Xscape General Discussion

Well there are different types of demos. It can have finished vocals but still have unfinished instrumentation alá Give In To Me Demo, or maybe he just wasn't satisfied with it and labeled it a demo like The Dangerous Demo. Then there are those rough and raw demos like like Free, Days In Gloucestershire etc etc.

I think you're right though, it is probably a finished song :)

I agree that there are different types of demos.. for example Billie Jean home demo and Billie Jean studio demos. And I'm not talking about music. After MJ recorded his final studio vocals (vocals considered for album release) that is not Demo anymore. It can be Early Version or different take or something but that is not a demo recording. After that music changes, producers and MJ are doing alternate mixes, for example Jam. But vocals remain the same.

I don't think Slave was finished for Dangerous (musically, production), but in my opinion those are his final vocals.

Also Dangerous is not a demo, it is named Dangerous (Early Version). And for all "Dangerous Album Test Pressing DAT" leaks I wouldn't call those versions demos because they are not that. I would call them early or alternate versions.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I hate to say this, and I really don't want to take anyone's excitement away. Excitement of a new album is one of the best parts of being a fan. So please see this as my personal opinion. But what I heard of Timbelands versions of Slave to the Rhytm; the song is a complete mess of colliding sounds. It misses the sharpness of an MJ song. The original is way better, and I do not understand for the life of me, why producers want to put their stamp so much on a song and make it their own. Let the song speak for itself! It was strong, the way it was. Why the strings? Why fastening the beat? It just doesn't make sense.

Sorry for the rant. And if this is already in a different forum also my apologies; I couldn't find it.

I just have to get this off my chest.
thank you for not being afraid to tell the truth. :) I hope most of the fans here aren't forcing themselves to like a messed up song just because they wanted to remain positive about a new MJ project. :ermm:

Which truth? That Tricky 2010 mix suck? That his techno version is crap and that that was the reason why Sony decided not to release it on Michael? That Sony decided not to use his crappy amateurish production on this new project and instead gave the song to someone else to do it?

Oh god forbid, no we can't allow that!
It's better to get back into full negative mode just in case the album doesn't meet everyones expectation.
Or: Just kill the album completely before we even heard one full song.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I'm so excited now ! Praying this isn't a let down

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

John McClain cared; his reproductions are some of the best on the album. Teddy Riley had good intentions but is mostly an idiot.

He didn't. MTS was already finished by MJ in 1994(!). John McC. did unnecessarily screwed it up.

Not true! He did not finish anything. He worked on that song for 2 hours. Recorded his vocals with session gutarist. That was it. Not finished song. Finished vocals - yes. Finished song - no. You know Michael Jackson's music? If he decided to release it he would work more on it.

He worked afterwards with Bruce Swedien on its mixing. Bruce presented him some mixes, MJ approved the "famous mix # 9"

Now that you put it like that i totally understand and agree with you :)

I do not agree with this part though as it goes against with what you just said above. Michael himself called it "The Demo for Dangerous" in his deposition. Michael [supposedly] re-recorded all his vocals after Teddy came aboard and the bridge was not finalized as it was him just mumbling. I also think there is a distinction between a Demo and a Vocal Demo. Give In To Me and some of those Dangerous acetate songs seems more like vocal demos more than anything.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

As far as "Demos" with MJ those all varied so much, he never created them the same way and were usually in layers.. for example if an instrumental would come to his head, he would sing it into a tape recorder and explain the sounds, than if it had many layers to it he would dub the other layers of instrumental with it.. Than sing the sound and lyrics that he has in his head over.. If he had lyrics come to mind, he would sing those out first in a tape recorder.. So I mean the term "demo" could really be loosely used that we have no idea what level in the completion process they are..

Some may literally sound too incomplete to ever even use, some may have just enough to do something with (which they would have to work on and change), and others can stand on there own.

^ holding my breath... is it safe?

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

this twwet was about one of my MJ projects, not the album.
anyway we shall have details soon now.
;)

I'm confused now. We shall have details soon about what? Your project or official Sony project? Please.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Not for the release.

Why? Fact is there's an finished and approved mix existing. Perhaps MJ did this song for the never realized The Jacksons Humanity album

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Richard LeCocqe tweeted on the 20th of march: "getting pretty much close to it now."
(regarding new album/announcement)

this twwet was about one of my MJ projects, not the album.
anyway we shall have details soon now.
;)

Hey Richard!
Sorry, i don't get this ..
Don't wanna be a pain in the a**, but to me it clearly seems as if you are answering the following question by @ImSoBlue:
"@richardlecocq: any news on the Michael Jackson unreleased album to come soon? how close is an announcement?"

Your answer: "@ImSoBlue: getting pretty much close to it now"

See the link for a screenshot:

So how can this be about YOUR OWN projects?
And by the way: What are your own MJ-projects? Are you working with the estate together?

I think maybe he said more than he was allowed to..

Announcement for the single next week, Slave released in 2 weeks. That's my opinion.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

The announcement SHOULD come with a single, IMO. We've waited too long.

I'm not expecting anything related to him this week.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

the first single will be slave ...
