Sky News understands Sony Music Entertainment will release an album of the late singer's unreleased material and lost tracks by the end of April.

However, it will initially be available only as pre-installed music on the Sony Xperia Z2 phone.
Sony's official price for the Xperia Z2 is £599 in the UK and is expected to cost about $600 in the US

I think one of the best parts of any album (aside from hearing it for the first times) is the anticipation and excitement before it.. While a lot of frustration, anxiousness comes with it.. I love being excited!!

I think it's great to be excited, and it's fun kicking around ideas and things people would like to see.. BUT!! I think we all need to understand not to expect what our imaginations can come up with.. Of course our ideas will be the BEST to us, we come up with exactly what WE like..

Don't put hopes up too high, and as long as we'd be happy with anything MJ than I say get excited, have fun with it.. Just don't be disappointed WHEN the album is less than what you dream up.. Be happy with any MJ
 
I don´t want to buy the phone just to hear Michael´s songs.
If they release the album on the phone in the end of april I suppose I have to wait for the album to be released in the ordinary way,maybe end of may.

They shouldn't (and my guess - they wouldn't) wait that long between the phone release and the actual album release. Too much time would be like screaming "let the piracy begin!" and it would. I guess its gonne be a few days gap. Like the Z2 owners will get it at the same time pre-sale buyers would... unless it's like installed on the phone?

Yes, it does say 'pre-installed'. I don't think people will shell out £599 in a hurry, if they are going to get the album anyway the next week....

they would not put the album on the phone and not release that album near the same time.. If we know that I think a a multimillion dollar company could put that thought together.. I mean they've made money knowing how to sell!!

guys and especially Zakk, perhaps you should calm down a little bit. Still everyone - including media and radio channels - are speculating and/or reporting rumors. Skynews "understands" is a sign of this. Again calm down and wait for official announcement. Album is coming everyone knows it. It's just a matter of when.

As she said, this by no means is an official announcement. I very easily could have gone to Sky News as a "secret informant" and told them this. Don't get excited until the Estate releases a statement.

It is the news Michael Jackson fans have been waiting for - but those desperate for a new album by the King of Pop may have to buy a new mobile phone to hear it.
Sky News understands Sony Music Entertainment will release an album of the late singer's unreleased material and lost tracks by the end of April.
However, it will initially be available only as pre-installed music on the Sony Xperia Z2 phone.
An advert for the Xperia Z2 phone uses a song from the album - a remix of Jackson track 'Slave 2 The Rhythm'.
The ad features a ballerina dancing with a red sheet, and Sky News sources believe this will form part of the music video.
The album is being produced by Epic Records, which is owned by Sony, and its chief executive LA Reid is thought to be personally involved.
It would be the first Jackson album featuring fresh material since 2010's 'Michael'.


Music journalist Kevin Hughes said Jackson would probably have welcomed the move to release the songs on the smartphone.
"A couple of years before his death Michael became very interested in YouTube and the future of music and the delivery of it to his fans and how they would purchase or download his music," he told Sky News.
"Average fans might be initially disappointed but there is such expectation they will do anything to get hold of it so likely they will invest in the phone.
"It has worked for artists in the past so could do again.
"But from what I have heard these tracks are such high quality it will definitely get people talking about his music again in 2014."
Jackson was said to be working on new songs when he died in 2009 and rumours of an album surfaced last year.


Renowned producer Timbaland is known to be working on several tracks.
His official DJ, Freestyle Steve, tweeted last year: "So last night I heard some of the new tracks Timbaland is doing for the King of Pop … WOW!"
Sony's official price for the Xperia Z2 is £599 in the UK and is expected to cost about $600 in the US.
The company is not the first to use music to sell phones.
Rapper Jay Z made the first million copies of his 2013 album 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' available for free download to Samsung customers.

If this news is true, the best example would be Jay Z / Samsung deal. His album Magna Carta was scheduled to be released on July 9 and Samsung owner were given free downloads on July 4. So having the phone meant getting the songs 5 days earlier. So the difference was only a few days and there was no need to get to phone, you could wait until the actual release date and get the songs for regular album price.

That would be stupid. They could make a collectorrs edition. But I hope for a normal fysical cd. Or else they wont sell a lot.ets not forget that not every person has 600 bucks to spend on a new cd of mj!!

they said initially on the phone, they don't mean that definitively.. i'm sure it will later come on CD so people shouldn't complain. also, the way it says ''lost tracks'' excites me even more.

That's how most likely it will be! And NOBODY needs to go BERZERK over this, because we knew since the Xperia ad, that this could be the outcome! So either you prepare for buying the phone, or you prepare for some days more waiting. Cause that's what we have to deal with. No need for drama or any kind of negativity!
Just wait & buy when it's your time.

I hope sony will release a HD audio version to HDTracks.com!! I just bought the new Pharrell Williams album in HD audio, and it's freakin awesome!!! Totally worth every penny!

Very excited. I could never afford the phone but am happy to wait a little longer to have a physical album in my hands.

No I didn´t miss it.
IF they release the album on the phone in the end of april I just wait for only the album even I have to wait another month.

My favorite tracks from G I R L are Marilyn Monroe, Happy & Gush :) amazing album overall.

i was planning to get the Z2 with or without MJ anyway. And with my job I get the phone for free :)
