Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I don't think it's one of those either.

These were recorded in 2009 and copyrighted they may be all incomplete but aslong as one of these has vocals evidence states one of these is them.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Some may disagree with me but all songs that have all choruses and bridge - Enough to make a full song should eventually be released.. Now Michael has been known while making a demo would record lets say one verse and the bridge... So if there are any songs in that form THOSE ones could be used as duet songs.. having another artist record another verse or so to make it a complete song..

I would not want any fully recorded songs put in as duets. When there has to be unfinished songs out there to use finished vocal recordings as duets,.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I agree if we also get the original demo, no existing MJ vocals are removed in favor of the duet partner, and the duet partners should be somewhat "worthy"/really talented and fitting for the particular song.

But it's still entirely possible they will get some guest artists to be featured on the updated versions of (finished) songs, because most albums have lots of features these days. But that's just speculation.

If there are some songs which are unfinished and a guest vocalist is needed to fill the gaps then I wouldn't be against that. All I ask is that they use a respected artist to fill the gap and not someone like Justin Bieber

What i don't want happen is them removing some of MJ's already completed vocals and replacing them with some current artist of today

Mike often had rappers on his songs. i wouldn't mind that, cause they would add an additional verse and not replacing mj.

I'd love to hear LL Cool J on a new track , cause he loved and respected michael.... his unreleased songs with him never made it on mikes album officially.

if timbaland does a verse on 1-2 songs, it would be ok too.

but the original versions shouldn't be touched.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Like said previously somewhere in this thread, I believe the New album will be a double CD one with new mixes and one with the original Demos as Michael made them, this way MJ fans get best of both worlds.

not confirmed but that's the latest piece of information that we do have right now, i sure hope plans haven't changed since Dr. Freeze revealed those plans, i would love to buy a deluxe edition with both versions of each song.. truth is, i'd only listen to the demo's

I don't know if the Estate said that, but Man in the Music author Joe Vogel did in this article:

Ahhh I see, I see. Thanks for the info! Michael did work on BOJ along with a handful of other songs at a LA recording studio in between This Is It rehearsals but he didn't record it there. He didn't even record anything for that particular song. It is one of the last songs he worked on, but not the last he recorded.

A song called "Breed"

Deepak Chopra received a tape from Michael on June 23, 2009, which featured a new instrumental. Michael intended to meet up with Deepak at some point in the future and compose lyrics together. As it stands, it is to be believed that the song is one of the last Michael ever worked on, if not THE last. But of course, comments arise:

1.) There is no concrete proof that the song is called Breed. The only person to ever refer to it as such has been Joseph Vogel, and he has been fed his share of false information. (i.e., the Estate told him Slave to the Rhythm was first recorded in 2003 with Tricky Stewart.)
2.) Vocals were never recorded, as lyrics hadn't yet been written at the time of Michael's death.

I just remembered an old post mentioning these confirmed 2009 titles because they have all been copyrighted I recall. The last thing he recorded was one of these Bang Your Head
Broken Chair
D.I.E.
Don’t Make Me Stay
H20
Lady of Summer
Red Eye
Silent Spring
Water

These songs were not recorded in 2009. They were simply registered as such by the Estate because they were in a rush to lock down all of Michael's unreleased music. These songs (all produced by Neff-U) were recorded between the summer of 2005 and the fall of 2008.

i would love them to include 2 more neff-u song's, i'm sure they have a lot of potential! 2 post trial song's per album would work if i'm brutally honest.

I agree! Neff-U is arguably the best collaborator Michael worked with post-Invincible (save for Brad Buxer) and he has great production skills. I'm told his mixes of Hollywood Tonight are killer, and Best of Joy and (I Like) The Way You Love Me speak for themselves. He has a few songs left over so I'm hoping I see him pop up when the album drops.

for sure, any of those song's in that list mentioned that are complete? for example 'D.I.E' i have seen mentioned several times & Lady of summer or Silent Spring?

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Which songs are the RedOne ones then were they made in 2009 and 2008?

To be honest I've heard dozens of things about these songs :p the most likely candidate to be released at some point is Silent Spring apparently. Though, as many others say, take my word with a grain of salt. I'm confident in what I know but not everyone is always right :p

Nothing Michael recorded with RedOne has been registered. The titles are unknown.

thanks man, would be interesting to see which (if any) are featured. very interesting titles indeed, but silent spring.. just going by the title of the song, seems so gorgeous :)

also, red one said himself that he'll release the song's he produced for michael when ''the time is right'' saying he didn't wanna take michael for granted, and get money..

''Epic Records has released its first posthumous Michael Jackson collection titled Michael, and RedOne has more, but he's waiting for the Estate and a good cause.''

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

I still don't believe that there are two Water's plus an H20, as three separate songs, or even versions of one another. I think the registered Water is the Cascio leak, and H20 was probably something he worked on with Neff-U. That's just me though.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

oh my god I can't wait for this to come out

The registered Water and H2O are attributed to Neff-U. My thought is that maybe they're the same song, just different mixes/lyrics. IMO The Estate didn't really pay strict attention when they were registering these songs lol. Like I said, they were probably in a rush to register all of Michael's unreleased material before someone had the chance to release it themselves.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

No offense, but it looks "self-made" and would need some additional work to look professional.
But I can see them incorporating a picture from this session into the(CD-)artwork. Could be good, maybe also with some shiny silver/gold touches like the Invincible cover.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Actually I received an email from MJ Estate Online Team back in January 2012. They said one of my posts on Great Album thread discussing/making estimations about possible sales for Michael album was read and they were asked to provide me with the most current sales numbers. I don't know who asked the Online Team to provide me with the actual sales number.

As of January 2012 worldwide sales of Michael album was 2.5 Million copies. 600,000 copies were sold in USA and the rest were international sales.

I don't have more recent info and probably it is best to not speculate how many additional copies were sold between 2012-2014 but still I think we can all agree that Michael album sales is at least 2.5 Million.

Thanks IVy, I don't want to derail this thread any more than it has been already so I'll make this my last post on the subject (but would be happy to discuss by PM). :)
We can take it for granted that just over 600,000 is accurate for the USA market - sales tracking there is quite accurate since Soundscan was introduced and continues to represent a larger portion of US retailers, and the figures are easily obtainable.
Similarly the UK is transparent. I just received confirmation from the BPI (via email) that the 'Michael' album sold just over 300,000 in the UK. It is certified Platinum - 300,000 copies.
So that's 900,000 to 1 million copies sold in the two biggest markets. Again, it seems highly unlikely, looking at the chart data that the album sold around 1.5million in the rest of the world, and that seems to be backed up by the mediatraffic data for 2010 and 2011. Perhaps it shipped 2.5million total (although early reports suggested it shipped 3.5million ready for launch).
I might do some more digging with other certification bodies in the next biggest markets to see if there are any surprises saleswise. If I can find the official sales numbers from another 5 or 6 markets that will give a very clear idea IMO.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

The Michael Album was Number One in Germany. Not really a small market.

This comment makes so little sense I'm going to contradict myself by posting yet another 'Michael' sales post in this thread. SORRY!
'Michael' also went to #1 in Argentina which IS a very small music market. chart position has no bearing on the size of the market, only the album's relative performance against others in the same market.
Michael sold around 86,000 copies in Germany to take it to #1 in the chart, but in its first week in the UK it sold 113,000, which only got it to #4. Germany IS a small market compared to the UK and especially the USA.

Confirmed (in order of market size according to IFPI):
USA - RIAA certified as platinum for SHIPMENTS (1,000,000) but only SOLD around 600,000 according to Soundscan.
Japan - RIAJ Gold (100,000)
UK - BPI Platinum (300,000)
Germany - BVMI (NOT CERTIFIED), but we know it sold 86,000 in the first week, so would assume it sold at least 100,000 total (so probably should be GOLD).
French is double platinum - sold between 100,000 - 200,000
Australia - ARIA Gold (70,000)
Canada - CRIA Platinum (80,000)
Brazil - ABPD (NOT CERTIFIED) (maybe less than 40,000 copies sold)
Italy - FIMI double Platinum (120,000)
Netherlands - (NOT CERTIFIED)

Other confirmed by me:
Austria - Platinum (15,000)

1.625 million total

Certifications are not an ideal measure because they represent the MINIMUM cipes sold assuming each certification is for albums SOLD and not albums SHIPPED. RIAA certified for albums shipped but luckily we know the real number of albums sold.
I have checked all the above. Wikipedia expands this list with other countries that I have not checked:
Belgium - Platinum (30,000)

Czech Republic - 5× Platinum (25,000)

Denmark - Platinum (20,000)

Finland - Gold (10,000)
Greece - Gold (3,000)

Hungary - Gold (1,000)

New Zealand - Gold (7,500)

Poland - Platinum (20,000)

Portugal - Gold (7,500)

Russia - 2× Platinum (20,000)

Spain - Platinum (40,000)

Sweden - Gold (20,000)

Assuming all these are accurate then the new total is:

1.83million.

Still a long way from 2.5million.

This is a chart of the worldwide music market shares:

Germany maybe a market not as big as the USA. BUT it's one of the 5 biggest markets in the world & almost as big as the uk.

Actually if you ad up the 'MICHAEL' sales numbers according to this diagram, it is very possible it sold 2 - 2.5 Million worldwide.

I think if it was real there would be an official press release. It looks great though.
Does anyone know where the picture in the background comes from??

Plus I'm not quite sure about including "I am a looser" and "I am forever" on the same album.

Yeah it's obviously fake but looks good tho. By the way isin't I Am Forever the working title of Best Of Joy?

Since we're still missing a HIStory Book 2, i came up with an idea and a little sketch:

What you think???

No new album should ever use History in the title because it's not His Story anymore. It's put together by others.

Re: News and discussion about upcoming MJ album [Update Pg15]

Stella, you have a point.

To me though the story is told through the songs/lyrics. And, as we assume Michael is singing all songs, it's him telling his story, also the chapters are put together by someone else...

CD 1 updated Versions
CD 2 Demos as Michael left them
