Not true. He worked with the vocals only. But he heard the originals and even used some parts from the originals (intro of Slave, some elements in Blue Gangsta). You misunderstood what he said or wanted to say.

The mastering by Bernie Grundman is fantastic, makes the album so much more of an enjoyable experience. No doubt the album of the decade, the demo's are heaven. Especially 'Loving You' in particular.

Jump to 8:15 in the documentary, where they talk about "Blue Gangsta". He never even heard the excellent original.

In Blue Gansta the ending is the same as the original, so he must have heard it. But they weren't trying to remix the demos, they were trying to create something newer, their vision of how MJ would've sounded in 2014 by doing it their own style and still keeping the MJ essence. If they wanted to just make a remix they would've hired a bunch of DJs to do it. But that wasn't the point, from what I understand anyway.

Okay, let me be perfectly clear. Odedia is my demo wife, but that is different to my contemporised wife who has been updated and if listened to correctly occasionally sounds like ducks.

Sometimes I prefer my demo wife but also enjoy the contemporised version, even though its not exactly the version I had in mind when I got married. Neither is better than the other and its just a matter of taste.

I hope you understand.

There's some processed vocals, but I don't think that killed off the feel of the original. They are pretty close. I can understand if you feel that way about the other songs, but I really don't think it's true there is no MJ-feel in Loving You - either version.

sums the album up and the feelings i stated before. considering previous history of timberland and LA to mj i agree with the below

Thank you. This is exactly my sentiment too! The producers really are very brave to put their best work along side MJ's originals and open themselves up to all the inevitable criticism. I think they love and respect Michael just as we do.

And if I understand you correctly you are not your wife's demo husband, but a processed one with auto-husbando-tune turbo 3000 Giga Watts.

Love the whole album, the demo's are better than anything of course. But the new versions are a fresh glimpse of Michael Jackson's legacy in the year of 2014 :heart: can't fault anything, this album is fantastic. The Estate have truly learnt from there lessons.

But what is the MJ essence according to you? Just the vocals? Because musically things were changed at will. The hooks, rhythms, melodies - on most tracks hardly any of the original elements that were the foundation of the music were retained. To me they are just as much a part of the 'essence' as the vocals.

I absolutely love the demo but the only MJ feel in the new Loving You for me comes from the vocals. It doesn't stray as far from the original as the other tracks, but what was done does completely undercut what makes the original so nice imo. You have this wonderful, breezy demo, but in the new version Timbaland lays a thumping beat with massive orchestra hits over it, and in the chorus this accelerating beat. It is distracting and completely takes the lighthearted charm out of it, imo. The background sounds that replace the warm synths of the demo would fit an underwater level of an old video game more than a song describing the feeling of love, and the piano that was added in the intro and the bridge makes it sound more like a dramatic 90s R&B cut rather than a happy, breezy song.

ALTHOUGH I am a timbo fan but i admit that the worst thing about him is that he is too egoistic...So i do believe of course he heard all the originals but he decided to work on acapella cause he almost follow MJ blueprint in all the songs he made but with newer sounds...

For sorrow,That documentary is to promote the new mixes only, which is a bad thing to me, like they play the original in silence and then they start banging their heads to the new versions...No MJ at all in this documentary

Both versions of 'Xscape' are fantastic, the mastering by Bernie Grundman is so raw.. you can hear the echoes, the foot stomps, the finger snaps so vibrantly.. this team worked wonders, it's a masterpiece.. all 17 tracks and both video's + the poster.. absolutely stunning. Michael would be extremely proud :heart:
