it's shocking to hear that timberland never heard the original demos. He only listened to the A Capella tracks. No wonder the songs sound so different. On the other hand it feels a bit disrespectful, like he didn't even care what was Michael's vision was-he wanted to create one of his own. That's great for Timberland fans, less so for MJ fans.

For me its enough to like just 3 modernized songs + all the originals .

Tony R, I didn't get it. Is it the song that sounds like your wife or is it Odedia's wife that sounds like your wife? Or do you share the same wife? I am confused :naughty: :poke: :hiya:

I like all of the songs on all three albums but why was Xscape change? I like the org verse of it i love the beat to it.

Thanks, but it worries me when it seems the deluxe version you receive has no poster at all while official news said there is one by Mr. Brainwash

I really agree with this. The piano is such a huge part of why the song works so well, it gives it such great warmth. I don't mind creating music digitally at all, there is a huge place for it and Michael knew it. But I think the Timbaland tracks in particular can feel kinda cold and sterile because they are so very digital. And that sterility has its place in music, but I never felt it particularly fit Michael because he is all about warmth and humanity.

Rambling sorta... I still really enjoy this record. I guess it's just the part of me that can't help but wonder "what if this, what if that?" :) Can't have it all obviously.

LA Reid had heard everything, he had his word to say I suppose. Also I suppose they didn't do a single alternative version but probably several and finally ended up by chosing the most suitable, appropriate and respectable.

I am actually confident in their work.

Agreed. It's my least favourite of all the new versions. Some elements are cool, but still prefer the original.

This one and matt forger video were not in the disc...I wonder why..?

This. Why wouldn't he listen to the demos? That's just a bit odd. Here you have the tracks as MJ left them, the blueprint of it all, and the producers just ignore the music that's there?! Xscape and Blue Gangster were pretty much complete. APWNN and DYKWYCA could have used some embellishments but they were good songs as well. And yet they just ignored what was there and added their own vision. I don't like that at all.

i didnt know that. Was that revealed in the documentary im yet to bother watching? Well, if they completely disregarded the demos and trying to understand MJ's vision and enhance it into 2014, it kinda kills the "wanting to continue the legacy and keep it alive" thingie... doesnt it?

Maybe they didn't want backlash from the fans... Remember Paul Anka said that Michael "Stole" This Is It from him when the cd was released.

They did not disregard the demos. La Reid wanted from Branca to hear every single bit MJ sang from A to Z so that he knew what direction to take and with his team they came up with those alternatives.

Yes it's from the documentary. Timberland says he maybe heard it once at the beginning and never again. Stuck to the acapella only, so he wouldn't be "distracted" by the original recording. Like that's a bad thing.

Jump to 8:15 in the documentary, where they talk about "Blue Gangsta". He never even heard the excellent original.

LA was in charge of the project as a whole, I was talking specifically about the lead producer which is Timberland.

I'd say it's kinda pervert to create a song around a vocal track without any knowledge of its original style and/or recording purpose.

I must confess the tracks # 02 to 08 could also be used on any album of a noname artist. I recognize Michaels voice on them and that's all.

When I listen to the original tracks as well as to the new(!) versions of LNFSG (tracks # 01 & 17)there is a feeling, some kind of "magic" where I say to myself 'because of that your a fan of MJ'.

like i said, i haven't watched the doc. My 3 kids are right next to me, so no opportunity to watch anything not disney related :lol: (and im having a hard time making my 6 year old understand that MJ is a boy and not a girl.... :lol: )
however, im just trying to understand what was said in the doc :) I

No, it's not a bad thing, but when you are in procs fo creation, you don't need to be distracted by the sounds. If you hear them once or twice, it's enough to know what direction to take. That's discovery step. The step further, after the discovery, is to take some distanc and come up with something that would take the same direction. We have teh example of Al Capone vs Smooth Criminal.

loving the album already and only at track 1!!!!! incredible project, by far the best up to now.
