More about the first single and promotion around XSCAPE
By Sjoerd Rojenga (LMJ)
This is a follow up story about our meeting with John Branca from the Michael Jackson Estate and the President and Marketing manager for Epic Records in the Sony building in Los Angeles.
We were picked up at 8 AM in the morning in the same van that took us to the listening session the day before
and where not aware of where they where taking us. After about a 30 minute drive we arrived at the Sony Building in Los Angeles.
This is where we met with John Branca and Epic Records President Sylvia Rhone and the marketing director in charge of the new Michael Jackson album, Scott Seviour. They listened to our feedback and they actually wanted to know what we thought should be the first single from the album.
As far as we know the first single won’t be ‘Xscape’.
We can also tell you that the first single of the ‘Xscape’ album will be accompanied with a video according to the people from Sony.
The people from Sony and Epic Records made it very clear that they want this new Michael Jackson album to be a success just as much as all of us and they have been putting their heart and soul into this album for the last 9 months together with L.A. Reid who also has been working on this album day and night to make it perfect the way Michael would have wanted it.
It was also mentioned that the new album will be promoted all over the world with special events being organized
in mayor cities and countries. Most of these events are kept secret since they want it to be a surprise when they happen.
Last but not least; disc 2 of the Deluxe edition will have the original recording of all 8 songs on disc 1 and some other bonus material that was not mentioned.
