Wtf??? What about the HitsDailyDouble results???
HDD is very accurate, but their numbers are still always a little different from the official Soundscan numbers. Usually it doesn’t make any difference when it comes to chart positions, but when the race is this close even a small difference matters.

Hmmm, Week 2 everyone? Do we have enough money to gift Albums out? I think I am going to have to do what Petrarose done, Buy 20 Copies this week and gift them to people.

I hope he's Number 1 on Billboard this week, But hey look on the bright side, 2001 Invincible was Number 1 for 1 week until Britney Spears knocked him off the top spot with her self titled album "Britney".

Man, those were the days when it was exciting to buy CD's of music that we could Enjoy and not this crap out now!

This sucks! I was so sure MJ would get that #1 spot. I just can't believe he was so close and this stupid band beat him. UGH!

Still proud of MJ tho!

coldplay comes this week.
No chance at all. :(

Next week Coldplay will definitely get the #1 spot with over 300K sales. Unfortunately this was MJ's only shot. Oh well.....

Sorry guys, MJ is #2. This website is very reliable. They get their numbers directly from Neilsen Soundscan. Damn, this was so close. Sad :(

Is hiphopdx the only site reporting this...? How come they have it out even before Billboard??

I would like to know how they know?

It’s odd that some other site would publish the results before Billboard, but I guess industry people know the sales anyway. Maybe Billboard is a little late updating their site? But I would also find it odd if the hiphopdx.com numbers were incorrect - why would they post some random sales numbers and chart positions? Still, I’d like to see the official news on BB.

Geez, I forgot about the Coldplay Album out this week, Yeah.. Michael will be in the top 5 I believe but who knows.. People might buy Xscape, It needs more Radio play to help it.

Even Thriller didn't debut at Number 1.. I don't think it debuted in the top 10 when released, I have to do my research on that one.

If its true that it is #2, could it be because the biggest retailer in America (Walmart) ran out of copies to sell?

As close as it was I think it was very negative for Xscape that a lot of stores did not store enough copies and went out of stock very quickly.

Oh well, The Black Keys can have their #1 now. (I never knew why an Indie Band cares so much about chart positions - isn't it considered uncool to worry about such things in those circles?)

I need to wait for Billboard. Everyone is saying these sites are reliable but they are saying two different things.

This was MJ's only chance at #1 for this album. It's done. Next week it'll probably be #4 or so and then fall from there. What really bothers me is that Number Ones was #1 for 6 weeks, is now 5 times platinum however Billboard shows it's peak position at #13. It's sad. MJ has realistically had 7 number one albums... although history will only say 6. Xscape deserved to go #1 sad to say. The promotion behind this album was unlike anything we will see for Michael Jackson from here on in. It's a sad day.

these people need to get it together. the estate says number 1, the daily whatever says number 1, and now this other site says number 2. this is sickening. It's all the black keys with all the whining they did.

Yeah, but the music market was completely different then. Albums practically never debuted at number 1, whereas today album sales are much more frontloaded. Usually the first week is the highest sales week, and if an album doesn’t make it to number 1 then it probably never will. There are some exceptions, sure, but they’re just that, exceptions.

Oh well, it’s a shame if Xscape just barely missed the top spot, but still, the sales are very nice, and the album should be number 1 when it comes to worldwide sales. And it looks the second week sales are going to be healthy too.

This is not a "Sad" day - you guys need to settle down. #1 would have been great but XSCAPE did phenomenally well, Michael Jackson is back in the mainstream and is being talked about in an almost-unanimously positive way. This is still a major victory for Michael.
