Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

so judging by that interview they have no idea when this is being released..

Queen's Brian May with Anita Dobson talk to Heart FM's Kevin Hughes at the London Queen Aids Benefit Gala- news on the Michael Jackson & Freddie Mercury recordings and a possible new Queen album..and more.

I don't get why they don't know if it's 2 or 3 songs yet. The third song is obviously Victory, so if we won't be getting Victory, I won't buy this as I already have the 2 others. The Estate should give us some explanation as to why they would not want Victory put out if they are behind it.

maybe they want Victory as a bonus track on a Victory tour DVD. That's what I would do :)

Queen - Roger Taylor Urges Michael Jackson Executors To Speed Up Duets Release
by WENN | 26 September 2013

Queen rocker Roger Taylor blames the executors of Michael Jackson's estate for a four-year delay in the release of the Thriller star's secret duets with Freddie Mercury.

The existence of several unreleased collaborations between the two pop icons was revealed by the band's guitarist, Brian May, in 2009, days after Jackson died from an overdose of anaesthetic.

Taylor and May worked together to finish the incomplete tracks and they are hoping the songs will be released later this year (13), but Taylor blames those in charge of Jackson's estate for holding up the project.

He tells Mojo magazine, "Freddie and Michael never finished the songs, because Queen had to leave L.A. to go on tour. Brian and I have worked on them, which means they'll come out as Queen and Michael Jackson - hopefully... if the Michael Jackson estate can get its a**e into gear."

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

Well they shouldn't have hyped the whole thing before they done dealing with the estate. If the Estate and Sony really have another project on the run and they don't think those duets are helping it, then they'll have to wait a bit more.

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

Agreed....

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

I'm guessing that the two songs mentioned are indeed TMBMTLTT and State Of Shock, I don't quite remember where I saw it, but I do remember Brian May saying something to the affect that Victory was very incomplete. Would love to hear these songs! Two musical legends!

I think Brian and Roger really need to be patient.

The Executors can’t do this eventually.

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

Why can't they just give us some f***** word soon? God, they are so slow, I don't care what anyone says and I'll be quoting Roger Taylor:

"if the Michael Jackson estate can get its a**e into gear"

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

maybe they want to keep Victory as a bonus track on a Victory tour DVD. That's what I would do :)

watch the chicago tv special on youtube, full shows are on 35mm film ;) i want Blu-Ray!!! and the estate can make a 'Victory' short film using a montage of footage from the Tour :D

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

we just wait to hear this collaboration:)

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

Hopefully it will get released soon

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

Hey Estate, it's already October, release them now!

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

Just maybe the Estate doesn't want Queens released before they release their own project. (If they even have one planned for this year) They would want to maximise their own sales for Michael's Estate first. I can't blame them. If Queen jumped the gun by stating an October release for their songs, that is not the Estates fault. (I'm just speculating what a logical reason could be) We just have to be patient to see how this all plays out. Because we just don't have all the facts yet, with the cryptic tweets and posts. Its all still speculation on our part what the holdup is. but I'm hoping it is because the Estate Wants to release Michael's Album first .. which is the most important IMO

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

I definetly think that the Estate is know contemplating on putting something like these as a run up to the new project.

I really really hope that there could be new music for Christmas and that something as special as Michael and Queen could kick X-Faktor out of the water lol!!

Here is hoping!

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

Now that we know the new MJ album won't come out for Christmas I think it would be a nice Christmas present to have an EP with the Freddie duets.

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

An EP would be brilliant, I'd so buy it. I'm thinking the songs won't be released this month, in December would be a right time to do it.

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

An EP with all 3 songs on it would be WONDERFUL :D

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

To be honest I want the new album to be the first MJ thing the public gets to hear in 3 years. I'd hate it if the Queen tracks get the initial excitment of a new MJ record. Looks like Queen team is really counting on these songs to promote their albums, so it's not like some bonus tracks only fans get to enjoy. If the Sony\The Estate decide to delay this Queen release I'm gonna be more than understanding :)

Sorry to be negative but I don't like how they go to the media to paint the MJ estate as the bad guys who wouldn't "move their asses". They should've sorted everything with them FIRST and THEN get everyone excited. And even if they did talk and the estate isn't in any rush right now because they have the new porject... Well, MJ is half of these songs and it has to work for both of them.

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

I don't see how a Mercury-MJ Christmas single would decrease the interest for an MJ album to be released in the spring of 2014. If anything I'd think if it's successful it would rather increase the interest. But that's just my layman opinion, the PR experts of Sony hopefully know what's the right strategy. But I agree that it needs to work for both of them from a marketing point of view.

I don't think any of the duets will be single worthy. These songs are only for the fans. I don't really think the general public will be interested in them. I just don't think the songs will be that strong. If the estate even give the green light.

Freddie’s fan base is huge and they sure miss him a lot !!! Well, I do.

IMO all songs are going to be fine. It is just the matter of time and as I’ve said before Brian and Roger need to be patient. I don’t like their complaint myself but it is their chance for something NEW from FREDDIE !!! IMO it means the world to them.

5 track ep would be cool, the 3 song's they recorded together. 'State of Shock' 'More To Life' & 'Victory' and then possibly Michael's solo demo of 'More To Life' and Freddie's solo demo of 'state of shock' i think would be great! i mean that would boost profits and they could bump up the price to £7.99 or something like that, and possibly a short film with studio footage of one of the song's like 'all in your name' kinda style!

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

If Queen and the MJ Estate will release the songs this year, I hope they take into account that format we already mentioned. I bet MJ and Queen fans are excited to hear Victory, the real TMBMTLTT duet, I love the official State Of Shock version with Mick Jagger but deep inside I wanted the original duet to be only version and in a way will come true right now.

Freddie's solo demo of 'state of shock' don't exist. Michael had the whole song ready when Freddie came, he just needed second vocalist to record his part.

There were no cameras, so there is no footage from that session.

Re: William Orbit working on Michael & Freddie Mercury duet - Release in October

I would buy every MJ album again in this quality, seriously! :)

me too but I don't think the estate will ever release it in this format! they've only just started on DVDs ;)
