maybe we will get For All Time once again after Thriller 25 inclusion :D

and Someone in the Dark could be included as well. CD debut on the special, expanded version of Thriller, released in 2001.

Some want buffalo bill or Chicago 1945 on thriller40, those aren't even thriller outakes...they could've added those on bad25 and scrap off the remixes from there that take up all the space..a missed opportunity from the estate there..maybe on bad50:rolleyes:

With all the unheard tracks from the mid 80s it is clear MJ just should have released an album in 1985, we got a dated mini movie instead with captain EO.

I’m not complaining though I managed to see it at Euro Disney in 93

One thing is to be said here: most people here really underestimate the casuals. As much as they're not deep into stuff as we are here, they're not oblivious to stuff that can be found on YouTube easily. I doubt it casuals aren't aware of GTH and SD.
Casuals don't care about Got the Hots or Sunset Driver. They're the people who, if they pay 200 $ to see, say, Elton John, go to the bathroom or go get a beer the minute they hear unfamiliar notes, i.e. a song that's not on his greatest hits record. Assuming they even listen to disc 2, they'll turn it off once they realize it's demos with low-fi sound quality or songs that, while we like them, are not Bille Jean-quality and thus will not hold casuals' interest.

As for people who are newer fans, that is people who are really getting into MJ's catalogue, they will get to Get the Hots and other deep tracks eventually, like we all did, once they've exhausted the main albums.

In both cases, it's entirely useless for those songs to be included on Thriller 40, as it's either un-needed for casuals who'll never even listen to disc 2, or un-needed for potential new fans who would have eventually gotten those tracks from TUC or the KOP discs, where they've already been released.

The only reason for disc 2 is money. The Estate wants you to buy an album you already have. So they have to add something new. But at the same time, because money, they don't want to put out ten new demos or outtakes, because they greedily want to keep those to get you to buy Thriller 50, and then Thriller 60.

It doesn't have to be this way. Other Estates are far more generous. And the MJ Estate will only join their ranks if projects like Thriller 40 fail.

BAD and Dangerous both came out a year too late.

Back to Thriller 40, how can they not have Hot Street on it? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I kind of wish they'd just announced the tracklist completely, I had this idea of announcing a track a week, around the release of the Xscape album, but honestly when we've not only heard most of the songs on Disc 2, but some have been officially released, it just comes across as scraping the barrel and largely a disappointment every week.

I'm trying to stay positive with Thriller 40, but releasing already released songs as "rarities" is annoying. I'm fine with them releasing leaked tracks, it has to happen at some point, but come on Sunset Driver.

It might be aimed at general audiences, but the Estate will rely on us fans to buy the album, up to now most of us are buying this for 3 tracks.

I apologise for the rant, but it's tough to remain constantly upbeat about songs we know extremely well

Look, it depends on what the next few tracks are. If cgootr is on here, I will be very disappointed, even to the point of not buying the album.

At this point, the 4K videos must be released to make up for these bummers.

Why was CGOOTR even recorded?!? Let's talk about that. It was never going to be on an album. I guess it was just recorded to be a B-side?

ja mindestens ein zweites völlig ungehörtes lied wäre schön wie rolling the dice oder nightfall lover oder bufallo bill,chicago1945 einer von denen dann würde ich mich freuen

The only reason for disc 2 is money.
The only reason for any posthumous release for any artist is money. Regardless of the respective estate, the number one priority is always how much they can make from fans who are willing to buy it.

XSCAPE was designed to bleed money from newer fans by appealing to the contemporary music market. Bad 25 was aimed at the hardcore fans. This Is It was for both. Rinse and repeat.

Let’s not pretend like any estate ever does anything solely for the passion towards the artist. Money makes the world go ‘round.

Man in the Music also states that “Got the Hots” was co-written by Michael and Quincy (it wasn’t), that the vocals for “One More Chance” were recorded during the Invincible sessions (they weren’t), that “I Have This Dream” from the Invincible sessions is the same song as the Hurricane Katrina charity single (it’s not), and a horde of other incorrect pieces of info. Joe Vogel has some great sources, but both editions of his book are rife with errors.

I think it’s entirely possible that it was written in the 1970s, but again, given the people it was actually recorded with, it couldn’t have been recorded any earlier than 1981.
Let’s not forget that he also writes about Got The Hots but is actually referring to Hot Street, at one point, when talking about how much Michael loved that track.

Sloppy writing. I met him once at a seminar with Brad.

Yes, but other Estates want fans’ money by giving fans what they want. For instance, Elvis’ Estate is just as money-hungry as MJ’s, but they know fans will only shell out for quality, unreleased product, so they release box sets and outtakes and a ton of unreleased material. They’re basically releasing EVERYTHING Elvis ever sang or recorded.

Other legacy acts are doing the same thing. Basically they’re emptying the vaults and fans are only too happy to pay to get all of those nuggets. Paul McCartney has been releasing deluxe editions of ALL of his albums, even the obscure, forgotten ones, and every one comes with a book of photos, liner notes, interviews, plus everything he has in his vaults from the sessions.

But MJ’s Estate, they’re re-releasing Thriller with two extra demos. Let that sink in : we’ll probably get no more extra, unheard material on this than we did on the lame This is It soundtrack that was rush-released to cash in on the movie.

So, the issue is that the estate isn’t willing to empty an already-limited vault? And you’re upset over a track listing that you don’t yet have in full? I also want to hear more, but I’d rather them stagger things than blow it all on a single release. It’s called forethought.

Let's not forget the product will be made for bigger audience, not for the niche fans, therefore quality songs that are released go before in completed demos, that's why they probably put lot of stuff which we have already

so there wont be space for hot street AND Niteline.. how can they miss the chance to release those now?
Because of:
Carousel
CGOTR
Starlight
(not fitting the outtakes concept)

and why don't they add ALL Thriller related Songs that have previously been released including: for all time and someone in the dark? they could simply add all of those on 14 or more Tracks CD. its such a mess :D

Anyway, I am looking forward to the few unreleased tracks that are announced but this project for CD2 seems so unfinished and not thought-through!

I honestly think we will get only one and not both of those: HotStreet / Nite line. So they keep one for another release.. oh man, seriously? Thats weird for such widely known unreleased tracks within the community

lets see if at least one more totally unheard Track will be released.

It is overreacting imo you and nobody else has ever heard the vocals and music for the toy and we have never heard the original music track for behind the mask either (I assume the vocals will be the same as on "Michael"). So it is 2,5 new tracks :p
Key sentence “truly unheard”.
