Re: BAD 25 CD 2 Demo's unreleased, unheard Studio songs Discussion

:) I'm really enjoying MJ's unreleased material. Even the songs that were just 'OK' to me has grown on me a whole lot.
I play the disc almost every day.

Since this is the Thread for the Wembley DVD :woohoo:I've written an 'essay' on it...

“I feel 16 again”
Written by DAZ.

This is the ‘essay’ about the Wembley BAD25 DVD… I did feel like I was 16 again as I was that age when I first saw Michael LIVE in Werchter in August 1988…

First impression: Okay, the sleeve is kind of tricky to get the CD out but it’s well presented though and once you pop it into your Blue Ray player, it does ‘behave’… In my humble opinion, I found the quality GREAT just like a DVD should have… I still have ‘worn out’ video’s of concerts that contain ‘snowy’ parts already so… It was great for me to see a GREAT quality concert…

Overall Impression: I know that Michael didn’t like that you ‘compared’ concerts as it’s indeed of a different era but then you don’t have an ‘essay’ if you can’t talk about how a BAD concert is much more PURE and still really contains the Magic Juice of Michael… I love the fact there is no fireworks or pyro stuff as this really ‘scared’ me in the other following tours… Just cause I thought it would hurt Michael again L

I can FEEL that this is Michael’s FIRST tour as it’s still PURE and I’ve noticed now what he changed in the other tours for better or for worse…
Example of course… In BAD, Michael has a ‘clothing tent’ on stage where you can ‘spot’ in the reflection how he changes and it’s exciting for me in what he would appear… I mean, in Dangerous there were ‘black outs’ and you didn’t see Michael for a couple of minutes and that ‘worried’ me when I suddenly faced ‘the darkness’ on stage…

The chemistry with the crew: The change from Sheryl Crow to Siedah Garrett was ‘phenomenal’ as during “I just can’t stop loving you” they were like ‘miles’ apart from each other and only briefly ‘brushed’ and I didn’t really feel the ‘connection’ like I did with Siedah on stage…
By the way, Sheryl Crow almost ‘tripped’ over her microphone ‘wire’ and walked quite ‘silly’ on stage so… Siedah was the ‘BETTER’ choice…
Also, they used ‘Cheryl Crow’ as ‘TWYMMF’ lady… DUH… WHY not Tatiana? Again, the ‘chemistry’ is MUCH better with her…

Wardrobe: I noticed Michael wore ‘round’ neck T-shirts instead of the V- neck ones… I love how Michael wore the werewolf mask and the M jacket, that was COOL… I found it a pity, Michael had to ‘fight’ on his own with the black ‘fluttering’ thingy he wore on top of his Beat it jacket… I yelled ‘WHY does no one help him?’ So, that change in HIStory was okay… The DVD features two versions of BAD… One with the ‘funny’ jacket with the straps on his back… I don’t like that design and one with the ‘original’ BAD jacket which is much better okay… ‘Man in the mirror’ in the BAD jacket? I missed the fluttering blue shirt from Dangerous…

Closing statement: I really enjoyed the show and I feel like 16 again… I love how they put “Dirty Diana” in it and OMJ, I would have loved to be that ‘mic stand’… It really captured the ‘essence’ of Michael Jackson as BAD genius…
I just found it a pity that Siedah wasn’t there and that they didn’t show the ‘footage’ with Tatiana… Anyway, it indeed let you ‘relive’ the Magic of the Moment where Michael was BAD… Really really BAD… Thanks to the MJ Estate for executing such a wonderful project just like Michael would have done it…

  :punk:

Since this is the Thread for the Wembley DVD...

This thread is for the audio CD.

But anyways,
I always hated when MJ wore v-necks.
But I hate when anyone wears v-necks, haha.
Makes you look sloppy.
But that's just me. (tho, i think it worked in the L.A. MITM performance).

Loved whenever it was a regular round neck one.

It says in the 'title' DVD :cheeky:

But anyway...
I don't like the 'round' necks Michael wore... I rather see the V necks for the obvious reasons of MORE Skin shown

Just before Man In The Mirror when Michael says ''I love you London'' is it just me or does it sound like he says ''I love you onion''? lol

OH NO! YOU FOUND OUT! i knew it was only a matter of time before people found out that Michael actually performed a special concert for a load of onions and the audio was recorded in high quality! The estate was worried what people would think of this so they decided to pretend it was a london concert : D

Bad performance from Yokohoma is so much better.

(he also recorded background vocals for Joe King Carrasco’s 1982 Don’t Let A Woman (Make a Fool out of You)).
I went to YT to listen if I could hear MJ in the background. I could.

I'm So Blue
The bridge section of the song has this great harmonica solo, or actually an instrument that sounds like a harmonica: “That was in fact a synthesizer harmonica”, reveals Forger. “And that was actually John Barnes. He is a very talented keyboard musician.
I was wondering about this. Now I know. :)

Free is Jackson the balladeer at his best: soulful, happy and so into the moment.
And he's right, you can hear it and feel it. :)

Thank you Qbee for the Richard Lecocq article. :)

I loved the footage from that '87 documentary from a show where MJ basically ran into the audience (behind the barriers, of course) and was singing Bad.
Would have been awesome if he did that for all shows, but that must have been spontaneous.

Anyhoo, I keep watching this DVD (well, the rip on my mac) over and over. Mostly IJCSLY, HN, APOM...well, mostly all of it.
The IJCSLY performance is soo good. The only other good one I've seen live is from THIS IS IT. His high notes in that were amazing, and it was just rehearsal!

Jebus. On my bucket list, I want to have access to the archives and view all the u-matics they have!

Meanwhile, I could care less about the Dangerous and History tours :D (not the albums, but the tours).

Yes, it's better because it's live and I always prefer a live performance. That's why I'm glad they included Yokohama Bad on the DVD as well. But otherwise Wembley'88 is a better concert IMO.

Re: DVD Wembley Stadium July 16, 1988 and BAD25 CD 3 Live [Discussion]

it was a cold day on the morning of September 17th, 2012. exactly 24 years, 2 months and 1 day after Michael Joseph Jackson performed what turned out to be the most magical and historical show ever performed in the HIStory of music.

As a fan I've always loved experiencing the shows from the Dangerous & HIStory Tours, but Michael sang 14 of the 17 songs full out hitting each note with such precision and artistry whilst still being able to dance full out to songs such as Beat it, Thriller and Another Part of Me just to name a few.

after fans waited in the stadium for what seemed like a lifetime as the show was being delayed due to Michael wanting to meet. with Lady Diana and Charles (Prince of Wales) the lights when down ad there was Michael, and as the beats of the song began to Wanna be startin' somethin' Michael came into his own. his vocals, pure magic, his. moves like floating on thin air. in my opinion their is no show like it.

sure it didn't have the quality to be in Cinemas and on Full HD Blu-Ray, but that was clearly stated by John Branca about the poor storage facilities of these shows. but when a show is this good and this perfect you don't need HD to see how happy and how energised Michael was during that night.

Vocals 10/10, Dancing 10/10, Packaging of the DVD 2/10  Audio 10/10 and Video 8/10

overall a HIStorical release in the preserving of Michael's legacy, here's to Dangerous 25 *raises glass* :)

L.O.V.E to you Michael, in our hearts forever

Anyone notice how the synthesiser type sound that plays at the start of Billie Jean is so much longer on the cd than on the DVD? If it was the other way around then it would make sense cos the cd is edited but it seems that it's actually been cut on the DVD.

I like the live CD a lot, just am a little disappointed by Dirty Diana which I believe is the poorest performance on the CD even though this usually is one of my favorite songs. It seems to miss the energy and is a little off sometimes :'(

Yes... the BJ intro was originaly even much longer. You can hear the full version on amateur recordings.

Re: DVD Wembley Stadium July 16, 1988 and BAD25 CD 3 Live [Discussion]

Haha, when I first saw that part I was like :wtf2 :D

And this is why he needed bodyguards :D Not even his musicians or dancers (Tatiana) could resist touching him.
I get annoyed when some people say that if he wanted to, he could have just walked in the streets like a normal person without bodyguards. Yeah right

Billie Jean (Wembley) 5.1 center channel audio:

Interesting video. Does this mean that Michael's vocals in the choruses were playback or did he also sing over the playback?

Re: DVD Wembley Stadium July 16, 1988 and BAD25 CD 3 Live [Discussion]

No he sang live through the whole performance of BJ..you're probably hearing Sheryl Crow on backing.

Re: DVD Wembley Stadium July 16, 1988 and BAD25 CD 3 Live [Discussion]

I thought Jennifer Batten had done that in previous live performances of Billie Jean which I then assumed was part of the show.
