We want the L.A. 1989 concert on BLURAY campaign!!!

now i'm going to say something most of you will get it wrong, f... it.

today mj still has big fan-base. but in 10years its going to be half that.
people that have been from the beginning are getting older. people that lived in the time where michael was on top are getting old.
of course he is gathering new fans, but most of them are interested in his music and videos.
those of us that appreciate his live visuals would be gone.
i mean there won't be that much die hard fans.
the new fans can live without live dvds, they wont care that much cause they didnt live that time.
the opportunities will ne gone.
 
We also have to take into account the perception from the general public. I want this to sell as many copies as possible. As a fan I would buy Michael's shows whether they be on blu-ray or vhs. But some people from the general public might only be interested in a blu-ray release. The VHS thing will not raise eyebrows only in the fan community. If they also release the Bad tour on blu-ray and the Wembley DVD becomes a bonus of the album's 25th anniversary package for the fans, then that's fine. But the Bad tour really needs to be released properly, in good quality.

This somewhat doesn't really have much to do with this thread, but sadly, I agree with you. It's the truth.

This is true. New fans will be more interested in what Michael released in his lifetime than in posthumous releases. Hear that, Estate? Release the goodies before I die!

Lom Kit's point is that the demand for Michael's live performance is probably greater now than what it'll be 10 years later. It is because we are Michael's contemporary. We were alive when Michael was alive. We witnessed what he was like as a live performer, not through some nostagic TV program, but real time. We witnessed the excitement, so we want to re-live again. Bad Tour DVD allows us to re-live the memory.

Fast forward to a generation later, to the young generation, Michael will not be their contemporary. He becomes an icon. They will be more interested in getting Michael's greatest-of CD's and the videos. For live performance, they'll watch their generation's artists. Just like how young girls today watch Justin Bieber and Chris Brown. They are what "live performers" to them. Of course, the next generation will be interested in Michael's live performance, but the interest will be greater on the albums and the music videos.

Why is this point relevant? Sony or whatever company the Estate will work with are for-profit companies. They don't exist to please fans. They exist to make money. When they plan a release, they need to see if there is a demand for it. With each passing year, Michael's hard core fan base will age. Michael will gain new fans. But, the products that the new generation wants will be different than what we want.

Bottomline is that this may probably be our best shot to get a good Bad Tour DVD.

you are so right, my sister and i said the same thing, they are waiting on our great grand kids.
 
Lom Kit, statement should be sent to the Estate and we all should sign it.

Now we got Wembley in VHS quality for BAD25 in 2012

Maybe we will get LA 89 in DVD quality for BAD 30 in 2017!

maybe some fans asked for wembley, but well if wembley could only be sourced from a vhs but LA or any other 88 concert can be sourced from a beta tape or even better quality, what do you think should be done ?
get a top notch DVD or an enhanced VHS on DVD ?
when you bet on the best source you get the best results, JIMHO.

Well, fans would always complaint about the songs that was not performed.

Some concerts were without MITM, TWYMMF, DD and APOM. - at least we got 3 of the 4!

But then again - OTW is missing which is a shame, I love that song - especially live.

But to say the concert is a bad choice just because TWYMMF is missing is not fair! - I love TWYMMF BTW, but still. - There is no concert were he performed ALL the songs!
 
I've just started an official petition. The goal is a BLU-RAY release for 2013 or earlier and a minimum of 10000 signatures. Please sign the petition and promote it everywhere you can!

I would like to say that by no means this is us being unthankful. Estate and Sony did wonderful job about BAD 25. And I'm more than happy and satisfied :)
But this is just people wanting to see MJ in Blu-Ray which I think is a must in this decade and MJ derserves to be shown in HD. Also people are more interested in High Definition now a days and I think it would sell great, if they show it in cinemas it would be major success and would generate ton of money plus it would preserve MJ's legacy very well :)

I believe this won't happen so quickly if at all. This is more aimed at future and it needs 10,000 signatures, but I think we can make it if we raise our voice as one :)

There is. Most concerts had all songs that he performed in 2nd leg.
 
They threw us Wembley in VHS quality from the jumbo tron footage and we went crazy and didn't even realize we've been dupped. The LA show looks like it was actually filmed (with extra cameras) for television. The Wembley concert was never meant to be publicly released that's why it's on VHS only. Well we got what the majority of us asked for, but not the way we actually wanted it. Sony could have released more than one show in this package but because all of us were screaming for Wembley, we got it. Because of this, quality was second in line to a Wembley release because some of us just had to have the uk show released. I never understood why the uk show was so good. I had bad feelings about it now I know why!!

Judging by people's opinions who were there in July 16, they say Michael was out of this world that night.

I hope that energy is captured in the footage we get and that we aren't setting ourselves up to be let down. With limited camera shots and many of them only close ups it's hard to get the energy of all that's going on. With the cameras only on Michael we lose great deal of what is the show that Michael created, including the stage, the band, the lighting, the crowds etc, them are we really experience the show the way Michael wanted it to be seen. I mean we should get some idea of how it felt if we were in the audience.
Side note... I was watching Yokohama and I saw in the front row Film cameras!!
