We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video now in first post.

Not sure why the song has been released US only. Raising money for Haiti is a bit more important than copyright laws. I know the UK has its own 'all star Haiti charity single' but I'd still like the opportunity to buy this one as the UK version is just terrible. I didn't hate the new version, its different, but it isn't a patch on the original. I must admit as soon as I saw and heard Mike I couldn't stop the tears.

Janet and Michael actually sound really good together apart from that is has nothing on the original, but its all for charity so...

They relied way too much on autotune. Its trending on Twitter and pretty much everyone says its not a patch on the original. I still hope it raises a lot of money though. After a while the media will move onto something else but they'll still need help and support. The problem doesn't stop when the cameras leave.

I think it's good that the song was released. Let's face it, Haiti is not the world's top news story anymore. The world is ready to move on to other things (like, for instance, the Olympics), so drawing attention to Haiti once again is a good thing. People are donating again and it will bring some help.

I don't want to compare two versions. They are different. The first one is and will always be classic. The new one has the modern sound, whether we like it or not, this is what the modern music sounds like and this is what appeals to the buying public. So in this case, I think that the cause justifies the means.

But god, was it hard to see Michael in the video. I didn't even notice Janet when I saw him. The moment I heard his voice I was in tears. Will it ever get any easier?.... The world is empty without him.

It can't touch the original. There were a few good vocal segments like Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Hudson and Celine Dion, but overall I didn't care for it. The rapping was horrible. Like others have said, some songs should just be left alone. WATW was perfect when it was recorded 25 years ago, this is such a sub-standard version.

I never imagined that we are the world 25 would be that annoying to me. Lacks talent, feeling and is an attempt to make it sound r'n'b ish or whatever. The last choruses are messy creating a chaotic pandemonium. Rap parts are awkardly awful. Also what was this ending? Plus what did Janet do there? This "duet" didn't make sense to me at all.

(To all those willing to start a fight) This is just my opinion. People please go buy the song and support Haiti.
Well, there were certainly a few artists that had the quality and talent there...just like you would expect of them, so that was nice to see. I just wish though that it was a UNITY. That's what's lacking on this all, you see everyone doing it more or less for themselves....there's no passion, no message. Doesn't mean it's not there, but it's certainly not coming across. But it was good seeing some important faces joining in this song.

How it's been put together is just been done awful...I dunnow what team Quincy put on that, or if he did it all by himself. But the vid as well....very bad morphing from the people who sang it somewhere else, apparently.

Agree with this, I still hope it will raise lots of money for Haiti. :) And I think it actually will because it's so.....crappy, but a standard 'accepted' level for this time we live in now, you know? That autotune and the rapping stuff...all that...today's people will probably love that.

personally, i think that Haiti is on the minds of many people in the world. if being a top news story is what it takes for people to give to Haiti, then people won't give to Haiti if it is a top news story. it should be on their minds, regardless of the news, cus that would mean, that they wanna give from the heart, and don't need the media's help. i believe there are a lot of people out there, giving to Haiti, no matter what.

Rap is included because this is the year 2010. Not 1985 when men were sporting tight jeans and basketball players sporting tight shorts. Im kidding but this is a different era and Rap is popular. You can't leave it out.

The version to me is cool. Im not one of those so worried about how much MJ participates just to support it. Im happy he's in it, but i didn't need that to support this. Over 100,000 ppl died in this earthquake. Stop worrying about how much MJ or his family are in the song.

Honestly i think the reaction here was predictable. I think if all the perfect vocal artist were on this track fans here would still hate on the song because it's not the original artist. ETC....

I think releasing this song is a nice gesture, but again, it's just a remake. May be I'm being too sceptic, but to me 25th anniversary of WATW is just matter of not making anything new.

By the way, I'm not a big expert in modern music, so could you tell me, please, who is that guy @ 3:15 with horrifying vibrato?

it would be so if we lived in an ideal world. unfortunately, we don't. people have so many things on their minds and so many problems of their own that they may simply not pay attention. of course, there are a lot of people who remember and help and thank god for that!!!! but things like this raise more awareness and reach out to more people who probably wouldn't have donated unless they heard the song or saw a TV report.

This 2010 cover of We Are The World sound crap, I really don't like it. Not just because most of the singers over do their vocals, but because it's so sterile with no real heart. Michael's 1985 video clip and vocals sound more powerful and magical then ever, and that will be the only reason I will by the new version of We Are The World when it's released.

This thing is just killing me, watching it I mean. I just miss him so much.

I don't think it's bad, I think it's pretty good, not close to the original, but then again, how could it be? But still good....
One thing becomes cleare when you watch it, there is only one king of music!! These people are great in their own way but wow, they are so far from ever EVER geting even half way to Michael in all aspects of music. He is without a dought the greatest we ever had... and STILL HAVE!!

Also, even though I liked Janets part in it, couldn't they have made the video part with her and michael a little bit better?! Thought it looked kinda... amateur.

He's Wyclef Jean. Good thing I learned his name and how he looks like to run away every time he opens his mouth lol

please stop preaching.

MJ is on the track so why complain. Nobody cares about Cydni Lauper or many of the artist from 1985. This is a new era which is 22 years later with a new generation of kids, teenagers, young adults. The song was re-made to raise money for the victims.

Not a competition as to who should be on the song. If you re-made the exact song with the exact artist, majority of teenagers and young adults would be like who in the heck is the grandma and grandpa in that video. A song like this for charity should be with the current popular stars. Not ex stars in there 60's

(not talking to you,zizousama)

Janet is hardly to hear ...

Wasn't there some THIS IS IT footage with MJ singing WE ARE THE WORLD they could use?

Don't like the beat, it just sounds like 808 dropped on the original. Not feeling the rap verse either, however I do like the verse Kanye and Will.I.Am dropped. Other than that, I don't think its that bad. Can't really hear Janet though, and Michaels vocals should've been left on the chorus.

Other than that its alright. A lot of you need to remember that this song is not about Michael Jackson, its about Haiti, hes in the track so quit your bitching, good day.

I watched it and as long as first half of it is OK, the second half is just an absolute disgrace to the original song. What the hell was that???!!! Autotune???!! Rap???!!! I am absolutelly dissapointed.
