We Are The World 25 for Haiti / Official video now in first post.

owowowww!!
Sorry, friend, but there are many, many ways to help Haiti. This is just one more.

I agree with you about illigal downloads, but if people believe they are going to change the world by buying this song (or any other), they are quite wrong. That is the easiest way to "save the world": TO BUY something. The real change comes in our everyday life, in the way we relate to each other, especially to those close to us.

Probably I will not buy this song, for I don't like it very much. But that doesn't mean I don't care about Haiti. We can make a difference, but we have to begin with the ones around us first.

Charity begins at home -_-

Beautiful post, all of it especially the last line.

The original is original and that`s all what I want to say about that.

I read your comment and saw your siggy... Michael delicious smile there... Geeeeezzz!!!
I give you my word: I felt like Michael was really smiling to your words!!
Lovely and shy as usual, as if he was saying: "You are so sweet, thanks for that, I love you more!"

And I don't mean any paranormal thing. It was just a moment :)

aahhhhhhhhh.... I miss Michael so much

I've just watched it... I have not read all the opinions yet. I just want to say that although I knew Michael would be in the song, I was totally unprepared. And now I am sitting here crying again with the only thought in my head WHY DID HE HAVE TO LEAVE US!!!!!

As for the song itself, I liked it in general, but the rap part was so out of place, in my opinion... But well, all those rappers who can't sing normally, wanted to participate, so the rap part is understandable I guess. I think I will donate. Even though I donated to UNICEF already.

well it's impossible to touch the orginal masterpiece but i thought mj bloosmed in the whole thing that touched my heart even more and did they cut out janet's part ? b/c all u can hear was michael but anyway i bust out laughing when i saw snoop dog just getting into the beat lol

I felt exactly the same.
My heart skipped a beat to his sight.
I was not ready, not ready at all

The first time I heard it/ saw it I thought omg they killed a classic. They shouldn't have touched it in the first place, especially with people who bashed Michael before (Jamie, Lil, Quincy, etc) and AEG behind it, but after listening to it a few more times, I guess it's ok, modern...although the autotune and screaming was off. Janet's part was weird too.

They should have released Michael's What more I can give instead

Wyclef Jean sounds terrible, the rap part didn't fit in, there's only a handful of people there that actually have the talent to be in this song, and I still can't believe Lil Wayne is there, it kind of angers me. AND I wish everyone had left their grills, chains, and sunglasses at home.

I'm glad they left MJ's part in there, but overall this song does not compare to the original. I'm not trying to be negative, after all it's for a good cause, but I still think they should have given Haiti their own song instead of re-recording WATW.

Just bought WATW25 on iTunes.:)

On the whole it's not that bad.
What I don't like:
- part of Wyclef Jean
- effect used to put Janet next to Michael (it could have be done way better)
- Jamie Foxx imitating Ray Charles (not necessary)
- rap part (at least the first rap, I like the Will.I.Am part though)

AUTOTUNE??!!!!

RAP??!?!!!

WHY GOD WHY? the song was good until lil wayne opened his crappy mouth :(

and the ending? h-h-h-h haiti haiti h-h-h-h haiti haiti ..... oh my god....

wow I thought same!! What was that imitating???
But I like they leave the MJ's part....and definitely, it's great song...
I'm in tears:boohoo:

I didn't like this version especially with the rap part..I think it ruined the beauty of the song. And its just me or the old singers sound much better than the new ones? In the original song the singers sang with their heart and emotion that you could actually feel it and here I didn't feel it. I loved Michael & Janet part of course.
But all that doesn't matter. The CAUSE its what really matter here and I hope they will raise a lot of money for Haiti.

I believe it will grow on me someday :)
But...
90% of participants are unknown for me... I don't know much about local American stars... but most of them are not international stars... It sucks a bit... because non American people may skip this song.
I liked the idea showing the Haiti people, but... they are cheering and dancing in that video... it kinda says: "We are having a great time here, come and join us".

And here is my overall experience:
"Production is amateur... there are no big stars enough in this project... some of them can't sing... some of them are imitating somebody... and everybody is having a great time... even Haiti people."

I don't think the intent was to remake the original. Lionel and Q knew it was going to be different. I just think it was very respectful of them to not forget Michael. I still like the original better, but I appreciate the second helping.

and, therein lies the crux of one of the problems with this song. when politics runs in your blood, you get artificial. because Quincy was..supposedly interested in reaching a..'demographic'...a lot of demographics felt left out, ironically.

but, because Michael was just interested in being inspired, in the original, it didn't matter who was in the room, or who was not in the room...the whole world responded.

Oh boy... Before listening/watching to it, I already had low expectations, but the second Justin Bieber began singing, I literally wanted to just stop. (No offense to any Justin Bieber fans, but I simply CANNOT stand him). From then on, my opinion of the song went lower, back up to where it was before, and fell completely. The rap part was TOTALLY unfitting and I didn't care for Wyclef Jean. I appreciate the effort and time they all spent into re-doing the song, but I honestly hated the song. I know they weren't trying to improve it or anything, as the original cannot be beat. But 'cmon! This more "modern" sound does not work at all for me.. I hope this will raise a decent amount of money for Haiti, but I don't think this song will EVER grow on me. For those of you who are purchasing/donating, you have more of a tolerance for this song than I do.

see..coming from a bad place is important to talk about, after all..

i just saw a microcosm of it all..and if i were Haiti, and this was the only way....i'd be scared. the few, in this thread, and the few on mtv.com-some of which, might not even know of Jones- that i saw, that said they would buy it, were very few(and they admitted it, in this thread, and some said they felt like outcasts, and some of them were preaching to us, to make us feel guilty)...most people hated it.

indeed, coming from a bad place, as Jones, the media, and sony did, can't help charity, much. it is worth talking about.

but fortunately, as it was said, hundreds of times on here...there are thousands of ways to help Haiti, and those people on here, that don't like the song, for the most part, are reporting that they are finding numerous other ways, to help those in need, in Haiti.

and seeing Michael again, in that vid, helped me overcome much, and continue to find other ways to donate to Haiti. And a familiar way, to donate to Africa.

In my opinion Justin Bieber,Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas brothers diddnt ruin the song they sang it as it was supposed to be sung I hate their music but they did just fine

It was the damn rapper that ruined the song that was just horrid

just donate something if u can however u can

seeing michael brings tears
glad he was in it again

Holy shit....okay I just saw it and...I didn't expect it to be better than the original, but...THAT BAD?!
doh.gif

What did they do with the music?! And the rap part, and Wyclef? And I didn't even hear Michael properly? And the blending of the vid? Man, quality lacks biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig time! Feels like it's been put together in an hour or something. Let's not even begin with the vibe of it all....totally not feeling it and ain't no message coming across here. They're all acting happy on their own. Why are there happy Haitians in the vid, that's so stupid. The old one was made with soul but here they thrown the soul out.

This is a typical awful song which makes me can't stand today's music. *sigh*

you don't really have to tell people to donate, any more than i have to. i have a feeling, a lot of people didn't need to be told to donate to Haiti. i think they did that, on their own.

tried to buy it on iTunes, but I can't because I am not from the USA. what a joke. couldn't they release it globally? so here I am, downloading the song from a torrent site. oh well, I donated anyway and I don't feel guilty.

Meh it's ok! After listening to the new version, i listened to the original and the difference in talent, voices and energy is enormous. It is always hard to replicate something so original.

Nice to see they left Michael's vocals in the song and his image in the video. It is only right they did so as he wrote majority of the song and was a big help in putting the whole thing together 25 years ago.

if you go to msn.com or mtv.com...preferably the former...and look at the crawler, and click on the part about the we are the world 25 premiere, it will tell you multiple ways to buy it, i think...
