Thriller 40th Anniversary

Not here to hate at all but to say Human Nature on the Victory tour is the same as on the Bad & Dangerous tours is simply wrong lol.

....so is it too late to revive the old victory tour release campaign? Mj deserves an HD concert release. If they have this concert in full, it's time.
Just my opinion! That 40-some seconds didn’t do much for me because it feels very, very familiar with the other performances we’ve seen.

I’d rather a Bad tour release if anything so we don’t get bogged down by the brothers and the lesser Victory Tour band.

I think the footage of Michael speaking at the end is an outtake from ‘the making of thriller’. only the audio was placed over the dance rehearsal.

I can also hear Paul McCartney singing bass underneath Michael during ‘the girl is mine’ climax. interesting arrangement.

the impact of ‘thriller’ is the legacy of it. i think the right approach was taken, based on what little I’ve seen and read.

I’m so excited 😆 I think this will probably be my favourite documentary. I’m just looking forward to seeing/hearing Michael tell his story from this era.

I love the late ‘83 eyebrows (no one talks about them).

The Estate: hmmmmmm yeah no lol how bout more Broadway shows

That victory tour footage was JAW DROPPINGLY CLEAR! Jesus! Release a god damn concert in that quality! Release all of the recording sessions and BTS (behind the scenes since apparently I now have to clarify) footage etc and we’ll all be happy campers! I don’t give a flying fuck about tik tok mentions, interviews with people that weren’t actually apart of the album. I also don’t give a damn if Quincy has become a windbag the past few years or not, the man is one of the greatest producers to ever do it and responsible for the 3 greatest albums of all time! Give that man some respect!!

ALL of this!! In Surround Sound, lol.

I am really excited about the docu and the overhelming positiv reviews on the internet from fans who saw it.
Yesterday I left the forum and all was positive, then comes a user with a not good review and the bahsing began.

Sometime I don`t get it, I hope the docu can be seen on good air-times all over the world. I am confident now that the documentation will let the audience in awe with Michael and is able to attract new fans.

Yeah, it seems like fans were thrilled up until one user shared a middling review, then suddenly every positive review was irrelevant. It’s moments like this when it feels like this fan base thrives off of negativity and pessimism. We’re getting the doc next month, and the version that was shown hasn’t been finalized; writing it off already makes no sense.

I think my fave thing about this little clip is Michael being so Michael. After Motown 25 Fred Astaire said:

"You’re a hell of a mover. Man, you really put them on their asses last night... You’re an angry dancer. I’m the same way. I used to do the same thing with my cane."

and when Michael is talking about that he can't bring himself to say 'asses'. So cute!

I've just checked every bit of footage we have of HN performances from 1984 and none of them match. My bet is that it's the final date of the tour, Dec 9 at Dodger Stadium.
It’s very likely. Michael loved to properly record last dates on his tours.

I don't like the Victory Tour at all, but I can't see why they'd bother holding it back for release now if those film reels are the full show. If they only have a crappy source audio for the thing and can't do a clean 5.1 mix, at this point, so what? They've obviously already spent the money on getting the film transferred, it's not like it'd cost them anything extra to just slap it on YouTube after the docu release even if they think it's not of a high enough quality for a purchasable release. It's not like Victory is massively controversial like HIStory.

On a report during the tour stop in Chicago, Patrick Kelly said his crew had already shot 30 miles of film by that point.

Assuming it was all 35mm (frame size = 24 x 36mm):
30 miles = 48280.3m
24mm = 0.024m

48280.3 / 0.024 = approx. 2011679 frames

Film runs at 24fps, so 2011679 / 24 = 83820 seconds or 1397 minutes of footage.

Even being multicam, it's still fair to say they had at least a full show or enough to edit a full concert by then.

Chicago dates were Oct 12, 13 and 14. The tour ran for another 2 months.

what I'm thinking is, if the estate decides to release all of this for the 40th anniversary, are they going to have more content on the way for the next anniversary releases or are they just going all out here.. most likely not the the latter considering what you just said.
