Thriller 3D Update

The audio mix for the dance sequence is wrong.

That’s a shame.
 
We already know since last year that they didn't use the original mix. I forgot the link article but i think the master was in very bad condition so they couldn't use it.

Yeah, but they’ve got it wrong. They had access to the original etc so there is no excuse.

Sound effects are either new, or mixed a lot lower. The turn into the chorus after the dance sequence is musically wrong as well. There's no turn into it. The beat just continues with the chorus added over it.

I can't wait for the home release. The technically gifted fans will have to correct the colour/audio and then we will have the ultimate Thriller.

According to the IMAX site, the theaters showing in the UK from September 21-28 are the Picturehouse in Bradford and the Light Cinemas in Cambridge.

It will only be showing this year at those theaters. The good news is that “Thriller 3D” in IMAX will never go out of style, and if the response to it this year is what the Estate is hoping for, this will demonstrate and support the need to bring it back again next year in additional markets across the world!

The sound was incredible you can hear almost every instrument being played. Hopefully this gets released in some type of video format but watching on the HUGE screen is something else!

I've seen very good reviews for it, all over social media, so this is great!
I always find that the sound for projects like this is truly breath-taking.
It's the same for MJ One.....full surround sound, crystal clear and LOUD!

The thing is it's not the Estate's fault. It's IMAX who decides where the film gets to be shown.

The Estate just did the project, finished it and then handed it over to IMAX to distribute. The Estate don't have a say in who gets the film.

I am considering going up to Cambridge sometime next week to watch "Thriller" as with my luck, I don't think it will end up coming down to Cardiff anytime soon.

All involved take the blame. The Estate sent emails telling UK fans to buy tickets. The link provided theatres IMAX said were showing Thriller. None of this was the case. IMAX falsely advertised and The Estate lied to fans. It wasn't until fans threatened trading standards that IMAX updated their website.
 
@dam2040: My understanding is that the Estate said that "Thriller 3D" would be in select UK cinemas... that's not a lie, even though it's only in 2 cinemas.

It's more IMAX's fault, not the Estate's in my opinion.

Either way, it is disappointing.
 
When they do release it on Blu-Ray it would be nice if they somehow had access to the 3D pictures that were done for the View-Master reels at the time that they made the video and could include them as a bonus feature.

That's fair, but I do feel The Estate should have mentioned it in their email. Many fans bought tickets using the link the Estate sent out. The whole thing is ridiculous.

Yeah I guess they could have... but at the time Alicia sent out the email, there wasn't even a proper list that we have now (https://www.imax.com/content/theatr...iller-imax-3d-countries-outside-us-and-canada).

That was IMAX's responsibility as that is where all of the cinema locations are presented. It was all on that shit map location thing.

It could have been handled better for sure though. Definitely. But it's more IMAX's fault for sure I think.

i hate it. It throws me off so badly. Its definitely mixed wrong. I'm listening to it like hold up hold up. Thats not right!

I thought so. Glad it's not just me.

I do worry sometimes people think I'm just moaning for the sake of it on here, I feel my posts are often negative but it only comes from a place of love and wanting MJs work done right.
 
Yeah there's a phrase that comes in too early in the dance sequence. It doesn't sound drastically wrong though. Albeit I didn't listen to the full thing.

The Estate can **** off with that next year rubbish. How many years are we going to actually have to wait for it??

And I place the blame squarely on the Estate's shoulders. Why on earth would IMAX choose to show it in only two random British cinemas?

It's already in the UK -- but in 2 cinemas only: "Bradford Picturehouse" and "The Light" in Cambridge.
