So MJ has more catalogue albums in the chart, but is only #6 on the Year End Billboard 'Catalogue Artist' charts? I'm confused?
Yes, I did not understand that either. Billboard seems to have some weird algorhythms to calculate their year-end charts which at times does not seem to correspond with actual sales.
Here is the full Top 50 list:

The artists that Billboard placed ahead of MJ:
1. Blake Shelton
2. Led Zeppelin
3. Metallica
4. Fleetwood Mac
5. Michael Bublé
As you can see Blake Shelton has 2 albums in the Top 50 with a total sales of 227,000 copies.
Led Zeppelin has one album in the Top 50 with sales of 126,000.
Metallica is the closest to MJ with 3 albums and a total sales of 411,000, but still below MJ's number.
Fleetwood Mac - 2 albums, total of 339,000.
And Michael Bublé doesn't even have an album in the Top 50.
I looked up also the Holiday Albums' numbers because I thought Bublé would score there, but even there his biggest seller sold 72,000 copies.
HOLIDAY ALBUMS WEEK 49
Rank - Estimated Sales - TITLE - Artist ( Estimated Total Sales (m)) RIAA
01 - 221,000 - THAT'S CHRISTMAS TO ME - Pentatonix ( 1.37 ) ▲
02 - 81,000 - ADORE: CHRISTMAS SONGS OF WORSHIP - Chris Tomlin ( 0.08 )
03 - 72,000 - CHRISTMAS - Michael Bublé ( 3.80 )
04 - 44,000 - MERCYME IT'S CHRISTMAS - MercyMe ( 0.04 )
05 - 39,000 - IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME - Elvis Presley ( 1.71 ) ▲3
06 - 35,000 - NOEL - Josh Groban ( 5.86 ) ▲5
07 - 35,000 - A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS - Vince Guaraldi ( 3.52 ) ▲3
08 - 29,000 - THESE ARE SPECIAL TIMES - Celine Dion ( 5.39 ) ▲5
09 - 28,000 - MERRY CHRISTMAS - Mariah Carey ( 5.46 ) ▲5
10 - 27,000 - PTXMAS (EP) - Pentatonix ( 0.40 )
It's possible that some of these artists have many albums between #50- #100 or something. Led Zeppelin reissued all of their studio albums in the past year, so it is possible with them and maybe Metallica if they have one or two albums more in the top 100 because they are so close to MJ, but with the others Billboard placed ahead of him I have doubts. I somehow doubt it that artists like Fleetwood Mac have that many albums that chart. It's Rumours and their GH that people usually buy from them. And Bublé would have to have a great number of his albums between #50-#100 to be able to overtake MJ's 444,000 tally which also seems to be very doubtful considering that his most constant seller is his Christmas album which as you have seen sold only 72,000 copies.
And add to that also this:
Number of Weeks with Multiple Catalog Albums on Catalog or BB200 chart, 2015:
#1 Eminem 49
#2 Michael Jackson 47
So according to Billboard MJ is the #2 artist with the most number of weeks with multiple catalog albums on the BB200 chart, only behind Eminem. So how Billboard came up with that other chart where they place MJ only at #6 among catalog artists is a bit confusing considering all of the above.
