There was an old man with a beard,
A funny old man with a beard
He had a big beard
A great big old beard
That amusing old man with a beard.

karl => related to the name Karl? :)

In German we also have Kerl, meaning dude, bloke
The name ‘Karl’ we pronunce ‘Kal,’ while the word ‘karl’ we pronunce ‘Kar.’

I bet your ‘Kerl’ is related to our ‘karl.’

We also have ‘kärl,’ but that has a soft ‘k’ and both the ‘r’ and ‘l’ are pronunced (although the former is very subtle).

It’s this Wochenende bloke that sounds like Michael.
