The Last Person to Post in This Thread Wins

oh god, I need to go back to sleep. I can't make head nor tail of anything today, lol.

Wendi's mystery? Eh? What?
I didn't write well, I apologize. Wendy wrote a few lines and suggested that everyone think about them. I was looking for information and found this song and liked it.

I hope it didn't get worse and I didn't confuse more)))))

oh, that's so interesting. You're one of THOSE, are you? We need to talk about this.

To be perfectly frank, I don't really like FNM at all, only the music and even then only the first 3 albums. After that I lost interest. But the band, as a band, never did it for me even though those albums were golden and I went to a bunch of gigs.

Man, this is so interesting.

Yeah, I heard about that. Thing is, he was a really nice guy in person. I met him very, very briefly, just the once, and he was a typical American. Very polite, charming, very thoughtful. And then you hear all this other stuff and it just makes no sense. I could never decide if I wanted to know what he was really like or not. A lot of stuff could have just been made up. Plus FNM themselves used to fan the flames and put out shit bc they were so bored with interviews and the whole 'music industry' nonsense, all of which they hated which is fair enough. They hated interviews, which I can understand, and they would deliberately talk shit just for the sake of it.

So who can really say what Mike is really like and what is true and what isn't?

they are the bridge i think between ......better than pearl jam ? lol
I'll always give Pearl Jam a pass bc of the Alive video which is brilliant and one of my all time fave videos ever. I never listened to anything else they ever did and I don't care if it's brilliant or crap. That one video was a perfect, perfect rock n' roll moment and bc of that they are golden.

I think the problem here is the million mile wide gap between musicians as peeps who create fucking awesome music which you love and adore and which totally captures your every thought and musicians as real people who behave badly just bc they can or they even just lie and pretend to behave badly just bc they can and the music industry enables them and indulges them.

I love Physical Graffiti, the album. I hate every single thing I've ever read about Led Zeppelin behind the scenes. The ever present dichotomy. 🤷‍♀️

As a kid , he always came over as sarcastic to me but on a you tube video he's in an orange ...idk shirt and he was eating a burger , well i was war faring the whole comment section up and someone said well he suffers with anxiety , very thoughtful etc so who can tell ? and i did re do the comment section but still , but looking back he was intimidating 2 me , him and james hetfield
So who can really say what Mike is really like and what is true and what isn't?

nope i don't like pj ...nope , nooo , nope big nope, stoney nope , jeff no. none of that - i like their singer before , andrew wood -however , that all borders on seattle sound / grunge whichever way i look at it , and grun was never ever ever evevr ever me , ever.
with the exception of a bit of soundgarden / chris cornell but even so , not my heart
That one video was a perfect, perfect rock n' roll moment and bc of that they are golden.

pretend to behave badly just bc they can and the music industry enables them and indulges them.

In that interview, first of all that was the period where he was suddenly elevated to being the sex symbol in the band which he absolsutely HATED with a vengeance. He hated it. You could literally see it in all the press photos at the time. He was hating and resisting that shit with every fibre of his body. Plus that particular interview was abominably bad and boring and stupid and just epitomises the shit that bands have to go through and they get no say in it, they just have to buckle down and do it. I loathed that interview and I only had to watch the thing.

He was sarcastic but he was bored, uncomfortable and bewildered by the crap he was being put through. That was all so glaringly obvious to me.

well i was war faring the whole comment section up and someone said well he suffers with anxiety , very thoughtful etc so who can tell ? and i did re do the comment section but still , but looking back he was intimidating 2 me ,
See, I don't see him as intimidating at all. Bored. Irritated. Somewhat childish, perhaps, but he's a rock star and they get indulged so the childish shit will come out now and again.

He was also charming, polite, witty and considerate.

nope i don't like pj ...
I don't like or dislike Pearl Jam, I just love that video and the song is very uplifting and rousing. The chorus - that has got me through a lot of shit so I'll always have a soft spot for them.

"I'm still alive" - it doesn't get much more potent than that. And Eddie's performance of that particular lyric in the video, it's all part of it. That will always be important to me so I'll always stand up for them.

The lyrics of that song hit hard. Every time.

music touches people in different ways , beauty of music

but ....epic was epic. 1 of my fave songs in the world and the dude can write.

I think lots of bands / musicians do and I think the whole system stinks but that doesn't necessarily make them bad people. That is why I always just focus on the music. It begins and ends there for me.

if he was made to do all that , thoughts would certainly be different we'll he was a baby
He was a baby. He was 20 when he wrote the lyrics for the Real Thing album. He was only 21 when Epic blew up and they got really big. Suddenly he's in a crazy world he never really wanted to be in. He never wanted to be a sex symbol, he didn't want that level of fame, he just wanted to be an artist. I mean, he also wanted to be a d**khead and muck about with his Bungle mates but he has built a really interesting career for himself as an artist. He's done opera type stuff, he's done stuff with classical orchestras, he's worked with Norah Jones. He adores John Zorn's work. He's been in a million tiny, unknown bands, he set up his own record label. He SO is not your typical rock star and I don't believe he ever wanted to be. But record companies make you do stuff when they can see that there is loads of money to be made. That band did 4 tours of Europe alone in less than 18 months promoting Real Thing. That's too much. No wonder they all went crazy. Anyone would.

and I will do the same bc that song has literally got me through shit I coudn't even talk about. I don't give a tiny toss about PJ as a band but that song, I will always defend them for that one song and video. Every fucking time.

but ....epic was epic. 1 of my fave songs in the world and the dude can write.
The lyrics Mike Patton came up with for Real Thing just blow my mind. He was a baby, fgs! I mean, the lyrics for some of the Bungle songs he had already done, yeah, you can see the talent is there. But those FNM lyrics, they were whole other level. Not saying he was a better lyricist than Chuck but, man oh man, he was good. Just Real Thing and Zombie Eaters alone, the man was genius.
