Re: The Jacksons - A Family Dynasty (Live TV Stream)

Why do you say that?
This party was when the show started, could it not be that they MIGHT make extend it now?
Does anyone know if the show's been a hit or not?

I hav'nt found ratings, but going on word of mouth there isn't much going around.

here's a review I found: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr...s-a-family-dynasty-tv-review-1004052440.story
Its written by Randee Dawn:

Bottom Line: Too little, too soon.
Faced with the loss of a beloved brother, who also was an international icon, it seems unlikely that most folks would decide, mere months later, to sign for a cable reality show.

But the Jackson family is not like most folks. They are sui generis, an entity unto itself. And Marlon, Tito, Jermaine and Jackie -- four of the original Jackson 5 -- are the sort of people who would sign on to A&E's new six-parter "The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty." The show was to have been a one-off, framing the brothers' reunion for a 40th anniversary album and possible tour, but following Michael Jackson's death in June, things changed.

The series begins amid the foursome mounting that album, even working on some dance moves. They're a little rusty but sparkle the moment they step in unison or croon out a lead vocal. (Michael never was involved in the project.) Personal lives get a light going-over, from a party with the "second-generation Jacksons" (conspicuously missing are Michael's children) and a spotlight on Jermaine's wife-cum-manager Halima, who keeps him in line and provides reality checks. The brothers bicker and fist-bump their way through early recording days, and Jermaine proves to be something of a prima donna.

Michael's death comes as a shock to all, but no one sends the cameras home -- and within days the brothers are back doing talking-head interviews, picking up more or less where they left off.

Still, anyone other than hard-core Jacksons fans will have to seek insight elsewhere. There's a great moment when Tito asks everyone to back off of him a little; he can't help it if he looks like their father. But overall, spontaneity is a dead thing in "Dynasty," mainly because the stiffly formal brothers hide behind sunglasses or joke around (cue Marlon), and the episodes feel like a high-concept press kit.

Ultimately, however, the degree to which this series tweaks consciences -- or piques interest -- will depend on viewers, not the brothers. Whatever grievances they have with one another, or egos they battle in the studio, they are fully committed to the process. The Jacksons are the embodiment of the song "Let Me Entertain You," and they know that, no matter what, the show must go on.

That's sad, if true, because I really wish Michael's family success.
I think that's what Michael would have wanted, they are as close to him we come these days...=(

Re: The Jacksons A Family Dynasty - Watch here!!!

In that youtube link I provided Marlon said the show was over and was kidding when he said he was glad it was.
Then in the other post about the Dynasty in the 2300 Jackson St. section, someone said that's what they did so a DVD can be ready for release, something like that.

This 'review' is chock full of misinformation. My responses to some of the nonsense it contains:

a.) In Episode 1 the J4 explain at the start of the program that their TV show was in the planning stage and agreed to months before MJ's health problems and unexpected death.

b.) If I'm interpreting Ms. Dawn correctly, A&E actually had long term hopes for 'Family Dynasty' from its' inception and still does despite the sad loss of MJ. Furthermore the J4 stated in Episode 2 that the 40th Anniversary CD was being planned at least one year prior to the start of this show, and they had all already signed contracts for this new studio album which would contain some new material, and had agreed by contract to tour, the only question at issue is when in the future that will occur. Whether MJ was still alive or not at the time had nothing to do with changing these agreements or changing anything they had already planned.

c.) The J4 were under contract to film their daily lives, and thus legally obligated, the weeks during and after MJ's untimely death. They essentially had no choice, they were being pressed for a TV show from a national network (A&E Channel) and owned by a multi billion dollar conglomerate (Hearst/Disney-ABC Corps.). Having been in show business for the better part of a half century now, the J4 knew all too well the pressure that a major corporation demands for a product that is supposed to be delivered on a set time schedule. There's no delaying what the Corporation wants, and in this case, the death of MJ likely made it extremely difficult to fulfill their contractual obligations, but the brothers did so. Finally, the shocking death of MJ brought the international media and press corps to the Jacksons doorstep like never before, everyone wanted to hear from them and in their defense they actually responded as professional they could as a family. Considering their horrible tragedy, I'd give them high marks.

d.) Ms. Dawn that is a very bad choice of words, in light of MJ's unforseen death. What we are seeing in the episodes may in fact be more spontaneous than previously had been planned originally, before his loss. Furthermore, the J4 have complete control over what is being shown and I'd have to say so far we're being exposed to emotional sides of the J4 that should have never been seen in the first place. I think the brothers have allowed us to see more than we would have, had MJ still been with us now.

Great post Marty. I thank the brothers for allowing us to see them in thier lives and for them opening up emotionally to us.

Re: The Jacksons - A Family Dynasty (Live TV Stream)

Marty that is a great reponse. For this person to write this review such as this needs to get a second look at this show. This show to me is for fans to really see how the Jacksons are and not to think they are press hungry.

Yea, I saw that too... I was just thinking that it was Marlon's way of joking around, as he always does..=)

Oh well, I really want the best for The Jackson Family, 2010 should be their year. The pain we all are going through is nothing compared to what they must feel.

That's true. They are in much more pain than we are in. Hopefully there will be such a response or a petition or something and maybe there will be more new episodes. I'm not sure why whoever was in a hurry to get a DVD out was in such a hurry. I want the best for them too. They sure are a good family.

Re: The Jacksons A Family Dynasty - Watch here!!!

Re: The Jacksons A Family Dynasty - Watch here!!!

Tonight's new episode is going to be so hard, as the brothers will be or maybe won't be deciding to watch TII. I keep seeing a preview where Tito cries. :(

I have a feeling they'll all be crying. Really the only one of the Jackson brothers I haven't seen cry is Marlon, but of course I know he's hurting so bad too.

this post is full of misinformation, the brothers signed a contract with Rowe in the spring of 2007 , he tried to get MJ , MJ refused the intervention story started , then they were forced to deny it . they kept talking about reunion tour, a new cd throughout 2008 , Rowe again in May 2008 announced the brothers were ready and janet was going to open for them it was Michael's fault they could not proceed with everything and "without the engine , the car can't move" according to rowe himself .

They kept harassing him in October , he kept turning them down , then they signed a deal to do a one hour show in February 2009 , they started filming and the company tried to shop it around Hollywood , no one NO ONE was interested at all , and that was in May , when MJ was all over the news and the tabloids were outside his gates waiting for a glimpse of him .

basically , the siblings were told without MJ , no one was interested at all , and indeed at the time the show was videotaped and the final cut was available , they were not obligated to do any more by the contract .

after MJ's death , they renegotiated the deal , and during that time the siblings kept postponing the funeral , they first claimed they waited for a portion of mj's brain taken by the coroner , but the very small portion of the brain was returned to the family in the first week of August , yet the family kept postponing , on 23 of August they signed a COMPLETELY NEW DEAL with A&G , within days the family announced the funeral and A&G were there filming .

Sound, even though much as you said is true, that last part never happen. The brothers never showed the funeral. The parts we did see where stuff that was already showed on the news. They didn't even show the kids putting the crown on the coffin. So, even if they supposedly filmed the funeral for the show, it was never in it.

I also doubt they will show it in the last couple of episodes since that time has pass. The brothers have issues, but they are very tasteful so far about how they are handling Michael's death. They are also not using Michael's all the time, although he is the elephant in the room.

So, although this theory was very likely before the show started, it is now unfounded. You also should not state as a fact that A&E was the ones filming. Since their is no proof either way.

Re: The Jacksons - A Family Dynasty (Live TV Stream)

Thanks very much for the youtube links last week. It really made my new year.

So can someone work on getting tonight's one recorded/torrented/youtubed for the internationals again?

That would be great.
Bring on episode 4!

its on soon! getting my tissue ready :(

As it gets closer to the time, yeah I'll be just bringing the box of tissues. The end of The American Dream movie made me cry yesterday. No doubt it will tonight as I know what will be coming on next. Tito and his tears. Awww, :(

Re: The Jacksons A Family Dynasty - Watch here!!!

H.e.l.p

I don't have that TV channel :(

Re: The Jacksons - A Family Dynasty (Live TV Stream)

This is what A & E's saying about the latest episode:
03 - Come Together

Sunday, January 03rd 10:00 pm ET
Monday, January 04th 02:00 am ET
Sunday, January 10th 04:00 pm ET

With the premiere of Michael's concert documentary, This Is It, approaching, the Jackson brothers must face the emotional decision of whether or not to attend--knowing no matter what decision they make, they will face criticism. The night of the premiere is emotional for all the brothers, but especially Tito, who makes a last minute, unexpected decision. Later, all four brothers decide it's time to focus on their concert and retreat to a secluded location to avoid all other distractions. The first night gets off to a good start, until Jermaine decides it's time to face his brothers with a long held grudge.

04 - Lockdown

Sunday, January 10th 10:00 pm ET
Monday, January 11th 02:00 am ET

In Santa Barbara at their secluded location, hoping to focus on nothing but their upcoming concert, Jermaine continues to confront his brothers about their lack of support for his delayed Michael Tribute concert. The brothers make some progress in the recording studio, but it's not long before they begin to butt heads. When an argument between Jermaine and Marlon sends the recording session spiraling out of control, the entire project is suddenly put into question, and the brothers split into two, contentious groups.
