The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

Exactly! I don't understand how a song not having complete vocals somehow disqualifies it for some here. Would it have been great if MJ had shelved entirely finished albums a la Prince? Sure, but we've known for years that's not the case. Most outtakes will be unfinished ideas with maybe just chorus vocals, or a verse and a chorus, or maybe just an instrumental. I guess not everyone finds that interesting, but I'm eager to hear it all (in the way MJ left it behind, mind you).

Yeah totally agreed I'm interested to hear everything even if it's just a scrap. Also yeah as MJ left it is ideal.

Really? Visitors to USCO are required to pay a fee? Seems odd. I get that a fee might be required for depositing the copyrighted item (not sure about that, tbh) but visitors wishing to *listen* to something, surely they get that for free?

If you want to listen to stuff at the British Library (the UK equivalent to the Library of Congress) you don't pay. You do need a reader ticket and they are not issued automatically to just anyone. But once you have a ticket you don't pay to access the resources. I'd have thought a similar system was in place at LoC. Bit shocked if free access is not the case. Maybe I'm missing something. 🤔
I thought the same thing, but I was told there was a fee! If it’s free, I’m making my appointment right now haha.

Yeah, that’s the USA for ya! Anything for money.

Seriously, I would urge you to make enquiries. I just can't believe they'd be charging for this. Commercial / business users of research libraries have to pay for services they use, of course. But the public accessing these types of resources, once you get past the hurdle of actually getting a reader's ticket (you might only be allowed to have a day ticket, for example) would not be expected to pay.

Check it out!

can someone summarize all information regarding all unrealesed songs and keep it up to date with new insights?

He's answering everyone it's not like he minds. He most definitely won't feel bothered by a few more questions.

I would if I had an account and I don't feel like creating one just for this (I'm pretty inclined though). It's ok if you don't want to just don't be rude about it.
I'm not rude i talk like that

He was in DC few years ago afik
Thanks for replying mate. I was just wondering why he's released so much unheard information now. It seems as if he's just heard these demo's

The lyrics to Boy No sound heartbreaking, it seems to be very much a reflection of MJ's life in his last 3-4 years.
Michael was such a talented songwriter and vocalist when it came to conveying emotion

He might've had the notes all along but lost them, hence why he wasn't able to elaborate until now. Either that, or no one asked him about what he heard before this month.

If they are unfinished but in a state as LNFSG, fall again, days in gloucestershire, hollywood tonight etc then they’re perfectly releasable.

I Have This Dream is done. Ciara, Snoop, James Ingram, Jermaine, Shirley Caesar, the O’Jays and all the others recorded on it. R Kelly is also on the version I heard, but I was told that MJ wanted to remove him. The leaked "demo"

really is the same song.

Innocent Man has vocals in the chorus, which are the same as the lyrics from his handwritten notes (attached). There are no verses on what I heard, but MJ did write additional lyrics. So I'm not sure if he recorded them and I just didn't hear them, or if he didn't record them.
P.S. The vocals in the chorus are very softly sung. It's not falsetto, but it's super soft. The antithesis of an "aggressive" vocal. Considering the subject of the song, I was surprised about the vocal delivery. I was expecting angry MJ.
My notes for Neverland Landing just say "children's song". Light The Way has a horn section intro, and a choir in the choruses. According to my notes, the choir sings: "Light the way, let's pray for peace". Slow song. No lead vocal on what I heard. Just music + choral chorus.

How has Damien come by all this new information? Has he gone to Washington and listened to them recently?

Can someone please explain this wih more information? It is possible to fly to Wahshington to a library and listen there to unreleased MJ music? :D

All of this info is cool but this pretty much killed all my interest on the Bahrain tracks lol. We already have I Have This Dream basically. Light The Way has no vocals. I hope He Who Makes The Sky Gray at least has something interesting to it.

On the other hand Boy No has become one of my most wanted tracks now lol.

Now please someone ask him about Broken Chair, Bang Your Head, H20, Water and He Who Makes The Sky Gray so we can put the 2000s tracks to rest lmao

Listening to “I Have This Dream” now.

Yeah, maybe it’s best it didn’t come out.

Someone should ask what songs are actually releasable, not necessarily what state specific tracks are in. That’s my biggest curio.

Tomboy, I don't know. I heard a version at the US Copyright Office, but the version I heard was instrumental. It had a VERY "Captain EO" vibe to it, and a melody line in the music strikingly similar to (basically the same as) the "I bet you remember" line in Remember The Time.
The version I heard had just one verse and a chorus.

I just asked Damien how many songs are in a good state for release and he said “just one”. It is a a cover of the beatles song “i’m only sleeping” but it is really just a sound recording of MJ actually sleeping.
I’m kind of bummed really 🫤

I appreciate that Damien's only stating the information he knows or has listened to.

On the other hand, I doubt that there is only one song that is releasable and it's a cover of a filler track from The Beatles album Revolver

Rocker, for example, is a full song. 2 verses, 2 choruses, a killer guitar solo bridge, amazing ad libs at the end. But it’s all ONE take, and MJ is spitting complete nonsense in the verses.
(About Hot Fun In The Summertime)
I was told it was recorded sometime between 1998-2003. After MJ's death, the song was found in Marvin's Room studio (owned by Estate co-executor John McClain), and those recording dates line up with a) when MJ worked at Marvin's Room, and b) when MJ was managed by McClain.

I mean its good to have all these insider informations now. Its also kinda frustrating tbh. Like is the vault really that empty? Can we make a list of songs that we know (!) are in a releasable state. Like they could appear on a project similar to Xscape.

Hot Fun in the Summertime
CGYWOOM
I Was The Loser (?)
Chicago 1945

What other songs do we know are finished (enough) for a proper release?

When they released Xscape they said they choose from what? 24 completely finished songs, all good enough to be released, didn't they?? I remember they said a number they choose from, and they choose songs MJ had recorded vocals many times becuase it proved to them MJ liked the song.

So there must be some songs in the vault.

Ok lets try to reconstruct the 24 songs that were in contention for Xscape.

1 LNFSG
2 Chicago
3 Loving You
4 A Place With No Name
5 Slave To The Rhythm
6 Do You Know Where Your Children Are
7 Blue Gangsta
8 Xscape

3 of those had already leaked many years prior (maybe more I’m not an expert).
So what 16 songs are left?

9 Hot Fun In The Summertime
10 Chicago 1945
11 Can’t Get Your Weight Off Of Me
12 Throwing Your Life Away

We can only assume many of the T40 tracks were among this this as well as other leaked tracks like monkey bussiness, serious effect, work that body…

This is all just pure guesswork from my part but since all htese tracks never got officialy released I think they were in contention.
