The Discussion of MJ's Unreleased Tracks

The official upload is not film sourced. It's the tape master, remastered and upscaled.
The other one from WOWOW, the Japanese channel, looks like a raw scan of a film print.
Fair enough. Interesting. In that case, can't they do that for the OTW clips? And Billie Jean?

How is the actual film remastered "fake HD" but a likely AI restoration "the real deal"? Just sounds salty. And this has nothing to do with unreleased tracks too.

I Never said it’s “the real deal” I said it looks way better. Also the official upload is no film scan and not remastered. It’s a tape source. The one from WOWOW is way better and actually looks like a film scan.

Depends on each case. For example, Ghosts was released once. The OTW videos and BJ were included on various releases over the years.
You have to remember tape degradation is a thing and these I mentioned seem to have been dubbed numerous times.

I heard of a hacker having them, but when he got arrested nearly a decade ago the police seized his harddrives which well... even included that one.

Now someone needs to hit up the lawyers for that multitrack LOL. RIP Tabloid Junkie.
It's most likely out there, given how there's a Tabloid Junkie instrumental with BGVs out there whose authenticity as a purported "alternate mix" is disputed.

That maybe is a significant deterrent.

I don't why but I have this feeling that there is a lot material from Michael that the Estate has no idea about. He was sporadic at best when it came to cataloguing stuff, I wouldn't be shocked if more stuff will be discovered.

Also I'd assume collaborators are holding stuff back, similar to Darkchild with Xscape

Yes. For exemple dream away .we never knew that title before

I have a question regarding the song “This Is It”, I know this was figured out prob a while ago but the one from Paul Anka’s “Duets” album is different from the “This Is It” soundtrack. What I am assuming is that the one from Paul Anka is a remix of the demo and the one from the soundtrack is a remix of a later recorded version not from Thriller. Am I correct?

Paul Anka’s version uses the same vocal take, however, there are additional vocals and adlibs to that song that have not leaked.

Not the one form Paul Anka is a finished version the demo is different it have Paul and Michael on it but the instrumental is not like the one that Paul Released on his album the one form the estate is a Michael solo version that he did himself when he took the tape form Anka and copy on it before he give it back to him

Are you sure? They don’t really sound the same. Paul Anka’s version matches with the demo snippet we have, while the solo one doesn’t.

This Is It is the only one to have multitracks. The version the estate had was a tape from MJs posessions that they overdubbed. Perhaps an alt recording and not just a copy?

LNFSG of course had no such multitracks.
