Daughter is watching preview of #OTW docu, and laughing at Questlove's forks comments. THIS is what pulls new fans in to MJs world.

SHO Docs & Specials @SHO_Docs
He’s an inspiration. He’s a legend. He will live forever. Don’t miss the WORLD PREMIERE on 2/5 on @Showtime. #MJFam

Here you go: third row next to the last word.. "bizarre". That word just does not sound right or good. In any way or context to me.

Really? It doesn't matter to you in what context a word is? Context "only" makes all the difference after all, so yeah, what does it matter?

Interesting how MJ performed DSTYGE during 2nd and 3d leg of Destiny Tour. In the OTW preview, they showed a clip of DSTYGE from Destiny Tour and then another clip from Triumph Tour.....so I was confused cause I didn't know he had performed it during Destiny! Just love the entrance to that song in '79, coming out of the cube box......and then performing with the cherry picker in '81.

Just goes to show how much details we can miss from the lousy pathetic quality shows we currently have of both Destiny and Triumph Tours.

Re: *TEASER* Off The Wall | From Motown to Off the Wall

My Project for the Day is to figure out how to get this free trial for Showtime.

You go to the showtime anytime site and start a free trial. You may need to put in a credit card, but as long as you cancel before the trial is over, you don't get charged.

No project necessary

Back then it wasn't exactly kind of a cherry picker. It was a fixed, immovable small platform but higher and above the main stage.

The only difference is that the guy in the doc said MJ's lyrics are bizarre and the guy in that article said that MJ is bizarre (or something similar to that). But we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Paul Lester is a joke if it is true that was a supporter but continues this mockery of MJ.

We all know Michael wasn't normal, he was an artist and human being out of this world but who could be normal with the kind of upbringing he had and the massive amount of talent he possessed? In most cases when iit comes to him or anything related to him, bizarre has a negative connotation.

who cares? it's just a word, and MJ could at times be bizarre. he didn't operate like ordinary motals. he was in a rarified level like most geniuses.

"i wasnt aware that the world thought I was so weird and bizarre. But When you grow up as I did, in front of one hundred million people, since the age of 5, you're automatically different" Michael Jackson

I read that piece by Paul Lester over on Amazon-the nicest thing I can say is pretentious-a lot of it I couldn't understand, and I disagreed with pretty much of the stuff I did understand. He seems like one of those people that ramble on and on and don't really say anything.

Not sure if the entire concert was recorded in this quality, reason being that I believe the clip is from the Sylvia Chase news special.
@ 9:08

Typically with news specials like these, the news crew would only be allowed to film a certain number of songs. I hope this isn't the case for this concert, especially since it seems like it's from a film source :)
So I have a question regarding the possibility of a tour concert release-quite a few pages back I pointed out that this footage was from the Sylvia Chase special to Tygger because he/she said that the footage proved the Estate was holding on to a complete Tour and was greedy/lazy. I was ignored.

So personally I don't think the Estate would be the ones holding up any kind of Triumph or Victory release. Not sure about Quincy-obviously his lawyers have told him that he could get a lot more money than he has already-he seemed to be fine with the Cirque show (showing up at the Graumans hand/footprints ceremony) and then suddenly not.

But does anybody here follow Marlon, Jackie, Jermaine or Tito on Twitter or Facebook and could possibly ask them about it? I'm thinking that if it is the brothers, they could do a vote like they used to in the old days and the majority wins if they want to release their own tour. Maybe no one has told them how much the fans want to see their tours.

Thanks-I see that's internet only. I was trying to see if Comcast, my cable provider might have a free thing too-looks like they offered free weekends in January, but not next month. I think I will call them and try to figure out if I can add Showtime for a month.
I guess if worse comes to worse, I can do it through the internet-I just want to see it.

hi everyone, hope you are all well. i had to remember my login details as i have not been able to bring myself to watch or read anything Michael ever since, but i just wanted to wish you all well. and im glad to be back!

anyway i wanted to ask what about a petition? If we get loads of sigs by us the fans we have a voice maybe the estate will release these concerts if there is a full one of course, but i think there is remember Michael recorded every single show he did.

Can a petition be done?

EDIT * oh wow my first post in over 6 years and i totally forgot i had images for my sig: why cant i see them? has the coding advanced???

EDIT2* Just created a Petition. Hope MJ Estate will hear us if we make a big enough impact.

It was in a book written after MJ's death, apperently to go against the wave of sympathy and celebration of his talent after his death. It seems like a bunch of snobish critics who just could not stand the fact that his legacy is so big and means so much for people and decided they needed to create an "anti" book as a reaction to that to show how they are above all that.

There is another book called Otherness and Power - Michael Jackson and His Media critics: http://www.amazon.com/Otherness-Power-Michael-Jackson-Critics/dp/0578138026

It was written by Susan Woodward and it analyzes three publications that were overly critical of MJ (Trapped: Michael Jackson and the Crossover Dream, an 1985 book written by Dave Marsh, Maureen Orth's 2003 Vantity Fair article and this book from 2009). It's a thin book but IMO it's great in reflecting on the obvious prejudices in these works and the motives, sentiments and narrow-mindedness that probably drove them.

Oh, I thought you meant for the internet version (which is Showtime Anytime)

You can stream it online in a browser or apple tv/chrome/playstaion/xbox/roku/etc etc etc as well.

Thats what I did last year and binged the 5th season of Shameless.

I figured that out. But is it positive or negative to have him in the doc? I'm confused because elusive posted that he "wore history t.shirts in the 90's and supported mj". That sounds positive to me. But I don't understand what "You have to laugh at the fakeness of these feckers" means.

Because during the history era he was a "fan" saw him on tv quite alot supporting mj and wearing history tops. I guess once he got a job with the guardian he had to fall into line with the maintream medias agenda. Hence the fake coment

What it is "bizarre" to you, it may have been the norm to him.

Yeah, but most of you missed the point. Offensive or not, in context or not. The lyrics of DSTYGE are not bizarre in any way and in any context. If he had said that the "Morphine" or "Come Together" lyrics are bizarre, I would say ok, maybe they are because even I don't know what the hell is MJ talking about in those songs and that can be open for discussion and interpretation. But I don't see what can possibly be bizarre in DSTYGE lyrics. Pretty straightforward lyrics about love.

"i wasnt aware that the world thought I was so weird and bizarre. But When you grow up as I did, in front of one hundred million people, since the age of 5, you're automatically different" Michael Jackson

You see, again in a negative context. As being weird as the world thought. But he wasn't weird and bizarre. He was just different. But the commentator decided to use word bizarre and not different.

Exactly my thoughts. I couldn't understand a lot of it so I just skipped it. Totally pretentious.

He did record every single show he did. But for archiving purposes, not for release. The majority of those shows are just jumbotron footage without audio multitracks and such concerts can't be released. Of course some concerts have been professionally filmed for release. But those are few shows from every tour, not every single one he did.

I'm confused:scratch:
Was that Paul Lester guy interviewed for this documentary?

So surprised to see David Byrne in there too. Nice eclectic group of artists.

Once again: Paul Lester has NOTHING to do with this documentary. He was randomly brought up by someone.

Well maybe not every person is as smart and evolved as you.

I really can't believe how bizarre you have been about a single, harmless sentence. I wonder how sensitive you would be to something actually worth getting upset about.

Are we still going on about how he horrendously and viciously used the word bizarre?

I hope we get some nice clips of Rock With You from 79 too.

There's really no need to be sarcastic and rude. I have my opinion, you have yours. I didn't say anything rude to you or to anyone else.
