So the hand flap thing IS a dance move after all.

he´s the only one who can make "the penguin" and "the soldier legs" look cool.. lol :D

tbh i agree

sorry i didnt mean to sound so serious lol it is funny none the less :)

Hm, I'm not so convinced it's an actual dance move, but if it is then cool!
I don't know, it kind of seemed like stage direction to me, that he was trying to blend into his dance.

Like he was telling someone to back up or indicating that something should happen at that point, like jdmd2004 said.

Even if it isn't a dance move, you've got to hand it to the man for being so smooth that he could make us all think a simple stage direction was a new dance move. ;)

I don't think this was a move for the concert. I think he was just testing out moves to see if they would work... I don't think he would have used "The Penguin" in the real concerts.

Don't know if it's a dance move or not but it's damn hard!

The "penguin" move in the extended clip kind of looks like he is slapping someone's butt...

I was sooo like this first:         @both
but then like this:  considering everything else.

My only worry is now that I will cry throughout most of the movie but won't be able to stop myself from LAUGHING OUT LOUD on those parts!!!! do you think they will kick me out of the cinema????!!! ... ;)

It looked better on this. Bit random though. Maybe its just a new stage signal.

Just because he did it twice doesnt mean its a dance move.

If it is a dance move, not the best thing hes ever done. But ill love anything MJ does. I would have payed to go and watch him play in a chess tournament.......

Seriously...id find that quite funny. Id definately pay to see it.

Remember on the 21st of June, one of Michael's handlers called his nurse/nutritionist Cherilyn Lee complaining that one side of his body was hot, the other was cold. Circulation problems.
I don't think it's a dance move at all. I think he is trying to alleviate numbness or pins and needles in his arms and trying to improve poor circulation.

I still don't think it's a new dance move even though they showed it twice now. If it is I really do have to wonder wth Michael was thinking. But I can see people trying to mimic this "aggressive dolphin" move all over the globe now.

All his moves are a bit different then before. I dont think its a new dance mvoe. Its just something different then before. He was trying new thinks i guess. If there is a new dance move it will be much bigger.

of course it is a dance move! Wake up!

And it looks so cool.

Way to be a downer...Anywhoo..

I don't think it was a move at all, just a way of signaling the camera movement for when the concert was eventually going to be filmed.

I do agree though, it looks way cooler in the extended clip.

Mike already did that in the `90s people... during some of the HIStory concerts he was just standig towards the public and flapped his had like that... but not to the front, but left and right.. guess it has something to do with the rythm (maybe for the band).

We do have to remember, that this was just rehearsals. Reheasals are for blocking out positions on stage, lighting, sound, and so on. Michael NEVER expected this to be released to the public. With that said, the "penguin" should never have seen the light-of-day. It looked like some sort of "fit" or something. Sorry, but. . it's totally ridiculous. Not his fault, but. . damn. . . And the "swimming" and hand-flaps? It was a rehearsal, ok?

I don't consider it a dance move really.. just him feeling the music. Not really different than him holding his hands up as if he's pleading, or doing the thing where he just shakes his hands.

It was rehearsal, he was having fun, or not giving his all. He never intended us to see this, never. I remember we asked him to take us in to the rehearsals back in early June, and he said yes, but later, as he was not ready for us to see him...he wanted us to see the perfected show, not him putting it together...he was a perfectionist...and the family says the same...but I do understand how this gets fans excited though

no I'm talking about this \/ @0:23 and 0:38 he looks like hes trying to fly on her @$$ or something

0:38 - That's a classic "jazz run" or "Jazz drag", he's just being really silly with it during rehearsal =P The "penguin" or "angry dolphin", though...I dunno 'bout that one, LoL. That's all MJ's creation. =D

Oh no...don't...

No way is this an intended dance move that we would have seen on stage. It's a greatly exaggerated version of a move he used to sometimes make at this point. At first I thought it was a stage direction. After seeing it twice, I figure he's cutting up, making fun of himself a bit. Either that, or it's a placeholder for something else that would be happening at that moment. Those of you who think this is a dance move must not be dancers, is all I can say! :) Once you know how to move as he did, your body just doesn't forget what feels right and what doesn't.

actually this time I didn't laugh at it but what I did laugh at was the way he was following that girl in TWYMMF :lmao: we should call it something...

Ya know it reminds me of him in his private home movies when he was Easter egg hunting. He was frolicking with his basket. Aww I miss him.

I think we should call it "the frolick" or the "Peter Pan"...

Really good thought. I think there's a very very good possibility that that's exactly what it was, just like his silly filler lyrics he streams while he's in the songwriting process.

Sorry, just had to post that. I love it too much. =)

I am an MJ tribute artist but I will NEVER do this dance move haha. I dont reckon it is one. To me it looks like he is cueing the band for something.
