Reminds me of the time, Jermaine Dupree made a HUGE deal that he would have "all" members of the Jackson 5 in attendance at his New Year's Eve party.

So it's almot midnight, and Jermaine, Tito, Jackie, and Marlon come out on stage, and a woman SCREAMS out: "Where's Michael!"

It was downhill from that point forward!

If the brothers are recoring new material, then count me in! I love Tito's We Made It and Jermaine's The First Time You Love. Some of the tracks on The Jack5ons Family Dynasty showed real promise as well. I hope things are coming together for them.

I wish them all success. I think they are talented but it takes a lot to get them motivated on their own. Hopefully, this is the spark for them. :yes:

I agree..it is a good move for them...after all I am sure that their fans are excited to hear fresh new stuff. I know if Michael were still here and he was putting out new stuff...I would be excited too.

Has randy been airbrushed out of the jackson family? It was odd to read jackie saying how excited he was to be performing with all his brothers when one of them is a no-show - he was an important part of the jacksons. What with latoya's remark, the family just seem really cold and tactless.

The only money in the music biz seems to be in touring so it's a no-brainer for them to try and do this. It's obviously something they've been hankering after since forever, I just can't begin to imagine the constant pressure the brothers must have heaped on mj since '84 to tour, wasn't it part of their impact statement that they would miss performing with mj. Lol at jermaine for probably being the hold -out as he negotiated singing his greatest solo hits.
 
That was the weakest impact statement I have ever heard in my life. I’m thinking that Randy has been behind a lot of anti-Estate crap. Maybe he has alienated his brothers with some of his back alley shenanigans?

Of course it was always Michael's voice and performance that made me like the Jacksons as a whole group and the news they were going to tour again didn't thrill me very much. Without Michael, nah.....Until I clicked that link and I saw these big red letters 'The Jacksons' and 'Can you feel it' blasted through my speakers. I got to know Michael through The Jacksons. I was 11yrs old when they had a nr. 7 position for 11 wks in the Dutch charts with 'Blame it on the Boogie', 12yrs old when 'Shake your body' reached a nr. 3 position for 3 weeks, 13yrs when 'Lovely One' was a nr. 13 for 6 wks and 14 yrs old when 'CAN YOU FEEL IT' got to the nr. 2 position for 13 weeks.

And then I realized: They ARE The Jacksons. The group with the songs I loved so much. There is nothing to complain about, really. Of course it's sad that Michael's death (let's be honest here) made this possible for them, but they have every right to do what they do.

I agree with you there Victory22.. I didn't feel any love or warmth from that impact statement. Not something I would say if a close relative of mine was murdered.

The Jacksons (Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito Jackson) are touring together this summer for the first time since 1984, when they toured their Victory LP. According to a press release, they'll be playing all the band's classics, and Jackie Jackson is quoted saying, "I know at each concert, MJ's spirit will be in the house with us."
The tour takes place in June and July and hits NYC on June 28 at The Apollo before the band plays two NJ shows in Atlantic City (7/29) and Englewood (7/30). Tickets for the Apollo show are on Live Nation presale now and go on sale to the general public on Saturday (tomorrow, 4/14) at 10 AM.

There's several reasons they didn't tour since 1984

-Lack of support/sponsors/promoters. Part of the reason why the tour Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Randy were planning for 2300 Jackson Street never happened
-Lack of interest after the Victory Tour
-Mismanagement
-The brothers not being motivated/dedicated enough
-Solo work. After the Victory album and tour, Jermaine went back to doing solo work, Michael quit and went solo fully, Marlon quit and went solo for a brief time before quitting the music business, Jackie went to write songs, Tito went solo and managed 3T, and Randy was a executive for some indie labels (both folded). Maybe they wanted to find their own path and wanted to focus on other things.
-Fueding among the brothers. They haven't been on the same page for years, and that showed during the reality show and other ventures

But now if they want to come together and actually pull it off, good for them.....

Now if they try to perform MICHAEL'S solo stuff, then that's a BIG problem lol

I personally think that they weren't willing to go the distance and fight their way through like Michael did during his solo career!!!!



Another major problem was Jermaine's jealousy of Michael. Enough said about that!

They seem to use tweets about how practice/rehearsals went as exposure for the show, the same way they used constant tweets about rehearsals to get hype for the tribute show. I hope that strategy works for them because they need to sell a lot of tickets. I notice a lot of oldie acts have young female dancers to add some spark and wonder if the brothers will do the same. I am still curious about who will sing lead--any news about this? Any news about the sponsors, like pepsi? Maybe Jackie will be selling the jackets at the venues?

I expect opening night will have all the Jacksons present including Michael's children, but maybe no Randy. This will be a bitter sweet day for grandma because she longed to see her sons touring again. Papa Joe should be very happy too. I wonder if he will show up with some perfume to sell?

To be perfectly honest, anything this family could try to do, business wise, now that Michael is gone, looks suspicious, even if there's no reason for it. The fact that they were totally silent before 09, and all the sudden (re) launching careers in the music business is too blatant. It's too much going from one extreme to the other.

So I'll try to be very unbiased and neutral. They want to go back on stage? Go ahead. I'm curious, about many things that have been said here, mainly about who's going to sing. I wouldnt spend my money to see them, personally. But if they write new songs, and they're good, and not just a "lets do it like Michael" kind of thing, I may even buy them, who knows?

Marlon and Jackie sang a lot of the notes during the Triumph tour I think when Michael came down with a terrible throat infection and fever. Rowe mentioned it in his book and said Michael went on stage so sick one night he passed out backstage after the show but gave his ALL for the fans.

Everyone, including no-talent reality show contestants are singing MJ songs. Laughable, some want to deny his own flesh and blood.

I don't begrudge the Jacksons commercial success.

I don't know what to think about it. I remember that Victory tour footage - the last time when I saw them performing together - so when Michael needed a break and got away from the scene Jermaine started to sing. And it was too boring, the whole audience was buzzing and than Michael came back and everybody went crazy. I felt a little sorry for Jermaine to be honest cuz it looked not just like nobody wanted to see them without Michael but it also Jermaine was too boring to be a lead singer.

I attended a show during the Victory tour and you are right. Fans got up and went to get refreshments and use the bathroom while MJ took a break and Jermaine took over. Michael was who I wanted to see. I felt sorry for the brothers because the noise and getting up was rude.

I am not even gonna lie...I want JERMAINE to fail hard because that's what he deserves: a big fat fail with a bow on it. Am I biased? Hell yeah...and utterly disgusted by EVERYTHING Jermaine does. Because he is purely driven by 1) jealousy & 2) greed.

But if it succeeds I'll be slightly happy for MJ...finally they will let go of his tits.
