i think we all need to calm our hot heads down and think before we speak.
It is my opinion, the people contantly saying "fake vocals" are part of a "strange" destructive campaign against the continuation of the musical legacy of Michael Jackson.
Yeahhhhhh. Fans that have been here for years. We have been planning this for years. Before MJ's death.
Ok, so...
. . . And to those who say MJ always exercised humility in his songs, and therefore the lyrics on 'Breaking News' don't suit him... I have to disagree. To me, songs like 'Bad' and 'Threatened', and other works such as 'Brace Yourself' and the HIStory Teaser show MJ projecting himself as being larger than life, and I think that he loved the controversy those pieces created and the way it got everyone's attention.
If you check posts in positive-BN and then in negative-BN thread you'll see that anti-BN people don't talk there, they are here and in other general threads. This thread has gone from being contructive to very destructive.
Please. If it were "fans" who had occassionally been listening to MJ saying that I would buy that comment, but when it is basically 98% of the fans who have been MJ fans for DECADES saying it's not MJ, you've got a serious problem.
. . .
Where are people getting these percentages from?
We can't talk about the Estate's verification if people are going to be pulling numbers like this.
Who are this bunch of people though? Rodney Jerkins? I'm sorry, but I'll believe Bruce Swedien, Greg Phillinganes, Teddy Riley and Dorian Holly over Rodney any day. No disrespect, but all of them worked with MJ a lot more and a lot longer than he did.
And yes, there have been a lot of reports saying that his mother and children don't think it is him... But I have not seen any official statements from any of them. Again, I have all the respect in the world for Mrs. Jackson and Michael's kids, but I am not convinced that this is their actual opinion until I see an official statement from them or hear it from their own mouths.
All we got is 3T tweeting like their lives depend on it, Jackie Jackson contradicting himself and La Toya... Well, being La Toya. And they haven't worked with MJ for a very, very long time -- 3T and Janet were the last ones, during the HIStory project, and that was 15 years ago. Oh, and we got Jermaine saying that he, literally, "knows nothing". And the two family members whose opinion I'd value most in this situation, Janet and Randy, have (for as far as I know) kept quiet.
Edit: I do agree about the raw demo -- I'd like to hear it as well. I'm already convinced, but I'm just that curious and it'd probably help in convincing some of the more... zealous fans.

I can't speak for other fans though, only for myself. I was CONVINCED the family is crazy for saying it's not MJ on the songs and was ready to go rant at them on Twitter and tell them they're out of their minds...until I heard the song. I've listened to it over and over again...with headphones...without headphone...with the volume turned all the way up...with it turned all the way down...and I STILL can't hear MJ if you don't count maybe a few "aows" and "heehees" here and there.
I've been MJ's fan for 23 years by now. Through the Chandler scandal...through the whole thing with Sony...through the whole trial 2003-2005...and I'm still a huge fan now even after he is gone. Not just a fan of his music but of him as a person too. I LOVE Michael and NOTHING is more important to me than his legacy and that his name is being represented in the best possible way. NOTHING. Knowing Michael HIMSELF was a perfectionist, do YOU think he would have been HAPPY to hear a song in which he doesn't sound like himself?? HONESTLY??!! We don't know how he would have wanted the songs to sound because he is not here to tell us, but the ONE thing we can be ABSOLUTELY SURE of is that he would have NEVER been happy with a song that sounds "close enough" like him. Don't you think we OWE Michael that at least his VOICE gets preserved to the next generations the way it WAS??!! I mean, really...HOW do you want Michael to be remembered? If they put Navi on the videos next...will that be fine with some fans too?? After all that's kind of "close enough" as well...Think about it for a second...and let me ask you...WHO do you think are the ones trying to ruin MJ's legacy. Give it a REALLY good thought before you answer....
Yeah. Exactly!!   PLEASE!!!
And by accusing fans of being part of "a "strange" destructive campaign against the continuation of the musical legacy of Michael Jackson." You think that u are being constructive? I think your being delusional! Seriously, I can't believed u said that! I'll pray for you! lol

Okay...then let me change it to "the majority"...if you wanna nitpick...
So Teddy confirms Corey and Taryl WERE THERE.
And Teddy says that Corey was on Taryl's side (according to Corey more than him took his side) so from that I deduce that not EVERYBODY there thought this was Michael, as the statement from the estate tries to pass us the lie that EVERYBODY agreed on the matter
I read in this topic that all people mentioned in "Official Statement From The Estate Of Michael Jackson To The Fans" are lying or they are bla bla bla....Geez! Can't people who disagree just differ in opinion without being accused of outlandish conspiracy theories?
I won't be buying the album if it contains any suspected track.
Of the Cascio tracks:
- They all came out of no where.
- They all don't sound like Michael.
- There are no alternate takes.
- The family is against them.
Listen to his mother, his children, his brother... something ain't right!
No, the statement did not say that everyone in the room agreed. It simply named all of the people who were there who do believe it's definitely Michael.
This isnt on Michaeljackson.com becuase it isnt a statement from SONY
Its a statement from The Michael Jackson's Estate.
I guess SONY will have to make thier own statement

IMO that is outlandish conspiracy theory!
Are people really still questioning this,i mean okay maybe there was a tiny bit of doubt when the rumours came out on Monday but a little bit of rational thinking and you will come to thet conclusion that it is 100% Michael. Maybe the problem is that many fans can't think rationally, i mean many here still think june 25th was a conspiracy and not neglect.

Here's the problem. The Estate and $ony want this album to be more current stuff when the quality happens to be more older stuff. As a result, we end up with the Cascio crap.

I shot off another message to Sony:
"Now that the Estate of Michael Jackson has released their statement revealing the name of the vocal impersonator on Breaking News, would you please consider issuing an apology that this was promoted as a new "Michael Jackson" song? The track clearly features another singer on lead vocals for a large portion of the song. If we had known this from the outset, there would have been far less outcry. Many of the fans feel deceived and dubious of future tracks that may be released under the name Michael Jackson.
Additionally, many fans would really appreciate hearing the rough demo that the industry experts heard during their authenticity judging. I hope you consider making this available in some way.
Thank you."
I'll be honest and say that I'm shocked to see how some people responds to this statement.
one day we want to ask the people that Michael worked with what they think about it, the next day when we hear their opinions we suddenly chose to discredit them.
one day we ask Gaz for a statement from the estate, the minute he delivers what we want, we claim it's fake.
seriously people?
so what this statement tells us is actually that we were all correct - it's part Michael and it's not part Michael.
about 3T : I actually like them as a person but still I have some questions.
Yes they worked with Michael but the question is how much? We know that their album had 2-3 songs with Michael on them but how much time they spent in the studio with Michael? Honestly all the other people listed has spent more time working with Michael then 3T.
Plus some people accept what 3T claims to be the absolute undebatable truth but they fail to see that they don't actually provide any solid concrete proof either. They say that "they know their uncle" and that statement is no concrete than any other person's opinion.
About Rodney Jenkins = yes he has worked with Michael and voiced his opinion but is his opinion based on the actual raw vocals or the finished song streaming ? You know that makes a difference.
just to be clear that's still fraud. I know that there's a "sony can do what ever they want and get away with it" belief but that's not quite true. I'll give you the alternative scenario
- someone (such as 3T) sues Sony for fraud (putting fake vocals)
- they ask court to send the materials for independent examination (as sony's own examination could be biased and the judge would agree)
- judge chooses their own random forensic expert and get the results
- if the results do not match that would be fraud on both accounts and falsification of the documents.
If that's the case (that the vocals are fake and sony created the reports) the wise thing would be to take it court not twitter IMO.
Yes I think so too. There's no point in arguing about it IMO. It's just a personal decision now to whether buy the album or not.
The fact that they can't even get Stuart Brawley's name right in the message tells me how much "attention" they pay into DETAILS.....
I don't care how MANY times people tell me it's MJ...it won't change the FACT that MJ doesn't sound like MJ on "Breaking News". And as long as it doesn't sound like him obviously SOMETHING needs to be done. If everyone heard the DEMO and had no doubts it's MJ, then obviously something happened while Teddy Riley was in the studio. So if it IS Michael's vocals on the demo, it should not be that hard to go BACK to the studio and mix the song again (or do whatever you gotta do) to get it right. Or if you can't do that...then leave the song out. That simple. Like I said on Twitter, remember that Michael was completely unhappy with Thriller when he first heard it...but he went back to the studio and mixed it all again to get it right and came out with a masterpiece.
Michael was a PERFECTIONIST. His music is his legacy. Michael is not here anymore to tell anyone how he wants any of the songs to sound. But don't you all think that the ONE thing we can be SURE he would have wanted, would have been that the songs with his name on sound like HIM??!! That is the ONE thing we can be SURE of!! MJ would have never been fine with "oh it sounds close enough". You KNOW that!! Don't we own at least THAT to him?? I care about Michael and I care about his legacy and all I am asking for is that if it is MJ singing that song (like they are all so sure of) that they GO BACK TO THE STUDIO to GET IT RIGHT. If they have MJ's vocals on the demo, it shouldn't be that difficult to do. Instead of wasting time with forensic musicologists and what not...they should make an effort to GET IT RIGHT. And if it can't be done..then DON'T PUT THAT SONG ON THE ALBUM!!! Tha simple!! If we have to be TOLD it is Michael Jackson singing the song, obviously SOMETHING is wrong. Like someone said on Twitter..if you can't HEAR it's MJ on the song, the song DON'T belong on a Michael Jackson album!! Period!! I don't need a forensic musicologist to tell me it's MJ when I have EARS myself!! I mean, what's next? We get a video where the person on it looks like Navi...and theywill tell us "no that is really MJ"...
Can you ask him when did he hear it and which parts are Michael? I heard demos from Michael before and he sounds like himself.
This is my problem: There are orange juice products which the manufactures call orange juice. When you look at the label you see a lot of ingredients and they have a higher percentage than the orange in the bottle. I do not call these things orange juice, but orange flavored juice. Notice the difference, so I want a Michael Jackson song.
