'Official Michael Jackson Opus' (All Threads Merged)

Ahhhh... I don't like this drama, it's going too far and I don't understand why.
Anyway, this wait has given me time to think how I will open my Opus. I have this small bottle of French champagne for the ceremony. And then some good French fries too. Great mixture!! :D Then some MJ songs, Stranger in Moscow, Who is it and Billie Jean. Then I'll wash my hands, close the dooer of my room, wear my TWO gloves (I have those already, somewhere in my room) and enjoy it.

Well... at least that is what I dream today. What about you?

Hahahaha!! I think we could get online to toast with Coca Cola, champagne or water and review our Opuses. There are certain contributions waiting for us, you know ;)

Well I will probably cry :( when I see my name in that book if I’m alone, if not I will scream of happiness… :D Some of my friends told me to have a MJ party when it arrives they all want to come and see it … I just don’t want anyone to touch it maybe that sounds to silly. Maybe I have to tell them to stay 2m from the book and look from distance:lmao: :hysterical: … I hope I will find a nice place for it, right now I feel I have to wait to see how big it is first. I just saw that FedEx has changed the delivery time to January 11 but it says it’s already here why will it take 11 days then???
I’m in for the toast

OPUS Media Group have broken SIX continuously advertised qualities of "The Official Michael Jackson Opus" so far:

1) NO delivery in time for Christmas for most UK customers (only partially delivered)!

2) NO delivery in 2009(!!!) for customers in GERMANY, FRANCE and THE NETHERLANDS, although they explicitly stated that customers in these three countries would get their OPUS "the week commencing 28th December 2009"!

Customers in these countries will most likely get their book now in the first week of 2010.

Apart from this, most of the rest of the world will have to wait even longer!

3) NO translation of the book available, although they announced translations into 12 international languages!

Here's what they've stated originally:

Each Opus will be printed in English and, on request, a manuscript will be made available to each owner for download in their chosen language.

We will offer the following languages initially:

  • French
  • Italian
  • Spanish
  • Japanese
  • Mandarin (Chinese)
  • Hindi (Indian)
  • Russian
  • Hebrew
  • Arabic
  • Portuguese
  • Swahili (African)
  • German

4) NO digital version of the book available (be it via "secured" download or on a physical medium)!

Even this has been advertised on their site for a long while.

5) NO reality card included!
Now it has to be requested individually or will be available for downloading & printing in the future.

6) ONLY 1 glove included!

They quickly replaced the pictures and changed the text AFTER orders have been taken and stated it would be a fitting tribute to the King of Pop this way.
BUT the actual sense of including 2 gloves WITH EACH OPUS is to be able to flip through the outstandingly heavy book without polluting it.

Besides this, OPUS Media Group have also made these three claims which aren't true:

[...]had every word and picture checked by people who were involved personally with Michael for years.

--> There are so many easy to find bloopers like wrong dates.
This is the result of a rushed project.

80% of the photos were never seen before and having read what fans who have received their OPUS have to say most mention the uniqueness of the content.

--> Almost all pictures have been known to most fans. I would rather say they wanted to write the exact opposite (20% of the pictures are rare).

We will be adding Amazon and others but no one can undercut our minimum retail price.

--> Even Amazon offers the book now for a price far under the so-called "minimum retail price". Just take a look yourself.

Very disappointing. It would have been well worth it if they didn't rush it. I can't believe there are mistakes, that's just not good enough IMHO!

I thought everyone who purchased before 30th September

Pre-ordered (before Sep 30) books were promised to be delivered before Christmas for everyone, but for Opus' defence I have to add did they know the books would get in stuck at the customs and they would be holding them for several days? I don't think they did. Did they know that it would be snowing so much as it did and the snow would cause delay? I don't think they did. So in my opinion it's a bit ridiculous to keep moaning about the delayed deliverys when they have given, in my opinion a very good explanations.

My biggest issue with them is very poor customer service. I have no idea when I am going to get my book. They don't reply my emails, they don't even give aproximate dates (like they did with Europe and Australia). I think I could give them a call on the phone, but international calls are not cheap.

MMmm... well.... honestly, I do not agree with this. The books were made in China and from there, they were sent (or should have been sent) to different distribution hubs. I know the snow issues in the North, but that is not the case for us in the South. I live in Chile, we have a free trade agreement with China and our country is usually used by companies as the "starting point" for deliveries within South America (at least). If they sent all the books to USA to start delievering across North/Central/South America, then it is going to take months.

You can't put all the blame on the whether either, since the whole world is still turning! There have been major problems in the North, sure, but c'mon! I bought 2 books from Amazon UK on the 8th of December and I got the books 2 days ago. I am tired of paying "extra" to get all these "fast and secure deliveries" that are always late, so I just asked for my books to be sent by ordinary snail mail. And that was it! So if 2 books from the UK have already arrived to my without any single problem... I am sorry, but I have very good reasons to wonder if Opus HAS all the books ready.

And that is my last concern. Do they have all the books done already? Why are they taking so long? The whether is no longer a good reason for me.

But even if all this whether issue were true, I still don't understand why we are not being given the same treatment. It's all about USA, UK, Australia, NZ, Germany, France. Don't they have our mails? Didn't we pay the same money our friends of those countries did?

If I had been told by early December by Opus "We are sorry, there are several issue and the delivery will be delayed a month", that would have been easier and clearer.

And guess what? I was so happy with Opus Customer service, that I sent them a thank you note, not only to my representative, but to his boss and their main manager. They were all quite happy.

Now, they don't even bother to answer my emails.

I got it!!!!!!!! YAY ME!!!!!!!

I wasn't too shocked at the size from all the pictures I'd seen, but man is is HEAVY!

The pages are beautiful and the case is such a good idea :)

I know it's frustrating waiting, but it'll be worth it. Trust me ;)

New FedEx tracking update: "Business closed - No delivery attempt"...

Makes me wonder why they had to rush to get it out there, when they could have waited (maybe until next year to put it together), preventing all these mistakes. Is it because they were already planning an Opus for This Is It, and now that Michael is gone, they really felt they had to make this ASAP? Perhaps this should be a lesson not to rush things.

I think my Opus is the most beautiful thing I've ever owned, but I think they should have took more time with it than they did, so all these problems didn't happen.

Yes, for sure. I agree. We were no way asking for an Opus, we could have waited and so could they.

And you are right! I had forgotten the translations!!!! Where are those??? And the digital download????

Geeezz.... we didn't ask for any of those, man, why would they offer things they could not have? Why?

hahahhaa!! Excelente!! Pronto would be great.
Big hugs, dear  Enjoy your Opus, please do!!!!!

I've got mine and I'm sorry to say it but I'm a littttttllle tiny bit disappointed. It is beautifully made and everything, I do love it.. BUT I have problems with:

1) The mistakes. There are some really silly mistakes. I think there is a pic of MJ it says its from 1993 - its more like the late 70s or early 80s - and its kinda obvious since Michael is black!
2) The content - I thought there would be a lot more info and writing.. like a proper collection of everything MJ. And its variety.. I thought there would be more variety of things included.
3) The 'rarity' - The big selling point for me was the rarity of what was to be included. I swear I've seen 99% of what is in there. I have rarer photos of MJ and his things - drawings, handwritten letters. For example in the art lover bit they have that 1 pic MJ drew of 'stop the war' which was plastered in every newspaper months ago. There are many many many drawings and paintings which Michael has done that have not been included, I wish they were :( .. well perhaps Opus had to own the pics they put in..?
4) No reality card.. although that is probably on its way..?

Anyway.. although one page seems to have a black printing smudge, the printing quality of the actual photos and the actual leather book is beautiful though.

I want to do my own book now :D, I bet all of us at MJJC could make a really good one!

Yeah... Only us fans could create a 100% accurate book about MJ, because we're the only ones who actually care enough...

Sad to say, but no editor in the word will ever make sufficient research, at least I highly doubt they'd bother.

I haven't seen my Opus yet, but after reading everyone's comments, there seems to be a lot less mistakes than I expected. As for the lack of true rarities, again I'm not suprised at all. We'd already seen most of the previews they showed before releasing the book. I only bought it for its quality and uniqueness, because I doubt we'll ever get a more beautiful collector's item, or at least not until his children are old enough to want to create something really comprehensive and properly documented about their Dad's life (then again, they might not).

I just don't trust any non-fan to do a good job on anything MJ, no matter how professional or "official" it's supposed to be.

I got my Opus on Christmas eve. No card and only one glove. Was very happy with it though and thought the quality was beautiful. Don't know where to put it!!!

I don't know where to put mine either. Right now it's on my bed. I have nowhere else to put it.

Me neither....
At times I feel like I should call them and ask them for my money and simply forget about this book, especially when I see the comments on the mistakes and the no-rarities included.

I don't know... it's been a lazy and slow beginning of 2010 for me.... anyway, I just hope when I recieve I'll be glad. Yes, that will be it. Yes :)

Okay, to make even less sense now, FedEx left a message on my phone this morning when I was still asleep. They said sorry for the delay, but my Opus is scheduled for delivery on Monday? I already got mine! I tried to ring FedEx but their office is closed until Monday, so looks like another one will be arriving at my door?!

...what is going on :O

take it, with the way they have treated us. We all deserve too. :)
At the same time, if they give u second one a fan could missing theirs. :(

Exactly. If they arrive at my house on Monday, I'll send them off with it! I wouldn't want to be lugging a load of Opuses around all day! I'm still shocked at the weight of it! :p

Ey, this has happened before!!
there is another friend here in the thread who actually received 2 Opus at the same time. She called Opus and they said it was ok for her to keep it. I hope this is the same with you, it would be priceless after all you have been through!! :D

But.... yes... I am concerned with this. Any double delivery might mean one of us not receiving their book. But it's not your fault at all!!! It's Opus'!!

Same here. I don't know if I still want it to be honest. I can't remember if I've paid for it when I ordered it or not. I can't find anything on it. Oh well, we'll see. Maybe we will love it once we have it!
