'Official Michael Jackson Opus' (All Threads Merged)

I'm gonna give them a call either tomorrow or next week about mine being damaged, will let you guys know what they say.

Oh no! That's terrible that some of you guys are getting your Opuses damaged :(

You paid enough for them, and you paid for couriered shipping and delivery. If you aren't happy, send it back! Mine was in mint condition so I guess I was just a lucky one, but seriously, don't accept anything less than perfection. You know Michael wouldn't! :)

but when i opened the box i thought i was about to start crying... there's a dent (a piece of leather seems to be scratched out) in the cover of my book... it's about 1,5 mm big and 0,5 mm deep... this may sound tiny to anyone else but being the graphic designer/printer that i am... i was very disapointed... oh and there was also a small black smudge on the red box that holds the book... and to finish of the complaining my glove has an ugly red stripe on it...

Exactly the same kinda production errors here. Although really small, there is a little hole in the leather. I also have some black inkt on the box. Also, on some pure black printed pages, it looks like the pages didn't dry properly before the book was set together. Again, nothing big and just at the top of the pages, but still. The errors are really small though, although it got my attention, my girlfriend thinks I'm crazy :)

It still is a beautiful product.. Now I can start moaning about the price and I can expect quality, etc, etc.. But really 130 euros for a book this size and of this still very decent quality? I don't know, but seems reasonable to me!

Still didn't had enough time to go through the entire book. I hope the rest is in mint condition.
Have fun y'all!

This what I received in email regards to glove and reality card.

*************

Dear customer,

We have received some calls from customers regarding the absence of the Opus Reality Card in the Opus and asking why there is only one glove included.

We took the decision to include just one white glove purely as a further tribute to Michael Jackson. The single white glove is an iconic and defining symbol of the man and his extraordinary career and we thought it only fitting to include just one glove with your Opus. We hope that this is an understandable decision.

Please be assured that the promised Opus Reality feature is very much part of the Opus offering, but we want to ensure that this is something only available to our customers. With that in mind, it has been decided that this should be offered through a secure and protected online forum. In the New Year, you will be provided with your own unique pass code to a secure area of the Opus web site. The Opus Reality trigger card will be available to download from the site and used to access footage that will be presented in a way that will hopefully provide you with a unique ‘Michael Jackson Experience’. The benefit of using this system is that it significantly reduces the possibility of non-Opus customers being able to access this experience.

We are committed to bringing you a selection of Opus Reality footage over the coming year with the first example ready for you before the end of January 2010.

We hope that this has helped to address these queries.

Have a great holiday.

Sincerely,

Opus Media Group.

I finnaly got my Opus :D
My boyfriend bought it for me for christmas.
He said to me dont look at the side of the box (because as you know it tells you what it is).
Anyway I was sitting there opened the first box then the second and then when I took that piece of card off and I saw the white paper with the opus sticker on it my face just dropped and I was,in away,in shock.
I couldnt believe he had bought it for me and I was so convinced I was never going to get it because it was way too expensive.
I love it so much.
I have never taken it out of the red box and I have never taken the red box out of the cardboard box.
I never look at it without the glove on and I dont let anyone touch it not even my boyfriend even though he bought it for me.
The only problem I have now is finding somewhere to put it because I have so much MJ stuff I havent got anywhere to for it.
My favourite chapter is the Art Lover section.
Its completly amazing.
One of my favourites has to be the one where Michael is Peter Pan.
Its perfect.

What box has people got because mine has a black sketch drawing with him on his toes and I have seen one oneline that has the SC/TII poes on it in gold.

Also I feel like Im missing something.
Ive heard about thereality cards but mine never came with them.

My Opus (Germany) has arrived with GLS not FedEx...:mello:

First it started with FedEx and then it has made a change over in Kelsterbach/Germany/FedEx to GLS.
I think my village is to small for FedEx.....

yea same here GLS took over somewhere along the road... i'm in belgium though...

i'm thinking about writing a mail/list of the production errors that hapened to my opus book too... if we have to send it back and wait 3 months for another book... that maybe also has these errors... i dunno if i'm willing to go through that again but on the other hand... i was expecting perfection!

i'm not home this weekend so 'll get back on this beginning next week... what are you going to do Fraenci?

None of us got the reality card with the book (even though they advertised it when we purchased the books). Read the post above yours for more information.

And btw; Awwh, you have a great boyfriend! Enjoy your Opus :D

Hello,

Did you get the tracking number?
I'm from Sofia and I still haven't got any FedEx email.

Yes, they send me a tracking number this Monday and yesterday i got it.
It's weird that you don't have it also. When did you order the book? Maybe you should make a call and not to send them e-mail because I send 3 or 4 but they never respond them.
I hope you get it soon! Fingers crossed!

I ordered it on Dec 4th. Could you give me any contact number? I ordered mine from Ticketmaster.co.uk...

Thanks in advance :)

Has anyone had an opus that's damaged? I got mine out and realised there's a scratch on the leather on the back that's a couple of inches long. I haven't done it as it's literally the first time I've taken it out of the red box thingy. Kinda pissed off...

Mine's damaged... 2 of the pages are stuck together. Ring Opus in London 020 7213 9587 (I spoke to Dipesh) & tell them what's happened. They've been very helpful to me. They said they've got more stock arriving into England on Monday of which one will be sent on to me once they've cleared customs, then they'll arrange collection of the damaged book.

ok we have an update !!!

opus has called me today and said i will have the opus no later than tuesday :) fingers crossed ppl !!!

They emailed me and said 8th Jan, today in 8th of Jan in NZ...no tracking number...fedex know nothing. Worst cust service ever really.

Aww, Rick, how sad :(
I still remember your first post (a month ago or something?) and still no book for you.
Same thing here.

Hmm I better examine mine a little more closley. I havent gone through all the pages to see if any are stuck together or what not. :mello:

I am worried about mine getting dusty, I have it out on display. I don't think the red box would be something to clean easily.

Thats what i am worried about too.. i have mine still in its box because i am really paranoid that this really expensive book is gonna get dusty! Plus finding a place to display it that will take the weight of it is almost impossible in my house :D lol!

My Opus arrived at 6 pm too. I´m so happy now. :wild:
But my Opus is damaged too. The red box is a little damaged. And some pages are stucking together (don´t know how to describe) I think the ink wasn´t dry...and when I try to seperate the pages, they got damaged. Other pages have little damages from the cut...when they cut the pages after the print in the right size....(oh my english isn´t very well...)

I´m a graphic designer too and this is one of my worst nighmares that can happen...:bugeyed

But I really have to say THE OPUS IS SO HUGE...and I´m glad that I have it before the weekend...so I will look the whole weekend through the Opus and enjoy it...:D

I think I will write Opus tomorrow or better on Monday (again) with a list about the damages, the second glove and the reality card. But since now I have written them 5 E-mails (asking about the Glove and Reality Card) without any response from them...

Oh no. You can't accept damage like that.

All of you who have a damaged book ring and see if they will replace it. I have noticed a couple marks on mine, but nothing too bad..yet.

CONGRATULATIONS to all of you whom Opuses found their way home!!!!!

So bad for all of those Opuses damaged :( you all deserve and must get perfect ones

I can hardly wait for next week for more Opus updates, let's see if latinamerica has news!!!

Great news!!!! That helps to keep the faith :D

Has anybody a Link to a Website where I can get something like a desk to put this heavy book on?
I only found this one
http://www.thomas-bauer-doebeln.de/buchdisplay.html
which is a bit to expensive and bit more deco like would be great.

Where or how do you place/present your treasure?

I'll maybe hire an ebanist to do something like this:

Not that big on the base but following the idea :)

Maybe something to hang it on the wall...

I think you are right. And I noticed that the red box is made by cheap material which can be get dirty very easily.

I just finishing a detailed view of my Opus and i discovered that the Opus have 3 cosmetic defects. And I don't know what should I do?
Here is what I'm talking about.

that's beautiful, but my concern is covering from dust, accidents and ungloved hands!!, leaving it in display without a glass or acrylic can be really dangerous in my case!!

wowowww... We are making progresses here :D
Now we are talking about the proper furniture for our Opus.
I am thinking about changing a some things at my bedroom to have the proper place for my treasure. When it arrives, that is.

I love this bookstand!!!
I would go and read my "MJ page of the day" before leaving home to leave with a smile on my face :)

OMG... this is simply SO bad!!!!
These are suppossed to be luxury books, collective, special, unique, one of a kind. That's why they are so expensive. Besides waiting so long now damages?? That's unacceptable. I would suggest doing as other friend here in the thread: contact Kraken and ask for your book to be replace with one in mint condition with NO single damage!

But... aaaaaaaaaggggggggggg!!!
This is a nightmare really, I can't believe it!!!
You deserve a new book in MINT condition.
Why are they doing this? What's the need? If they needed more time, they just had to let us know!! We woul have waited to have the quality we (and Michael!) were offered :(
