Well stated Dat. You are totally on mark with these comments. I will venture to also say that MJ also can see the potential in others to elevate their game and I think that we see some of that happening with this single. :clapping:

TSCM: I think you are right. About the total time of the song and the fact that MJ doesn't really sing on the bridge. Also, the beginning has a little skip in it and that got me thinking that the actual album cut may be longer with a longer intro and that intro begs for full orchestration. I think it may still be a work in progress. Lawd! Can u imagine how much better it can yet sound??? :yes:

timmy i'm rollin....but honestly, i think the songs akon's known for are not what most mj fans listen to. if they were to actually listen to his albums and not the singles he releases (to keep up w/ the status quo image) they'd be suprised at how profound he can be.

I think that it should be noted that Michael Jackson has collaborated with many artists over the years. I think it's also fair to say that he will continue to do so. Also, I think people are generally happy because they hear an original new vocal from MJ and that hasn't happened since Invincible. At this point, people want to hear -- something from him and anything will do. Further, I heard the song with just Akon's vocals on it and I liked it then. It's a good song to me. Now, I will admit that with MJ's vocals on it, it makes the difference as to whether I will spend my $$$$ on it.

The collaboration is not what people are celebrating here. It's hearing MJ again that is creating all of the excitement.

agreed mello...the song w/ just akon flows nicely but it's a lot smoother w/ mijac on it. and didn't mj re-record his parts in wbss and tgim? cuz i heard new hiccups on the joint w/ wil.i.am.

He may have, but honestly, I can't listen to the 2008 versions of those songs. It's like throwning mud on a Picasso! I tried, too. I did appreciate KWest's Billie Jean because he had sense enough not to change it. I dug the heavier bass vibe in it.

I do think that HMH may still be a work in progress. We just have to wait to see what happens.

whats up with those crazy people at universal motown? why isnt this song on itunes yet?

look at usher's single "love in this club". it was leaked to the internet, then quickly released to itunes and radio - and after 2 weeks it was number 1 on billboard 100.

why cant music executives get it right AT LEAST THIS TIME?

instead, it looks like universal motown is hiding and let the hype surrounding this song rather die than let the song flourish.

they're not getting it right this time again (like with the last leak, "escape".. it's a myth that michael was furious over the leak, it was just the record company behaving like dumbs instead of just releasing the single straight away)

as i already said, just like usher's "love in this club". u need to release a single right away (on itunes at least and radios) if it gets leaked... it's already been 2 days and nothing's done yet to make this song a killer-hit. wasted chances again and again, this song may as well dissappear behind some shelves.

yeah but it looks like it. according to the news the record company hasnt set any plans yet blablablabla.

instead doing the same like usher with love in this club they just hide the song and let people forget about it. that doesnt make sense to me at all.

what happened to universal motown, where are their brains. their "damage control" should've already taken actions to release this song immediately to itunes. it's good for them too, brings cash. and good for the artists, that will get money off it too. and in the end good for the people listening to radios or being able to download a high quality version from legal online music portals.

I'm still gonna pray though, not very good regarding business perspectives so I can't comment on that, but with the popularity of it by fans and non fans on the net, and that one Utube vid is the only evidence I need to prove that they will release this.

yeah there's no doubt that they will release it. question is: when.

release it tomorrow on itunes: everyone knows what happens if there's a banner at the main itunes download page displaying "akon ft. michael jackson - hold my hand" on a catchy picture of michael and akon.

release it somewhen in fall or december: hype is over, everyone knows the song already. or it won't even get released, since it's leaked already ages ago and physical release or itunes/radio doesn't make any sense anymore.

i just wish that this latest project that michael is involved wont get screwed up again, as was "i have this dream", "escape", "what more can i give", "from the bottom of my heart" and whatnot.

I am happy that MJ is doing what he loves to do instead of going through hell for no reason. I cannot understand why MJ fans make it seem like what MJ is doing is new? MJ has always worked with anyone that is hot. If MJ wants to be current, he "has to" work with people who are current. That is just how it is. I refuse to tell a grown ass man what to do with his career. I wouldn't want anyone to tell me what I should do with my career. **** I can understand if people do not Akon. That is fine. However, this thread about the song and anything relating to that. My love for MJ is unconditional. I will love him forever and I will never stop loving him if he does something that I disagree with. It is not my life, it is his. I think that maybe you need to asked your own questions to yourself.

How can ya'll say this song isn't emotional? Dang people. And Michael's vocal is damn near perfect. Akon's like, whatever, but Michael makes it sour. The way he imitates Akon's phrasing and tone is phenomenal in itself. But near the climax of the song, when Michael really brings in those add libs heavy, that just creates a great impact. Good music should be atomospheric, it should give you pure feeling, and this song gets close to that if it's not there already.

And dang this thread is too long.

I just played the song tonight for my good friend. He enjoys Michael Jackson's music but isnt a hardcore fan. He absolutely hates all modern hip-hop and rap and his style of music is mostly 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's. His fav band is The Beatles. Anyways...he has stated in the past how much he hates Akon. When I played him this song he was amazed and said to me:

"Travis that song has the potential to be a massive hit..Im serious...like I could emotionally connect with it and it sounds so radio friendly" He went on to say how good it was and that this song has changed his mind about Akon. This goes to show that this song has huge potential!! Michael and Akon both need to see this. Everybody who I have shown just love it and want to download it so bad. My friend Dave got it stuck in his head all night lol

well at least the record company is doing some actions which means that they dont completely "dont care" about this song.

namely removing all "hold my hand" uploads at youtube - which is a good thing actually, coz it's showing that they're now considering appropriate steps - not like on the 1st or 2nd day of the leak, where u still could find many uploads of this song on youtube.

so i really hope that this means that there's something already being worked on behind the scenes, hopefully a quick release as a lead-single.

I am becoming my mother. She used to think that all music made past 1960 was garbage. I thought that was so wrong...
