I think that the fact that it is MJ will be enough for mainstream audiences to take notice. In life or death, I don't believe he needs another big star to get people's attention, or promote his material.

I don't think the HMH 2007 will be any different from 2010. Akon will still be the own singing for the most part.

It has already been confirmed, by Akon, that it will be though -- its production has been updated and, more importantly, more MJ vocals have been added. Which makes sense. As a first single it should be a full duet, not just Akon featuring MJ.

this song was meant for akon's album but he dropped it because it was leaked. now its on mj's new album
mj recorded this for akon as a gift.

its pathetic lies, that mj left a note...just like he apparently designed the souvenir tickets.

How do you know HMH is the first single? I'm not a big fan of that song.

I also agree with HMH. Its a beatiful song and i get more radio vibes then Another Day. But both are really good songs :D

Hold my hand is great, but not really a song I would have choose for the first single ... still I'm looking forward to hearing the new version with more MJ vocals :)

Me neither. I won't go into all that 'at least it's Michael singing', but I was expecting a surprise/previously unheard single. Oh well...

The "Let's Get Hold My Hand To No.1" Thread

OK, so the new single has been officially announced as Hold My Hand and it will be unveiled on Monday morning.

That's the good news.

The bad news is there is not time for it to pick up momentum before going on sale on November 28th.
No radio stations are playing it yet and there is no music video in circulation. Typically MJ singles haven't been well supported by radio since the early 90s, so we need to give this a push!

So how can it perform well on the charts??

The answer is it can't unless we try our hardest to promote it and make sure radio give it good airplay for a minimum of 2 weeks.


What can we do?

Well we ALL need to plague our local and national radio stations with requests for this song starting NOW!

We need to contact them on the telephone, vie the website, via SMS, via email.

Plus we need to continue doing so for 2 weeks as a minimum!

That is the only way they'll know there is a demand for the song. At the moment there is no demand because the public don't know anything about it, so WE have to create the demand.



If a radio station does play it, then we ALL need to contact them with positive feedback!

I agree with you there. Carry On sounds to me from the snippet, to be a very good song. I hope someday we will get to hear the complete version :D

There is another uk Michael site that says hmh is available in the uk iTunes & michaeljackson.com/ uk on Sunday November 28th.I thought you could buy it this Sunday??

What annoys me is that it's track 1 on the album, which is a minor thing i know. We've had DSTYGE, WBSS, BAD, JAM, SCREAM, BOTDF, UNBREAKABLE and now, hold my hand................ notice it's not that got that explosive start that Michael loved, another day should be track one, opening the album with those strings, much better way to start.

The first single from the new Michael Jackson album, Akon collaboration Hold My Hand, will be unveiled to the world this Monday via michaeljackson.com.

The song is a duet with Akon recorded in 2007. The song leaked in an unfinished state in 2008 but Akon has recently completed the production. It will go to all media after its online debut and will then go on sale in the UK on Sunday November 28.

Akon says he was &#8220;devastated&#8221; by the leak. &#8220;The world was not ready to hear Hold My Hand when it leaked a couple years ago,&#8221; he says. &#8220;But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I&#8217;m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.&#8221;

Sony has also released the final tracklisting for Michael, the forthcoming album of new material from Jackson. It features 10 tracks, including contributions from 50 Cent and Lenny Kravitz.

I totally agree... Michael's albums should start with a bang.
Though it's fine with me this time, considering Michael was not involved with the tracklist for the first time. So in that way it's clear it's a posthumous album for me.
