The funny part of all this: if we believe that Invincible has sold 7 million, this is the same amount of All for You, according to estimates provided by UKMix.

The difference?

All for You had a whole marketing strategy, videos, tours, special (HBO), DVD, many appearances, magazine covers, interviews, support from radio, etc ...

Invincible only had one clip (two if you count Cry, which was not released in all countries) and was sabotaged by the label.

If we believe that Invincible has sold 7 million.

Did you forget that Invincible had 2 singles, a video, the 30th Anniversary Special (where YRMW premiered live), the Virgin Megastore album signing, the apperance at the VMAs, the benefit concert, American Bandstand, and the radio support because YRMW and Butterflies didn't get to #10 and #14 on the strength of single sales.

and how did I know you were going to post the obvious and say that All for You sold 7 million? :sigh:

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

MJ had support from radio as well. "Rock My World" was on heavy rotation but only peaked at #10.

what do you mean 'heavy rotation'? i head to search all over the place to hear the song, compared to other songs that got played twice every hour.

there's not a source in this thread that can't be edited. and if people decide they don't want to believe the record company, then, they just don't want to believe it. so far nobody in this thread has posted anything more believable than wikipedia. and people use wiki, when it's convenient, and avoid it, when they don't want to believe it. so five to seven million is just another claim.

Well a source from Mediatraffic and Huffington Post have been posted. Although Mediatraffic is more reliable than a news article.

Oooh just 2 singles! Compared to average 4/5 singles released from one album.

Ohh wow just 1 video which featured Michael for one whole album?? What great promotion!!

Appearences on award shows is standard and all that promotion was at the START of the album release.

TBH, i don't get what point you are trying to make? Are you saying that was enough promotion for Invincible to sell 20m+ copies like his previous albums had done?

Michael was allowed to have an album that sold around or under 10m copies. Certainly not a failure.

*sigh*

The RIAA doesn't track worldwide sales.

well, ceritfication would mean how many times platinum, so that would be a start. and, of course, other equal organizations around the world, like this, would be another start.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

You're so funny.

You should also start writing obvious things instead of what you create with your imagination.

i'm going to need more than a forum to prove that MJ didn't pass the ten million mark for Invincible. i need proof with a link from a reputable organization. not to mention, you didn't say what year...and..of course people keep buying the albums everyday, to this day. you just say an exact number, and have me believe it, just because you say it.
No sales can be proven, as I mentioned in other threads. Sales figures are just numbers put out there by record companies, it doesn't mean anything. The RIAA doesn't track sales, record companies feed them numbers. It's not required that they have to report sales to the RIAA. RCA claims Elvis Presley sold over a billion. It can't be proven that he did, nor can it be proven that he didn't. Neither can the sales of the infamous Eagles - Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 be proven either way. Depending on where you go Thriller either sold 42 million, 55 million, or 104 million. When Berry Gordy ran Motown, he didn't report sales or undercounted so he didn't have to pay acts royalties. I don't know why people argue over this or take it seriously. Just because some site says it is so, doesn't mean it's true. Like Adolph Hitler used to say, if you tell a lie often enough it becomes fact.

How many singles do you think All For You had? It's only had 3, and one of them only peaked at #28.

And it doesn't matter when the promo started. Point is, there was promo. Get over it.

I never said anything Ms. Straw Man Fallacy. You were OBVIOUSLY trying to make a parallel between the sales of each album, only to (due to natural bias) make it seem like Mike had no promo and Janet had all the promo in the world. I just LOVE how people fib by omission only to make themselves look silly at the end.

ok, that's a humble sensible explanation. i'll have to accept that. just like everybody else on here.

Lmao...Michael still shits on every Jackson when it comes to sales (amoung other things) which is REALLY what this thread (and the subsequent "debates") was trying to (dis) prove.

The End!

And here comes the biggest trouble maker of them all.....

Are you kidding?

I remember the fans who worked in shops saying that the stores were not getting much publicity material for the album. They had more material from Shakira than for Michael.

Sony refused to release the album during the 30th Anniversary Special, but I remember of commercials for the new album of Celine Dion in one of the reruns.

Let me repeat. are you kidding??
