Ummm thats really cool to sell 112 tickets per second...., but didnt Michael sell 1 million tickets? or at least the 750 000??? :timer:

Yeah... they say it was from 8 to 5 I think on Friday that they sold out. So how come it's the fastest?

I doubt it sold faster than mike's record fot tickets of "this is it"
nothing of it has been said of that down here.

Wasn't Michaels "111 per second"?? So U2's "UP TO 112 per second" smells a little bit like Bullsh!te to me! Just a little to close for comfort and believability (if that's a real word)

Also the figures just don't add up! 650,000 tickets sold in 8 hours equates to;

81,250 per hour
1,354 per minute
23 per second

This smacks of the Irish music press being a little jealous of our little old Mikey!! (lol)

I wonder if the site didn't crash whilst u2 tickets were on sale.

I thought I read Michael's was 111 per second too? But AEG reported that Michael sold 11 per second? Unless they had a typo mistake!

http://www.aeglive.com/news_detail.php?id=10192
The amazing news of Michael Jackson's return to the stage caused tickets to sell at an average rate of 40,000 an hour, over 650 tickets per minute - an astonishing 11 per second!

Michael sold

 Yes! And besides... their tickets (about 650,000?) are way less that MJ's million ticket show! I think the person who wrote that article was an overexcited U2 fan!

Michael Jackson 'Breaking Records': Certified '28' Times Platinum!By NjaiJoszor | Posted on 03/23/09 | Filed Under: R&B News, Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson may be touting the "This Is It" concert series over in London, but it certainly isn't over for the iconic star's explosive album "Thriller".

According to the RIAA, Jackson's "Thriller" has been certified 28X times Platinum in the United States alone !

"Thriller," released in 1982, now has the distinction of being one of the best selling albums in history with nearly 110 million copies sold worldwide.

While "Thriller" has been re-released in special editions, the most recent in 2008, the original album still continues to fly off shelves with singles like "Billie Jean," "Beat It" and "The Girl Is Mine".

In related news, Michael Jackson is said to be working on a new single for release this summer.

The King of Pop's anticipated "This Is It" concert series at London's O2 Arena kicks off in July.

Michael Jackson fans invited to vote for O2 setlist

michael-jackson-setlist.jpg

Fans who registered to buy Michael Jackson tickets have received a follow-up email inviting them to vote for their ideal setlist at his 50 O2 gigs by constructing a playlist on the official AEG site.
However, it’s a bit limited - while you can pick songs and move them around, there are no streams or even 30-second clips to listen to. Perhaps they’re assuming that fans can remember all the songs without a clip to help - or more realistically, perhaps they don’t want to pay the streaming licensing fees.
Also, bafflingly, there’s no quickfire option to say `All the old stuff, nothing after Bad, especially not Earth Song’. And no Jackson 5 tracks are included either, so you can’t request ABC or I Want You Back. Come on AEG, this needs a bit more lateral thinking…

AFTER almost a decade of relative inactivity, Michael Jackson has revved up his career in a big way by announcing plans to perform in not one, not 10, but 50 concerts in London.
More impressively, tickets for all of the shows were sold out in no time, proving that, for Jackson’s fans, absence does indeed make the heart grow fonder.
Plus, Jackson’s concert coup proves that, contrary to what some people think, there’s still a lot of snap and crackle to the Prince of Pop’s stellar persona and clout.
Jackson’s big comeback will go a long way in restoring him to a good position in the public’s view, which has turned downbeat due to some weird and even alarming developments in his private life. Obviously, there are enough people out there who decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, or to forgive and forget.
The $64,000 question now is: Will Jackson perform brilliantly after so many years of inactivity? When the first of his 50 shows finally unreels, we’ll know if he’s still the Prince of Pop – or Plop.
One sign that things are looking up is the fact that a recent finals round of “American Idol” made extensive use of Jackson’s impressive song catalogue. Now, if he could only add one or two new hits to the list this year, to further prove that his hit making days are far from over.

Oh wow.....like.....I am sooooooo impressed that it takes a whole group to beat one man!

Why do some people keep trying this tactic? I mean, it's just as silly as the Eagles thing that's been going on for the longest!

When you put a group up against one man, it means that one man is tremendously strong. Why don't they know this?!

Duhhhhh...

You go, Ticketmaster-crashin', Mike! High-five, baby boy!

Right on. The writer should go back to school and learn some simple maths!!!

Whenever MJ sets some world record, immediately there is some bullshit article with made up 'fact' appear. I hope the readers aren't as mathematically stupid as the writer.

It's funny how when MJ is proving all the haters wrong and is doing extremely well they try to denounce him by calling him the 'Prince of Pop' or say that his record has been broken when it really hasn't been lol.

They didn't beat MJ's record. MJ sold out 50 shows in less than 5 hours, crashed Ticketmaster and jammed phone lines. He dusted U2.

We can just look at the number of concerts and timeframe and see that MJ dusted them.

And for that writer's next trick...?

haha. I love research company! Just look at the this graph but I'm afraid some idiots don't understand simple graph. Let me go research u2 one. lol

Looks like "somebody" might be a little upset because MJ is continuing to received press attention because of his upcoming O2 concerts. LOL!

I mean, MJ had the press conference on March 5 and articles are STILL being written about his amazing feat.

U2 made their announcement and it dang near went unnoticed.

Welcome to the world of a black male. this is how it goes when blacks achieve greatness.

The writer will get an email from me. He needs to stop (and why does he have to call Michael j***o YEt he respects U2 and call them by their given name? idoit).

Always the old rivalry, who cares? When the U2 tickets went on sale, the servers crashed as well, because they weren't prepared for the demand. The two Irish shows in Croke Park were sold out in record time. Of course they didn't sell 1 million tickets because they had less shows on sale, while MJ had full 50 shows at the O2 on sale. U2 don't give so many concerts in Europe this year, not all their shows are on sale yet, the US shows are still to follow. And you cannot compare stadium concerts to the O2 arena, because a stadium is NEVER sold out. You can get tickets for every officially "sold out" stadium show you want. The only tickets left for U2 are a handful in Wembley, due to cancellations and because they are in the most expensive section. I love U2 and have tickets for their shows, I can tell you it wasn't any easier getting those than it was getting tickets for MJ. They are both big, but MJ has a huge comeback, while U2 have never gone away. Not fair to compare them.

Man, I hate this U2 hate on the MJ forums. Why? Because they are his biggest competition? Get over it, guys, the world is big enough for all of them.

Magic FM to promote Microsoft's Multimap service

LONDON - Bauer's Magic FM radio station is running a new on-air and online campaign for Multimap to raise awareness of the specialist UK mapping service.

285

Multimap: Microsoft service will be promoted on Magic FM

The Magic FM promotion, created and planned by UM London, runs until Friday, building up daily to the Drive Time show hosted by Angie Greaves. It will be supported throughout the day on air and through Magic FM's website.

A different London location or landmark will feature on air each day of the competition, with three clues broadcast through the day to help listeners identify what it is.

Listeners will be encouraged to look on the Microsoft-owned Multimap site and win prizes including Michael Jackson tickets, a K West weekend spa break and personal shopping experience, and a wine-tasting tour at Vinopolis.

Clues will be broadcast on Neil Fox's More Music Breakfast Show, Gary Vincent's Test of Time morning show and Paul Phear's Magic Afternoon show designed to drive listeners to search on Multimap. The winner will be revealed on Greaves' Drive Time afternoon show.

The radio activity builds on an online advertising campaign and consumer PR initiative, following the creation of a new consumer marketing team at Multimap, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2007.
