MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Exactly. But MJ and his fan appeal as well as his fans themselves have always been underestimated.

My man hadn't done an album in 8 years, and yet sold 750,000 concert tickets in 4 hours!!!!!!!!!!! And for a single location. Historical.

His Cirque tribute sells 200,000 tickets in 24 hours two years after his death!!!!!!!!!! Historical.

And then somebody puts together some lame butt stage show, calls it an official MJ tribute, and expects fans to fall all over themselves for tickets, and surprise, when they don't, it's some reflection on MJ's appeal instead of the arrogant, no nothing, disorganized, incompetent, money grubbing louts who put it together.

Excellent post.

Who is this LovelyLiissiie nutcase. She is literally harassing Paris non-stop. I really despair at the behaviour of many MJ fans. Grow up.

After watching some of these videos, I have to say that crowd is very stiff and strangely quiet. I mean, I was just looking at the 2001 MSG concert, which is probably the closest comparison to the his show, and there's no equal. Even before Michael perform for the second half the crowd was more alive than this. Everything just seems kind of force.

Well Ivy's quote from facebook alledges that the people at the front were paid £25.00 to scream.

yes

I wish Latoya didn't copy Michael's well known concert entrance.

The sound quality isn't that great.

Did she sing a medley?

Remember the time - TDCAU - Jam

I can hear MJ's voice at least on TDCAU. And she does the sunglasses entrance that MJ used to do.

First off, what's wrong with the mix? Is it that quality of the sound being recorded or did it sound like this live? The bass is far too loud to the point its making that static noise and it takes away from all the songs.

Second, was Toya even singing? I heard the background vocals more clearly to her and I only heard these whispers.

Thirdly, Toya is very dirty. She did the exact same thing during the Earth Song presentation last year. Namely, she gets other people to do the stuff that she should be doing. She barely danced and mostly just paced back and forward on stage while the background dancers did the real work. Real slick.

Lastly, Toya seems fairly good at doing the military drills, but looks like she's mentally unstable when she's trying to free form dance. Overall, very weak performance with a really bad mix. And once again, Toya, stop stealing from your brother's closest, especially the 80 outfits.

On another note, I saw the Jacksons brother's performance and they did pretty much the same thing as Toya. In Blame it on the Boogie it was more about JLS then the brothers. I actually forgot they were up there and I didn't hear their vocals at all. They also only dance in short bursts and then walked back and forward on stage. I didn't have high expectations, but I was expecting better from them.

Neyo, so-so Billie Jean. Wasn't bad, but could had been better, imo.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

IMO...some fans have it twisted! Stop comparing these children to MJ as if, they are the Second Coming of MJ. They may not have a lick of talent, then what? They sre children, and should be allowed to be just that, not assets, and certaintly not MJ fans fawning all over them, and acting like fans...please, get a grip. These children have done nothing to have "fans". Let them accomplish something on their OWN merits, then you give them praise. Don't boost these kids heads up into thinking they have it all or are STARS, because they may be in for a rude awakening if that does NOT come to pass.

Some FANS have also pretty much said, "F-what MJ said and thought about his kids, they're with their grandma, so it's alright". Don't pin your hopes and dreams, much less, obsession on these 3 young children.

JUST NO!! Well so this was why she came out retirement....the BIG performance. She NEEDS to go back into retirement,,,that was terrible.
I agree....she atleast could of been original. I mean jeez after all this whole flop tribute was started by her, I would think that she could do her OWN thing and NOT try and copy Michael. Well atleast she KNOWS she could NEVER do it better than him...and THAT is why she probably felt the need to copy him.

I know. I can't understand some people.

Its cruel to pick on a sweet innocent 9 yr old boy just cuz he was crying & seemed shy on stage, my god what pathetic morons the media ppl have become.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I hope people don't pick on Blanket the most because he is so much like Michael. Leave him alone. Prince and Paris seem comfortable and confident being around many people. Blanket does not appear that way and that is okay. He doesn't need to be on stage anyway. I hope the three of them remain close and help each other. Michael would want them to stick together.

From Facebook - omitted parts that's not about concert

Michael Strongman

if I am remembering it correctly, these lines have been stated by Globallive on Twitter, Facebook and their promo:
“ …who have waited over two years for an event to Michael’s musical legacy…”
“ … once a millennium the … the stars align… for the fans… for the memories…”
Big stars would perform and honor Michael. I have to say that I have missed the first few minutes because I stood at gate 6, but I had to pick up my tickets at gate 3, and that’s a long walk…. but that’s my fault.
If I would honor somebody when he was dead I would show pictures of the guy, tell anecdotes, tell stuff about his live, let everybody know the good things about him, wouldn’t you… sure you would…
Well, first The Black Eyed Peas cancelled, then Jennifer Hudson cancelled, no TV shows and no Facebook… what is going on is what I thought… But I went to Cardiff and expected a great show. I had bought the most expensive seats, so I had great seats
And the performances were really great, That Aquillera girl can sing, wauw… When Earthsong was being performed the whole crowd went wild.
BUT….

-The Jackons did 1 song, no more… no speech…
-Katerine Jackson… I did not see her…
-The children were on the stage for perhaps 2 minutes, 1 line each and Blanket clearly didn’t want to be there and spoke half a sentence…he did NOT cry or semm to be upset, just a bit mad…
- Latoya did 1 song and she told us that Michael was all about love… no more – oh and after she song the producer of the show told her twice (as the show was happening) that she wasn’t standing on the right mark and pushed her where she should stand.
- When 3T performed the sound guys didn’t know who song I guess because half the time the mike went of.
- when Diversity went on stage there were cleaners mobbing the floor for about 10 minutes, while diversity was waiting as were we…
- almost no pictures of Michael, no speeches about Michael, nothing about his carrier, about his charity’s, about his trial, his fatherhood, prices he won, speeches he held…. nothing nothing nothing.
-the talk host en hostess were systematically to late to give a comment through the show, so there were constantly silent moments between the songs.
- people around us (did I mention I had the most expensive tickets) left after an hour and a hour and a half…
- and I really think the did a number on the believers, because when the last song begin, Jamie Foxx said that this was a very special moment in the show, “this is the moment” he said, and halfway through that song, a spotlight went on and went to a place behind the stage, but nothing happened.
Then the song was over and so was the concert, no last words no encore, and the crowd left very quickly.
This was no tribute for Michael, he deserves much much much better.
The organizers of this event should be ashamed of themselves for all the broken promises the made the Michael Jackson fans.
I really don’t know what to think about the real reason of this concert, be it good or bad.

I was at the concert and it was truly awful! It started off really well with Ne-Yo covering Billie Jean but half of Michael's most famous songs weren't even covered. I mean Diversity had a great opportunity to carry out the famous thriller dance routine and didn't. I was quite far from the stage and saw absolutely nothing of both Diversity's and Leona Lewis's performances, there's a screen there people USE IT! As for his children I thought that his youngest was far too young to be exploited in such a way, I remember when his father died he wouldn't talk to the media in an interview with his brother and sister. LaToya Jackson was truly awful too! She wasn't even singing and she had to be showed where her mark was. I decided to leave after Christina's performance as I was appalled by the way the show sucked. I believe it would have been more successful if they'd done some of his more famous songs, hand fewer people in the line up and had held it in a bigger city such as London.

No. I don't think that they did . . . .

We don't know it yet. They played the May 10 recording. We don't know if there might be another one and / or if they'll play another recordings. It's just a media story as of now.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

This concert as just as awful if I thought it would be, but possibly worse. I am interested in seeing footage of the Jacksons performing, but the few clips I've seen of the other artists are atrocious. I remember on MaximumJackson (another fan forum) some people were trying to vouch for this show, its nice of people to have faith but this just looks terrible. LaToya cant perform or sing at all, forcing Blanket to go on stage sounds sad, the choice of artists is ridiculous, and the fact that they only sold 10 thousand tickets and had to give out tickets and pay people in the front to scream is hilarious. I would be more outraged if the "Michael" fiasco didnt happen in December but Im almost used to this kind of mistreatment of Michael's legacy. The Estate seems to be making sure it respects Michael from now on, but the family members that staged this should be ashamed.

If you wanted a real Michael Jackson tribute show have top notch performers or collaborators. Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, The Jacksons, Elton John, there are so many fantastic musicians out there that a true Michael tribute demands. This is a shady concert though so it makes sense why they wouldnt participate.

I wish it was illegal for the media to do that. It's creepy, not to mention disgusting for a grown adult to pick on a young child. :(

After viewing most of the videos posted here, the performances felt very cringe worthy and awkward to watch. I guess this concert truly was a disaster. Surprise surprise. Next time the Jacksons should leave the tributes to the Estate. They don't know what they're doing.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Sadly that's what happens when you put MJ's kiddies on a live stage - media takes pot shots - they have no morals or even feelings. Prince and Paris seem mature enough to handle it but little Blanket is 9 years old, you'd think they would cut him a little slack. Sad world.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Went into melt down yesterday and couldn't comment, the trial, the 'tribute', the chldren all became too much, much too much.

So where do I start? Blanket, he clearly didn't want to be on stage... broke my heart. Earlier in the thread somebody mentioned the children having a vacation in Germany, you mean the one with Weisner and the interview with that woman who had spoken so badly of Michael in the past? yeah that's great.

LaToya, you are NOT Michael.

So the brothers are planning more 'tributes', all that tells me is that this was more about re-launching their own careers than any kind of tribute, and that they have learnt over the last two years that they still need Michael.

That is a vacation...more like torture to me!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Thanks for the Facebook updates. It's nice to hear from folks who were ACTUALLY in attendance.

One thing I have NOT heard about thus far is the CHARITY part of this so-called tribute.

If I recall correctly, Chris Hunt said that a representative from the Aids Project and the Prince's Trust would be their to collect the charity donations LIVE on stage.

Does anybody know if that actually took place? And if so, how much money was given to the charities.

This was supposed to be a charity event, but so far, I don't see anybody talking about the charity dollars which were supposed to be given away.
