MJ Forever Tribute/ MJJC Statement / Estate statement / Fan letter pg51/ GLE put on administration

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

So they've now sold about two thirds of the tickets available? I'm surprised. It's embarassing they're having to move people off the upper tier because they couldn't sell enough tickets to use it.

I'm sure the media will comment on the lack of sales when they review the concert, but hopefully they'll report it as a result of the boycott by the MJ fan base, rather than a sign that people outside the fan base don't give a monkeys about MJ anymore.

I think the BEP participation announcement accounts for about a third of those sales, especially since it was after the price reduction. Until that announcement, a large majority of the sections were still very much available.

Usher?

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Looks like B.E.P. got a big slap from the hand of common sense :smack: !!!!!

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

I honestly think that this was all a ploy from the beginning to boost ticket sales. The BEP were never meant to perform in the first place. They just lent their name to the campaign to help boost ticket sales do they can pull back at the last minute. This was calculated from the beginning. I won't be surprised to see others doing the same.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

The BEP was their biggest act and now they've lost them, this show is an utter farce and not fitting of a true Michael Jackson tribute concert. When I see the line up of artist for the Bill Clinton concert on the 15th of Oct. I just have to marvel, that is what MJ should've been getting.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Why did they pull out?

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

they didn't give a reason.
But I can't blame them for pulling out of this mess, hope their fans, the ones who bought tix, demand refunds and return the tickets.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

^^wow! They sold 50,000 tickets??? unbelievable. How many artists can sell 50,000 tickets in one city? This is not even a properly organized concert, but a tribute wrapped with controversies... I always thought this tribute concert may be cancelled due to poor demand. Guess i couldn't be more wrong. To me, this is yet another testament of how large and diversified michael's fanbase is.

lies. Lies. Lies. Lies. Lies. Lies. Lies. Lies.

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Anyone else wonder why the people boycotting aren't against Cirque De Soleil show? Didn't that take place on a day court hearings were taking place? Rather than our tribute on a weekend when no court proceedings take place?

Do you work for Global Live? I noticed that you said "our tribute."

Yes. I personally wonder about many things regarding the current reaction to this tribute. I did support the initial backlash, especially after KISS fiasco. However, I feel that now the reaction gets into "we don't support anythings that has something to do with the Jacksons", and I cannot support this.
I also wonder why the ticket prices (which were lowered) are constantly compared to TII which was a tour and not to MSG which was a one time event.

Just wanna clarify that I didn't make up the 50,000 figure. I got the figure from one of the earlier posts in this thread. I didn't verify it. I don't know if it's a lie or not. I don't want people to think I'm spreading lies here. Frankly, I don't really care about this tribute. I never planned to attend the event. However, for the fans who are going to Cardiff, I wish you a wonderful time.

I'm speaking for myself here....possibly, and I do mean possibly, if 'your tribute' as you stated had any class to it, had Michael Jackson at the forefront of the initial planning, had done the obvious research, involved the fan base, and most importantly, not appeared to be just a bunch of people who seemingly have no idea what they are doing, disrespecting the fan base and who seem to be in this for a quick buck, then there possibly would not have been such an outrage. The show being held during the trial was one aspect, the other aspects, which are so many, totally sank this thing for fans. Oh, and as for Cirque, tickets for their production went on sale back in 2010 long before any trial date was set, GLE on the other hand knew a trial was eminent and could've waited until after to plan and implement a PROPER TRIBUTE TO MJ! Where are the GALAXY OF STARS promised? oh yeah, they are all doing the Bill Clinton concert on Oct. 15th!

Michael Jackson was synonimous with CLASS, what GLE is presenting not even deserves a C. Total disrespect to MJ.

-cirque dates was announced over a year ago
-cirque is not MJ's family
- cirque did a high quality work

your tribute people
- announced the concert despite the other jackson's unhappiness about the date knowing the date of the trial
- had too high of prices - which they had twice reduced
- could not provide a high quality line up
- added people who called and still call mj a molester to their line up
- was not and still is not clear about the charity donation
- did not get permission of the estate, hence cannot use mj's pictures and such
- treated fans badly

selfishness? no . Reality..

thankyou. this question has been asked and answered numerous times. i quite obvious what the differences are.

However, I feel that now the reaction gets into "we don't support anythings that has something to do with the Jacksons", and I cannot support this.

Not wanting to support the Jacksons is a minority even miniscule view and certainly not reflective of the 35 collective MJ communities that gave SOLID reasons for not supporting this concert. The lack of support was and continues to be for those reasons cited. Global's changes came too little and too late and were all as self serving as this tribute.

I also wonder why the ticket prices (which were lowered) are constantly compared to TII which was a tour and not to MSG which was a one time event.

Because in each of those instances, you had Michael himself performing, and the price could be justified. TII is mentioned because it was his final concerts and you were getting to see HIM for the last time on stage. That opportunity compared to others just doing renditions of his songs and at a MUCH higher price needed major justification. Fact is if Global genuinely had the "galaxy" of star caliber it hyped, their prices could have been jusitifed. Since they didn't, you looked again at what they were offering, and ONE of Michael equalled all of its artists combined (especially those initially announced) and you would have gotten him for much less.

Isn't it ironic, people are complaining about MJ's friends not showing up to court (when it's obvious it's futile because very few seats are available to non family)...yet the family has 8 assigned seats. Some of these seats have been empty this week. And Taj, hasn't squeezed in a day for his "best friend".

We, the fans that we are for the Tribute.

I am one of the family haters....who will not support ANYTHING that has the Jacksons' name (excluding MJ's kids), and if you STILL cannot see the difference between the Cirque shows and this flop, maybe it's time to give up. Stick with what you understand....

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

There is a report this morning saying the Black Eyed Peas are just about to announce they are splitting up.
IF that report is true then that could explain why they've pulled out of the concert. The report said they're gutted because they're all massive MJ fans.Well, if that's the case why didn't they just all stick together for a few more days and then make the announcement?
All I can say is if the report is true, there must have been one heck of a bust up!

(Reuters) - A Michael Jackson tribute concert will go ahead this weekend in Wales despite squabbling among the late singer's siblings, a backlash from fans, a headline act withdrawing at late notice and tickets still unsold.Chris Hunt, head of Global Live Events which is staging the Saturday "Michael Forever" gig in Cardiff, admitted that preparations had been challenging, but blamed "misinformation" for some of the negative headlines.

"I've never been in a situation in my entire career like it where so many false rumors emerged as if from nowhere," Hunt told Reuters in a telephone interview.

He denied reports that the promoters had fallen out with Jackson's estate and said that any large family like that of the "King of Pop" was bound to have disagreements, particularly one that lived in the bright media glare.

"It's going to be a huge and spectacular event," Hunt said of the gig at the Millennium Stadium, where there will be room for over 60,000 people.

Taking part in the concert will be Jackson's brothers Marlon, Tito and Jackie and his sister La Toya, who will be performing live in public for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Also expected to be present are his mother Katherine, three children and several other close family members.

Brothers Jermaine and Randy, however, criticized the tribute because it coincided with the involuntary manslaughter trial in Los Angeles of Jackson's doctor. Janet Jackson has declined to take part citing the same reason.

The "Thriller" singer, one of the most successful yet troubled artists of the pop era, died in 2009 aged 50 while rehearsing for a series of comeback concerts.

Experts on the Jacksons said such rifts were common in the famous family, but would do nothing to enhance the standing of the tribute concert in the eyes of the public.

But Hunt played down their significance.

"If you can get any family of that size to agree about everything then it's a wonderful day. We've got nearly all the family here," he said.

"A couple of them decided they didn't want to do it and they cited a reason which, to my mind, and indeed to most of the rest of the family, has no logic to it whatever."

LINEUP HICCUPS, ANGRY FANS

Divisions in the family have not been the only hurdle for Hunt and his team.
In September, some fan websites protested over reports that ticket prices had been slashed in a 2-for-1 offer that did not apply to those already purchased.

A month earlier, a group of 35 fan clubs had lobbied for the concert to be canceled due to concerns ranging from confusion over charitable donations to its timing.

Hunt said a portion of the profits would go to two charities with links to Michael Jackson -- the AIDS Project Los Angeles and Prince's Trust -- as well as a trust fund for the singer's children.
"Not all the money goes there (to charity) because we have investors and they would like to get their money back, and if they get a little bit more than their money back they would be delighted," he explained.

"I don't think it's going to do beyond that."

Some commentators said that, despite contributions to charity, the Jackson family stood to benefit financially, a point some fans might find distasteful.

"This (concert) is something they could have done a little bit later when it (the trial) was over with or even before this started," Stacy Brown, a journalist and Michael Jackson biographer, told Reuters.

"This is not about charity. This is about lining the bank accounts of the Jackson family."
Hunt said he was "happy" with ticket sales, although he did not have precise numbers, and that they had picked up "hugely" in recent days.

Wednesday's announcement that the Black Eyed Peas were withdrawing had not dented demand for tickets, he added, although they were arguably the biggest act on the bill.
In addition to Jackson family members, the lineup includes Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Gladys Knight and Smokey Robinson, and among British stars appearing will be Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke, JLS and Diversity.

Beyonce will appear in a video performance.

"This is a Jackson family evening," Hunt said. "I think it's easy to underestimate this. I think it will be a hugely emotional evening. Mrs Jackson and the children will be very visible."

One of the reasons Taj wasn't in court this week was because yesterday he attended the parole hearing for the man who murdered his mother.

Omg there was a hearing for deedee's murder? so like parole hearing means like to see if he can leave jail ..or am i wording it wrong?

Re: Michael Forever Tribute/ MJJC Official Statement / Discussion / Estate statement / Fan letter @p

Yes. they have them every so often

The reports in the uk - mirror and nme, say BEp were given £1.5m (!) to appear. Globalive were obviously desperate and got money to burn. I guess they're banking on huge takeup of the $5 facebook streaming - lets see how 40m friends of mj on facebook translates into sales of the streaming.

For free if you want to see JLS perform mj songs, youtube for the uk x factor week when they did mj's the way you make me feel. It's not pretty.

One of the reasons Taj wasn't in court this week was because yesterday he attended the parole hearing for the man who murdered his mother.
what about the day before? What about Monday? Tuesday? Were there parole hearings as well? The entire week seats were empty, if he was dedicated in ''getting justice/doing justice'' he would've found some time to attend court in the homicide trial of his deceased uncle. He did not, seems like they only care about justice on Twitter, apart from that he's pretty much busy doing nothing. Oh I forgot he's preparing for his big 'comeback' on Saturday.
