Question relating to Best of Joy. In the final chorus' when MJ is ad-libbing, what is he saying? Cos to me, and most of my friends, it sounds like he is saying, "what you do to me boy" Now, is this MJ's "coming out" song, lol. Or is the word i'm hearing actually now, or something else.

Also, what is up with the lyrics at the begining of the 2nd verse of HT? cos it sounds like there is something extra in there.... Michael sings "westbound greyhound _______ to tinsel town" but the backing vocals only sing "westbound greyhound to tinsel town" can anyone hear the extra word, or is it just a case of MJ singing it faster than the backing vocals?

MJ was not gay, and it sounds to me like "What ya still waiting for?".
 
i KNOW he wasn't gay, i'm not stupid, that why i put lol after the statement =D but a lot of ppl disagree, including other fans. And i definitely doesn't sound like What ya still waiting for to me. Its def what ya do to me ____ its just the last word i can't make out properly.

I didn't mean it in a mean way, just a lot of things are said about Michael's sexuality and I believe nothing of it, the man was pure sex appeal to women.

...and for Hollywood, well "Westbound, greyhound, to tinsel town... to seek her movie star dreams".

Someone brought this up earlier in the Best of Joy thread. Since then I have listened to that part all over and over again with earphones and all and I honestly can't hear "what you do to me boy". First off, the last word isn't "boy" in my opinion, it's more like "bo" or "boaaaah" (or maybe "boar" when he sings it the first time, sounds like a slight "r" at the end) or something like that. And I definitely don't hear "to me" at all! I don't know where that idea is coming from because the "me" is just not there. It's definitely two short words with an "o", never an "e". If anything it sounds like "whacha do do boah" or "whacha to to boah". It may be just gibberish (personally I think so) since it wasn't a finished song. I think people are hearing things that are not there.

(If it's really "what you do to me boy" (which I don't think it is, but let's say) then it was probably meant to be sung by a duet partner or a female background vocalist or something.)

And I don't think Michael would sing "what you do to me boy" in such an intimate song after what he went through in 2005. What for? To give more ammunition to haters and the likes of Diane Dimond? Do we think he is that stupid? Besides he wasn't gay.

About Best of Joy, only thing else I can think of is... "What ya do it to me for? Our love is true".

You also know how Michael sometimes spouts out random things to actually make the song feel more emotional.

Also slowing down that bit it sounds like: "What ya do to me boahh? Our love is true".

For the life of me, I can't see how all of you hear the "me" in that line. It's just not there. Try to listen to it with earphones and try to concentrate on vowels and without the bias of trying to make it a meaningful sentence (because it may not be meaningful, just gibberish). There is no word with an "e" there. There are two words with an "o" - like "do do" or "do to" or "to to" and then it's the last word, the "boah", there's no "me" in between. (I personally think it's just gibberish and like ShineGloveShine said Michael just spouted random words those would fit in there rhythmically without thinking much about the meaning at this stage. We always should remember the song wasn't finished. He probably just wanted an ad-lib there and took note of it with random words/gibberish at this stage. Remember that "drunk" version of Billie Jean? It didn't make sense at times at all. It's just like that IMO. Later he would have worked out lyrics for this part which would make sense.)

I can't believe all of you hear "me" because I'm 1000% convinced it's just not there. I have listened to it like 100 times and I have NEVER heard the "me". I think people just hear that because they want to make sense of a sentence that probably doesn't really have any sense, just gibberish.

And I don't think it's "our love is true" either. It's more like "I can feel it's true", that's never "our love".

(And frankly, do you guys really think Michael would sing something like "What you do to me boy? Our love is true"? After 2005 and all? Did he want Dimond and co. all over on his heels again, or what?)

I thought it was finished though? Wasn't it was set to be on Thriller, but for legal reasons it wasn't? Michael did add the extra melody line and a few extra lyrics to it.....I think Eric Clapton and Greg Phillinganes did covers of Michael's 'version' as well..Unless someone can correct me if I'm wrong... :cheeky:

Ok, now I may be wrong...haha...You're probably right ;) He mumbles in that part though, I'm entirely sure he doesn't actually sing anything lol

It sounds more like `why'd you take it,why'd you fake it?`

It's something after why and it has a `d` in it.It's a simple `d` or `did`.That's what I hear...

As for the `dragging you down...` you were right.There is a breathing there before `dragging` and it sounded like `it's` :).
