Re: Killer thriller
I know what you meant, but I did not understand what it had to do with the current news.
To me it seems like a rehash of an old dispute, but whatever float your boat.
I will never forget MJ with the "Sony kills music" sign... and yet, I know for sure I will be more than willing to buy any of those "new" 10 records.... BR...DVD.... etc.
I feel like a nasty traitor... and I don't even know why
I guess Sony is going to do some more greatest hits albums or rereleases for some of the newer fans. I'm guessing MJ made a lot of fans after his death, so Sony is probably going to release some stuff geared towrds new fans also. I just hope there will be stuff for the hardcore fans like us. Such a big deal is exciting. Now I think the estate will have enough money to pay off any remaining debts from when MJ was alive. So does that in red not worry anyone but me? Do i see yet ANOTHER greatest hits album in the future? Am i misreading this?
I was the among the first to say we should keep positive about any new realeases. I thought this would take longer and certainly I expect Sony would be finally out. But I am but a fool. This world is crazy enough and I, after all, I know nothing.

You shouldn't feel bad. MJ was still making deals with Sony after what happened with Invincible. Thriller 25, The King of Pop album, and the Visionary Box Set to name a few. MJ put the past behind him, so we can too!I sooo feel ya! Michael's words are burned in my mind and over the years I've made it my goal to buy other brand electronics. Anything BUT Sony.
But this past year after buying many MJ downloads and TII, I've felt guilt many times.
If someone here has a recipe how to deal with all this, let us know.

I hate that we have to get this material in this manner, after all that has happened in the last 9 months, but I'm still happy to get new Michael. It's been too long! And $250 million!? Even in death, he can't be topped
I beleive he was a free agent. All the albums/sets he put out after his contract expired were one time deals I think. Was Michael still a free agent before he passed or was he still signed with Sony?
Mr. Jackson acquired ATV for $47.5 million in 1985. Sony in 1995 paid $150 million to become a 50% partner in the venture. Mr. Jackson's half is now valued at at least $1 billion.
My prayer :angel:is that Prince, Paris and Blanket, one day after they are adults, get some of this money.
Sounds like a good deal to me. We all know that Sony did Mike dirty, but this is a business. Leave that stuff in the past and move on to make new money. Branca and McClain are good at what they do, so I'm sure its a great deal.
I'm really hoping the rereleases are exciting with a bunch of unreleased content. Marvin Gaye has Some deluxe editions of his classic albums that are jampacked with incredible unreleased material, and great packaging. I hope they will take the time to give Mike's back catalogue the respect it deserves.
As far as 'new' albums, I hope they are very selective about what is released. I hope they don't add unnecessary contemporary production, or take demos and try to pass them *off as new songs. I'd really like to hear the songs in their raw form rather than attempts to clean them up.
There's a lot more I can say, but In all honesty, they should just give me a job with the estate. I would help give the fans what they want and deserve, all the while making money, covering costs and expanding Michael Jackson's legacy.
And if we don't get more concert DVDs I'm gonna explode
Sony just signed a deal giving the estate 200 million in gauranteed money. If they wanted MJ's kids "out on the street" they wouldn't be making such a deal. People need to stop living in the past. Yes, MJ had problems with Sony. That was long ago when Sony was under different management. Since that time, MJ had numerous dealings with Sony. The music industry is a business and busineses are in it to make money.they will. if it were up to Sony, MJ's kids would be out on the street. but MJ outsmarted sony, so his kids are just fine.

My humble opinion?
I want to be positive about it.
What's the use on concentrating on Sony making more/less money on this? Is that any news at all? That's what we have left now. They've got US on their hands, and by "they" I mean also the Estate, which is basically a company too. All they have to work to make more money and, let's face it: WE are willing to pay as long as it gives us some drops of MJ music after so many years waiting in the desert.
