he has said that he is careful what he puts in his body. i'd take a leap and say that means he doesn't really smoke. besides..it's a habit to have. we've seen britney smoke in public cus it's somn that cannot be controlled. so..if MJ smoked, we'd have seen it in public by now..and the paps surely woulda caught it..

naah, he's not even holding it properly, its about to slip out of his fingers. and didnt he said interviews that he didnt like drugs (ok, this might seen as some sort of drug) and that he didnt even liked the word '''high''.

It is clear that he is posing. However, he did drink at one point. LMP revealed this when she was promoting her so called "music" and it was revealed during the trial that MJ likes to get his drink on. But he does not smoke. I do not know if he ever smoke, but I know that smoking is not a habit of his.

BTW, the picture is cute and sexy. PUUURRRR!!

we all know that smoking and drinking (in excess) is not good for the health. MJ dont smoke cigarettes but I believe he drink socially.

That pic is obviously for a joke, chances of him smoking just before bursting out Wanna be startin somethin on stage is very slim, maybe he has tried it, we just don't know, there were also alot of rumours about other stuff that happened at Studio 54 and stuff

of course not. he hates smoking. i bet that cigarette was not even real. but even if it was it wasnt lit and its quite obvious that he was just posing for the pic.

and yeah, i believe he really isn't a smoker and not at all an abuser in alcohol. and lol u can tell if he's had something to drink because his pics will be all smiley and loopy and giggly. iz jokez. but proves that he doesn't do it for the sake of drinking, just socially.

If Michael smoked, I think there would be other pictures out there of it by now...after all of these years. No offense to Britney fans, but she used to claim to be the very clean type when it came to substances, etc., and she was even caught smoking. The celebrities that smoke generally have many candid pictures of them doing it. Being that this is the ONLY picture of Michael like this, with an unlit cigarette, etc., looks professional, etc. I truly don't believe that he smokes.

Pretty much doubt that he "smokes", but wouldn't rule out that he's maybe tried it in the past, be it maybe only once.

As for Whitney, smoking and what she smoked certainly took it's toll, don't know if her voice can or ever will be the same, unfortunately.
 
why is it such a problem for some if he DID smoke? geez, whats the bid deal he can do whatever he wants ..

It's not even about that. It's about the fact that he's a professional vocalist with a fuc*ing killer voice and smoking would be bad for it. Considering he sounds as good now as he ever has, the likelyhood that he smokes is slim to none. On top of which, he's always been a health nut.

Nah, he was just playin around, posin' for the camera. :lol: Someone even said maybe Frank gave him that (Frank smoked before), and they were joking around.

Other than that, I really doubt Michael was really smoking that. :) It's not even lit. He even saids he does not smoke, like someone said above, MJ is a health nut lol. So, chill guys. (But anyway, he looks so innocent holding that. :hysterical: )
 
Lots of good vocalists do/did smoke. Examples: Robin Thicke, Ray Charles, David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Pavarotti (who smoked cigars), Frank Sinatra, Robbie Williams, and the list goes on. :)

Anyways, this is obviously a pose, probably Frank's or one of the tour staff's cigarettes, and he's obviously just messing around. :lol:
 
Robin Thick? lol, okay. And Frank's voice was shot later in his career, Ray Charles voice was gruff as hell anyway, Jonny Cash had a pretty weak voice, and Pavarottie's voice was shot later on as well. Smoking on occassion won't hurt your voice, but being a smoker will. I mean, there's a difference between having a world class, delicate voice, and having a good, but not world class voice which most people won't be able to tell the difference on anyway, lol. Point being, I wouldn't think less of Michael if he smoked. I'd worry about him. But he doesn't because he respects his talent too much. Being a dancer too wouldn't exactly be welcoming of smoking. And don't mention all the dancers who smoke, lol. It's not good, bottom line and if one appreciates their talent, they probably won't do it.

^Of course their voices were shot lol. They got old. And yes, I am serious about Robin Thicke, he doesn't hide it. :)

My point was that good singers do and will smoke regardless of respect for their talent. Lots of singers, dancers, actors still do smoke. That's all I am saying.

I know Michael doesn't smoke, though. ;)
 
Well before their time a lot of their voices were shot is what I mean. They'll smoke, but if you want to maintain your voice, you won't. That's why it's obvious Michael doesn't. If he did, we would have heard the effects of it by now.

I was laughing about Thick because his voice ain't anything to glance at.

My point was just that smoking will have an obvious negative effect on your voice if you continue to do it.

I think he's just posing. Like someone else said, if he were really a smoker, there would be many pictures of him smoking by now.

It is very possible. MJ did say that when he saw "white stuff" at that club, they did not know what it was. So, it is safe to say that he maybe did not try the "white stuff".

She "messed up her voice" while smoking heorion (sp) or crack. Whitney still has her voice, but it is not the same. And you would not know what MJ would do regarding smoking. Oh, and you spelled her last name wrong: H-O-U-S-T-O-N.

So that means that he never smoked a cigarette or a joint or a pipe? All we know is that MJ said that he does not smoke. We do not know if he ever tried it. There are plenty of singers and vocalists out there who smoke and their voices sounds great. I do understand that smoking is not good for the vocals, but there are ways to excercise the voice. I mean, you do not even have to be a smoker and have your vocals affected. There are singers, like Lionel Richie and Jordan Sparks, and Fantasia who had to get vocal surgery for their voices and do not smoke.

Excellent point, Marni. A thinker as usual. I really do not understand some folk. He is a grown ass man who seen so many things and probably tried so many things. Just because he does not seem the type of person or whatever, does not mean that it did not happen. The man used to tell people that he did not drink. That was before or maybe during the Thriller eras and everyone believed it. Why? Because he fit what he was being portrayed as. That all ended when his ex-wife, LMP, put him out there and started saying to a magazine that MJ drinks, he cusses and has a certain sense of humor. When are some of you fans gonna start seeing through the b.s.? Yes, that pic, he does look like he is posing, but to assume that he never puff is hard to believe. That does not mean that he makes smoking or drinking a habit. Thank God he didn't, but he is human as well.
