"Michael", a biopic about Michael Jackson, is officially happening.

It's in a lot of places - people moaning we've not seen anything yet.
Fair point.

Like I said, MJ was all about letting it simmer. Calm before the storm. They will strike when the time is right.
I actually think the PR has been well judged so far. They're not allowing the online frenzy to bounce them into changing their timetable.

And rightly so. The estate have still yet to prove they can be trusted with his legacy
This is the vision of artists, not really that fogey Branca. When they just let creatives work, like Kenny Ortega and Cirque De Soleil, it's usually a decent project. We're not talking about them compiling songs with Sony execs by themselves

Does that mean the movie is all prepared and he has seen it? Or would he have seen bits or been present during some of the filming?
It could be an early cut, or his collective opinion from all his own experiences. As much as he loves his father, Prince still seems like a man of personal integrity...and I doubt he'd support the movie if the filmmakers screwed it up.

I'd be surprised if all the editing was completely done, tbh. That said, it's been nearly 5 months since they wrapped so ...🤷🏽‍♀️

He was on the set when they wrapped and I'm pretty sure I saw stuff mentioning him being on set on other dates, especially when people that Michael worked with were invited on to the set. I'd be surprised if they didn't show him (all 3 of the kids) early versions of the film. They seem to be pretty good at not leaking stuff.

The final edit is definitely not finished. In productions like this, every single day counts, as post-production can be more time-consuming than the actual filming on set. Plus, there are special effects, audio mixing, and soundtrack creation to consider and much more. I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear about reshoots, as it's a common practice when specific shots or even entire scenes are found to be missing during the editing process.

Post-production nearly always takes longer than the actual shoot. They wrapped at the end of May and, sure, 5 months seems like a long time to us bc we're outside the process but it's really not that long for the film world.

The best way to remember this kind of thing is "If the shooting for a film takes 6 months, everything else will take at least another year." Accepting this helps you relax, and keep your more extreme expectations at a healthy level.

This could explain why I have noticed that the actor in the movie has sometimes aged visually between shooting the movie and then appearing at the premiere or at an awards show to collect an award. Especially when the actor was a child... or an elderly person (within a year one can grow gray at a certain age!).
