Lady Gaga: "Drugs inspired me"

Well it turns out there is a tell-all book coming out on her..

"A new tell-all biography is claiming that Lady Gaga has more than a few skeletons in her closet, including an eating disorder that caused her to be hospitalized six times in 2009.
In Maureen Callahan's "Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga," former colleagues say the singer found it hard to deal with her new found celebrity status which gave way to insecurity, dangerous eating habits and bizarre behavior.

Gaga's former tour manger David Ciemny writes in the book that Gaga would often go on junk food only binges, then not literally eat for weeks at a time to fit into her costumes.
He alleges that the 24-year-old musical darling once lost 20 pounds between a first and final fitting.

"When I say she was sick, I mean physically and mentally," David says of Gaga's condition in the book, according to Daily Mail.
Talent scout Wendy Starland added, 'The pressure on her to lose weight was very high.'
The issue had allegedly been the subject of concern when she shot her music video for Paparazzi.
A witness from the shoot said: 'Producers had to shoot around her. They draped fabric over her thighs and shot her backside with a softer lens.'
David's wife Angela also weighs in on what she described as bizarre behaviour by Gaga. She claims that the 24-year-old would cuddle up next to her in bed before her performances and then beg for her to come back when she left.
'I would say, 'Gaga, I have a husband to go home to. I'll be in the room next door.
'She'd call and text me, 'I miss you Ange, can you come back?'
Angela said she would return to Gaga's room and they soon ended up spending lots of time together.
'We literally would do our make-up together every morning and get ready for bed together at night.'
The Bad Romance singer has admitted in the past to being insecure.

Through numerous interviews with friends and managers, Callahan paints the daring fashionista with the larger-than-life stage persona as nothing more than an inauthentic actress as inflated as her own 10-inch heels.
At one point in the book, it discusses how Gaga passed out three times while performing in Auckland, Australia in March 2010.
"I passed out about three times on stage that night but I got myself to the floor. I'd rather die on stage than walk off because I was going to pass out."
Gaga went on to later state to the London Times that her fainting was the result of autoimmune disease lupus (which she tested borderline positive for). These quote "fainting" spells or rather exhaustion incidents have plagued Gaga's career adding fuel to the rumors of bad dieting habits and a questionable drug problem.
Gaga admitted in the September issue of Vanity Fair that she did use cocaine in the past for "inspiration".
The book "Poker Face: The Rise and Rise of Lady Gaga" hits book shelves on September 14th. "

Maybe that's why she came out about the drug use. Trying to limit the damage.

You know deep down I actually feel kind of sorry for her.
She seems like a genuinly troubled person (Reminds me of Amy Whinehouse in a way)
I don't see the confident person her fans are talking about.
I see a very insecure, making poor choices kind of girl. The way she talks about her need of fame and dieying to be a legend doesn't seem just strong minded or something. (compared to the way Madonna used to talk about it you can see/hear the difference, or atleast I see a difference)
It actually sounds like she is trying to use it as a substitude for something she obviously has issues with. Her fans spin all this sort of stuff into "look at what she does for her fans! How she would die for us!" when in reality if you think about, is this all she has to live for? Empty, lonely fame?

Michael was notorious in his love for his fans but even he would never say dangerous things like that. (and all the other stuff she has been talking about really.)

That's why I wish people (media in perticular) would be more honest in their reporting on her. Should we be glorifying something like this? Not saying she needs to be hated on like Michael everyday but the constant (over the top) praise with an obvious bias view? I wouldn't be surprised if something would happen to her when no one seems to be looking out for her.

*Sidenote*: Obviously I don't know her personally but these are just my observations/thoughts.

Why are you all hating?

MJ loved her and wished Poker Face was his song (source - RedOne). She's bringing back the art of short films and is massively inspired by him. She writes bloody brilliant pop songs.

When did Michael say he wished Poker Face was his song? That sounds unlikely to me, although who knows...I know he did like her...I mean, she's got fantastic beats, but they really aren't anything brilliant or spectacular, or different...at least to me anyways...I respect your opinion, but 'bringing back the art of short films?'....none of her videos are short films at all....aside from Telephone, and WTF was that?

Perez Hilton is her BFF - surely this says everything?

Stop. She can do whatever the hell she wants. If she likes Gaga more than Michael, what does it mean to you?
well then as I stated earlier.....she should take her love for GAGA to a GAGA fan board....this here is a Michael Jackson fan board..and I for one dont want to hear how people love others more than Michael.....why even bother posting it here?

there is nothing wrong with saying it helped her creatively because chances are its true, since she was high.

However, i don't think she fully understands the physiological implications and she should have said that while she used and still uses cocaine on occasion it is a very risky and dangerous method for creativity. someone who uses cocaine regularly will change personalities because it changes your brain chemistry. People who use cocaine often, usually come to a point where they put their next fix as their top priority even above food, sleep, or sex. She definitely should have mentioned or at least hinted at that.

For the life of me I just can't understand why the American media kisses her behind so much.
The "media kisses her behind so much" because she serves its cultural Marxist agenda of breaking down the traditional conservative mores of the rapidly fading Old America. She is a giant cog of the media machine where hedonism pervades the music the young listen to, the movies they see, the books and magazines they read, and the television they watch (particularly MTV and prime-time).

I am sorry but, I love lady GaGa more than Michael... :( :( :(
You're entitled to your opinion that Lady Gaga is a more attractive man.

I can't wait for her to go away....
In that case, you'll need the the drugs to inspire an overdose.;D

1. I wouldn't believe that if Michael himself told me that.

2. Even if it's true, we don't have to adore everyone and everything Michael likes.

LOL! Michael definitely never said that. That's a hopeful statement dreamed up by a gaga/mj fan for sure.

Ohhh btw, MJ said that he would have loved to have been cast as Tom Collins in Rent so he could be just like my favourite actor, Jesse L Martin!!!!!!!

... see how easy it is to do? :)

I don't care about gaga as a person or as an artist, I don't listen to the radio, I don't read gossip websites and I rarely watch TV unless its a series on DVD... so thankfully I can avoid her for the most part, but what I do know is, is that not JUST her but many of the popskanks out and about are a ridiculously disgusting role model for young girls, teens and early adults. They want us to believe that getting around showing as much skin as possible is OK. They want us to believe that promiscuity is just fine (dont argue that lady gaga is abstinent, she might not have it, but she certainly promotes it), they sing about explicit things that are not fit for such a public and easily-attained market (children, tweens, young teens etc!) and unfortunately their images overshadow the music -- which is what it's SUPPOSED to be about.

And I think most people, unless you're a huge fan, would agree with this.

Personally, I listen to all kinds of music ... but my favourite artists are the kind who's talent alone is enough to carry them to the charts, and sell them thousands of albums world wide...

But hey, that's just me.

Most of my favorite artists/bands aren't even in the charts.

It's her opinion, she's entitled to it. And if you don't want to hear it, don't read it. MJ fans these days... "i dont want to hear how people love others more than MJ"....controlling much? There's more to this life than Michael Jackson.

I would like to say...I like Duran Duran..but I am not on their site...I don"t like them that much.
So..let"t say I come to DD site and start telling people how I love and admire Michael more than DD. Why would I do that ?!
This is MJ Board. People here are VERY respectfull to orher artists but we love MJ THE MOST. And yes..maybe little sensitive, but in a good way. :)

I personally don't like anybody more than MJ but I'm not seeing how it's a requirement that he be your #1 favorite artist in order to be a member here. Even by the insane standards of fangirlishness afoot on MJJC I would say that's pushing it too far.

All the same, I would probably giggle at someone who said they love Lady GaGa more, but I have an inkling that that poster was just riling you guys up.

Woah, what the heck is with all this hate here? I don't see why some of you guys are hating on one user for liking one artist more than MJ. In my case, I personally like both MJ AND Lady Gaga. Does that make me any less of a fan? That's not to say I like them on equal terms no, I love MJ the most and it'll always be that way, but is it so wrong for one to say that they love Lady Gaga? I'm just a bit sad to see some people are so harsh to belittle one for simply stating their opinion (and if it was trolling, then you are falling for their trap lol).

I think people are allowed to like whoever they want to like obviously.
I see the point some people were trying to make though.
Personally I don't quite understand anyone liking someone like her more than MJ on this board but it's not my place to judge. If people feel that way they have every right too.

^Those last two sentences describe pretty much my reaction. That's why I didn't post anything to react to it initially. This thread was not meant to start a fight over what kind of fans are allowed to post on this board really.
Let's just move on from it.

Ok this might be off topic but I don't think we need another seperate thread for this but what do you guys think about the following article?

"Mom claims Lady Gaga copied sexy act of late Staten Island teen collaborator"

She's a real Fame Monster.

A still-grieving mom says her late daughter inspired Lady Gaga on her path to superstardom, and wants the "Poker Face" pop icon to give the tragic teen her due.

Yana Morgana is seeking the rights to release the dozen or so songs her daughter, Lina, recorded with Gaga -- then Stefani Germanotta -- before Lina committed suicide at age 19.

And she wants the "Paparazzi" princess to acknowledge it was Lina Morgana's dark, edgy style that helped create Lady Gaga.

"I'm doing this because I want to keep her spirit alive," Yana, 41, told The Post. "Lady Gaga is holding Lina's soul, and I want her soul to be free."

OUTRAGEOUS: Lady Gaga's dramatic, sexy stagecraft made her a superstar, but it may not be original.

Music producer Rob Fusari introduced the pair at his New Jersey studio in early 2007, in the hope Germanotta's songwriting and Morgana's singing would generate hits.

At the time, Lina was a songbird from Staten Island, whose Russian-immigrant parents would later separate. Germanotta was a privileged Manhattan girl trying to make it in the music world.

"Lina had a hard life because we emigrated from Russia. People would make fun of her because she was different, her mom was a single mom," said Yana, who claims Gaga even adopted the dark aspects of Lina's persona.

"Every other word she says is from Lina. She talks about having a dark and tragic life, but she had everything she wanted in the world. She went to [the same] high school as Nicky Hilton, her parents were rich. But Lina did have a tough life, and she often talked about her tragic life," Yana said.

What they had in common was a svengali -- Fusari.

A music industry-insider close to all three said, "When Rob originally brought Stefani into the recording studio to meet Lina, he introduced her as a songwriter who would potentially co-write songs for Morgana's first album."

Gaga helped write a few songs for Lina, who recorded them, said the tragic teen's ex-manager.

Later, Gaga and Lina recorded about a dozen songs together at Fusari's studio, the manager said; none was released commercially. Some, such as "Wunderland," nevertheless made it to YouTube and MySpace.

It was perhaps during these collaborations, Lina's mother believes, that her daughter's fashion style, performance techniques and dramatic stagecraft influenced Gaga.

To make her point, the mom produced pictures of Lina taken to promote her career, including a mock album cover shot.

In them, Lina strikes poses and wears bikinis, lingerie, outlandish wigs and thigh-high boots -- all later replicated in Gaga's racy publicity photos, the mom believes.

"Lina had that style. Gaga had a different style. She changed dramatically overnight," Yana said.

Within a year of their collaboration, Lina jumped to her death from the roof of a 10-story hotel on Staten Island. About a month after the October 2008 suicide, Germanotta became Lady Gaga, took the music industry by storm and spawned an army of fans she dubbed her "little monsters."

Tyler Schwab, Lina's ex-boyfriend, said he was stunned the first time he saw a Gaga video.

"It was the same style, the same look, the same music, the same voice, the same jaw line -- the way they expressed themselves," said Schwab. "And I was like, 'Is that Lina?' It was so, so shocking. It was like looking at a ghost."

Dennis Dennehy, a spokesman at Interscope Records, declined to comment for Gaga on Yana Morgana's assertions.

Fusari, through his business manager, Sandy Linzer, also declined comment.

"I'm not looking to file a lawsuit," Yana said. "I just want them to acknowledge Lina as an artist and release her music."

In March, Fusari made his own claims against Gaga, 24, filing a $30 million suit that claims he helped turn her into a superstar.

Industry insiders said Lina, too, could have been huge.

"She had a fantastic voice, a great tone and quality -- a little bit dark," said songwriter Deborah Ferrara, who co-wrote a song with Lina. "I think that she would have had a great career."

If this is true than that is quite low. She did seem to change overnight for some reason.

To be honest, it sounds more to me like the mom, still overwhelmed with grief, just wants her daughter's music to be published or something. As for Gaga suddenly changing, I don't understand that. She performed with Lady Starlight at Lollapalooza in 2007 as Lady Gaga. I wouldn't go as far as to say that the mother is just one of those money-grubbing type of people, as we obviously don't know how close her daughter was with Gaga. All we know is that they were friends to say the least. My intuition just tells me that she knows Gaga is famous and that if she was forced to release some of her daughter's music (not necessarily similar to Gaga's music), it would gain attention.

I guess your right. Timing is a bit off (Why didn't she step up sooner for example) and she does sound like she is still grieving. To be fair she was talking more image wise than music though. The music doesn't sound alike really.
She did change her whole image overnight though. She may have started as Lady Gaga in 2007 but before that she was an average looking girl behind her piano (which to me seemed more authentic than what she does now really). There's video of that around.
