Lady Gaga: "Drugs inspired me"

Its far from unheard of for drugs to help songwriting -_- The Beatles for instance.

I never said it was unheard of.....But, in the same token, it doesn't make it right....Don't get me wrong, I really could care less about 'how' she creates her music....But I just lose a bit of respect for those 'artists' who use drugs for creativity....yeah, let's just let the drugs create the music...:mello:

I know but she's just like The Beatles and others that have wrote some of their best stuff under the influence of drugs. Nothing wrong with it if you ask me, it just 'expands the mind'.

Ok, we'll just have to agree to disagree then :D

the debate spurs on on whether the beatles are a product of respect by the media, or actual good songwriters. to me, they only had three good songs. so, opinions vary.

There she goes being extra again. I like some of her music but I'm not really fond of lady gaag the srtist. She tries to hard to be different and it shows.

There's a difference between what she uses and The beatles did.
For instance they would use LSD which will make you hear and see things you normally wouldn't see. It will make you hallucinate (Hence some of their strange songs I guess ;) ) It will also make you experience emotions way stronger and very fast. As strange as it sounds I can kind of see how that could make you feel more creative.
(Eventhough I still think that people that can create amazing music without any of this should get way more respect)

Now she does cocaine. Which basically just makes you feel like you can't run out of energy. It makes you feel energetic. (and it decreases your appetite)
Doesn't sound like a creative drug to me at all really. So her saying it opened her creativity doesn't really make sense now that I think about it..

Bingo! She tries to hard to portray herself as something she's not. Her image is part of her act that she's trying to put on, it's not real. That alone, is why I don't respect her as an artist...there is such a falseness to her..I love artists who have a genuineness about them.

As GMS said earlier, she says/does things to get attention, even if they aren't true. Wouldn't surprise me this statement is part of her act she's playing.

Yes.... But not really is beautiful and positive. I think she could do it another way, without talking about drugs. She has a beautiful voice, but it exaggerates much the clothes, the performances, in the videos to attract attention and it becomes tiring. I wonder if fans can understand her videos. I never could understand them. I want to see where it goes... :fear:

Just wanted to say that it's sad what has become of an incredibly talented, charming young girl like Stefani.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM51qOpwcIM

Sad that she, as well as a host of other artists sell their souls to acquire humongous stardom. And nowadays, this is more obvious than probably ever before, from the videos, seething of occult symbolism, the song lyrics, performances and all that. This is what children are overexposed to. It's really sad that pseudo-artists (which they have become) like these have so many fans or listeners who enjoy their dirty music, buy their records, follow them on Twitter, sing their songs or emulate their behavioral patterns. Their songs are catchy as hell (pun or no pun intended), and I too have them on my mind on repeat very often, even if I hear one line or two.

It's just mind-boggling to read, for instance, YouTube comments out of curiosity that defend these so-called art manifestations, saying 'Oh, Y or Z are simply displaying their art, pushing the envelope, challenging the viewer' and so on. If swallowing sacred rosaries, cavorting in churches, wearing inverted drawn crosses down the genital area, showing up practically naked, wearing devil horns, promoting promiscuity, scatterbrainness and homosexuality in a gross, ostentatious manner and so on and so forth are actions worth justifying, and by so many, that is just sad. And even if they aren't by others, they're still not being criticized, save for a selected few, often viewed as a bunch of oversensitive crazies or fake puritans - which, in some cases, is true. But this doesn't matter. What matters is that we're grossly being fed darker and darker images and worlds and people who have done / would do anything to gain fame and fortune, thus serve their own gods, by defying our only One. And we're just displaying our passive-agressive, at times, total apathic reactions to things suchlike, that we're not even being lied to and fooled beautifully. It's so downright in our faces at times, and we're still blind to see it.

I fear the future, thus I prefer to not think of it. It's such a terrible, crying shame that there's no room, nor time for changes anymore.

Lady Gaga has catchy tunes....But to me, she's more of a joke...She's like a pseudo artist...

For the life of me I just can't understand why the American media kisses her behind so much. I really really don't.
It makes me sad actually because this is how real future legends don't get the chance to succeed anmore and we're stuck with the crap that they are feeding us imo.

Stories like the one I posted are swept under the rug for some reason when if it had been anyone else they would have publically called them all sorts of names.
Why the Bias? Why?

Has everyone lost their mind or something?
If people like her fine, that's their choice. But praise like this? Sorry can't make sense of it.

I am very sad to see how the new world is just promoting all this kind of stuff, these kind of messages, in music especially, but also in TV shows for young people, and some movies too.
I am very much concerned.

There are no moral or values any more.:( You can see it in the way young people is these days... and thats becoz the education and this kind of messages.

That´s how the kids these days are growing up.

I miss Michael Jackson so much anytime I see this :( :(

It bugs the shit out of me how Michael was never treated this well by the media.

Gaga is simply living under the shadow of Michael and Madonna, I really don't get the big deal about her.

It will pass and then the media will go right against her in a few years. Mark my words.

As a New Yorker I find this proclamation extremely annoying and irritating.

poor thing hahahah, she really needs attention.... what else will she say then hahahaha, she's a joke, commercial joke :)

If it was any coloured artist saying what she just said.........they'll probably be in jail by now!!!!!!!!!!!.........

...........at the very least they would be renounced by the media and public as trash!!!!!!

Why are you all hating?

MJ loved her and wished Poker Face was his song (source - RedOne). She's bringing back the art of short films and is massively inspired by him. She writes bloody brilliant pop songs.

Ok I'm not trying to start a fight so please dont take this the wrong way :)
You're obviously allowed to have your opinion and so am I (and others). You think she writes brilliant pop songs, I don't see what is supposed to be brilliant about them. Nothing wrong with that.

Also technicaly we don't know if Michael liked her. The only sources of that are as you said RedOne (Who is like her main producer/friend it seems) and one of MJ's choreographers (who also happened to be doing some choreography for her at the time). Not really impartial people to be spreading this stuff. In fact they would both gain from hyping her up imo.

What makes me think twice about that statement is that she is like the closest thing to what Madonna was doing. Michael had a clear opinion about Madonna, so why would he all of a sudden love someone who is taking the same route? Doesn't make sense to me.

I'm not saying it's impossible though :) Just that we didn't hear Michael himself make those statements and seeing who it came from just makes me doubt how true they are. That's just my opinion though.

You have every right to think differently (obviously you do).
I don't see how she is bringing back short films either. Just because they are over 3 minutes doesn't make them short films to me when most of the time it doesn't follow a storyline. But once again that's just how I see it. :)

Honestly I made this thread to discuss her statements, I didn't start this just so that we can all hate on her. It just so happens that apperiantly several people on this board have a strong opinion about her. (including me I guess)

Sorry for the long reply lol I'll stop talking now ..
