Michael Jackson News for July 5, 2008:

http://www.7days.ae/en/2008/07/06/why-is-everyone-against-michael-jackson-2.html

Why is everyone against Michael Jackson?

I was writing in to ask, why is everyone around the world anti-Michael Jackson? This man was FALSELY accused, because of this, he has lost all respect from everyone. People are forgetting what this person has done to us. His song Thriller, sold 51 million copies around the world and nobody even cares?! He worked with his brothers in the Jackson 5, and had the best songs ever - I Want You Back, ABC, I'll Be There and much more. Everyone is just saying "Oh his music is garbage and he loves little boys." I suggest that you people actually try listening to his music then comment on it. He is the King of Pop, and INNOCENT.

So I suggest that you learn your history and listen before you make comments.
I would also like to say, that radio stations never play my song requests for Michael Jackson or Jackson 5. They make up a lame excuse saying they don't have it, and play some other random songs. If they don't have Thriller, how did it sell 51 million copies? By magic?

Akon (featuring Michael Jackson): "Hold My Hand"

By John Lucas
This new Akon song leaked a few days ago, and the big deal is that it features a cameo by Michael Jackson. The song is expected to show up on both artists' forthcoming albums.

Billboard interviewed the song's writer, Claude Kelly, who was apparently shocked when he heard Jackson's vocal on it: "I wrote the song and gave it to Akon with the intention of it going to maybe Whitney Houston, but Akon said he wanted to cut it himself. I thought, 'It doesn't get any bigger than this.' A few months after, Akon plays the song for me and all of a sudden I hear Michael Jackson's voice. I was literally shaking by the time the song was over." Oddly, the same article says that the song "has since been pulled off the Internet". Apparently the folks at Billboard have never heard of Imeem.

Perhaps this gentle song signals a change of perspective for Akon. After all, it wasn't too long ago that he wanted to do a tad more than hold hands:

Unperturbed, Barrault is working hard to raise BT’s profile. The company is sponsoring the Montreux Jazz Festival, which starts this weekend. Not having read the Jules Verne novel "Journey To The Center Of The Earth," Fraser didn't have much background to draw from when he was first approached for this film from director Eric Brevig, a man best known for creating Disney 3-D theme park films such as "Michael Jackson's Captain EO."

The day's entertainment also included live music from local band The Staff, who entertained the audience with covers of classic 80s tunes such "Love Shack" by the B-52s and Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean."

But people who actually grew up in the '80s, the people who went out in public in legwarmers and Michael Jackson-inspired jackets, know there were dozens more iconic films spawned in that era.

They won't! If a 25 year old album re-release is STILL outpacing Usher and Mariah, then one can only imagine what new material will do. Michael's untouchable.

Has it ever been explained why MJ's albums aren't being recertified? What better press for Thriller's anniversary than saying the album has now surpassed The Eagles album.

What's even more amazing is that despite lack luster sales, Janet is in 10th place.

Which goes to show you that overall, record sales ani't what they used to be. Also, I think that Lil Wayne or whatever his name is supposedly sold a million records recently.

It may be more like a million units shipped.

Still what does it say that an album released 25 years ago is the second biggest selling CD in 2008?

It says that MJ STILL is IT.

STILL.

Ok. This makes more sense. I was wondering where Lil Wayne was...

It says a lot about the fact that after everything, MJ is still hot. Thank you for posting this info. :)

Yeah, in this day and age, what MJ and Janet were able to do in 2008 is REMARKABLE! F*ck what you heard!

Re: July 4-6, 2008 Update for July 5th on post 63

This is just amazing to me. I am looking at the US list and only a couple people sold more than 1 million. People just aren't buying music anymore. They are downloading specific songs that they like. But I do believe that Michael will end up in that 1 million or more list because of who he is and the great anticipation that usually preceeds his album releases. If Lil Wayne can sell 1 mil the first week, Michael will do even better. I mean didn't Invincible sell 2 mil in the first 4 weeks?

Re: July 4-6, 2008 Update for July 5th on post 63

I believe that, Soso, because titles you have listed there are the very ones I always see in the stores, namely at Walmart and Barnes and Noble. They also always have a white place holder for both Michael and Janet. You knows those white dividers that have their names on them. All artists don't have those, you know.

M instructs the recovering Bond, coming off an ordered three-month sabbatical, to target Dr. Julius Gorner, a pharmaceutical magnate and megalomaniac that the Brits suspect is involved in illegal drug trafficking. Gorner wears a single glove on his left hand, a la Michael Jackson, to hide a rare congenital deformity, main de singe, which is a monkey's paw, complete with simianlike hair extending above the wrist.

Matt loves to create new cocktails, so the couple set up a champagne kiss bar, where guests received a glass of champagne and added their choice of mixers. The rule was to toast and kiss your date before drinking the concoction. For laughs, Meredith and her father, A. Lee Osterman, performed a dance routine to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean."
