Anyway good for her.. She's a good one to be able to perform on a tour during the trial of the man that murdered her brother. I give her props for being able to set those kinds of things aside to concentrate on her career.

I cannot picture her in such small venues, just like I cannot picture MJ in that. Their shows r usually full of pyrotechnics & what not.

Well, the good thing is with less theatrics, she will be able to sing live.

So, it's a win-win for her fans

And you are right. There aren't many (if at all) big acts on the road right now. It usually picks up during summer

You seem uncultured and very uninformed. Rodeo Houston is a HUGE event in the US. It's almost equivalent to Woodstock.

Janet Jackson fans are getting ready to scream their hearts out as the singer prepares for her first ever concert in Taipei next month.

The five-time Grammy winning artist and actress will perform on Feb. 18 as part of her 35-city “Number Ones: Up Close and Personal” world tour, which begins in Singapore on Feb. 7.

She announced the selection of Taipei as one of the stops of her spring concert tour earlier on Jan. 3 on her Facebook page after an army of her Taiwanese fans lobbied fervently for the chance to see her in person.

Having sold more than 100 million records worldwide, the 44-year-old singer has been listed by the Recording Industry Association of America as the 11th-best-selling female artist of all time in the US.

Although her visit next month will be her first time in Taiwan, her brother Michael came to Taiwan twice — in 1993 and 1996.

Tickets for her concert at the TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall were almost completely sold out within minutes of going on sale on Jan. 8. The most expensive ticket was priced at NT$5,500.

To truly deliver an up close and personal concert as promised, Janet is offering a chance for 20 exemplary youths under 20 years of age — recommended by 20 friends — to have the chance to meet her during her stay in Taiwan, the concert organizers said.

What I wanna know is, where are Joe Jackson and Leonard Rowe and why aren't they trying to take over Janet's tour the way they did with Michael's?? Or did I miss that info as I'm not following Janet much?

Are they putting the same pressure on her to sign Rowe as her manager so they could "control" Live Nation and get a piece of the pie? Just curious.

Granted, she won't make nearly as much money as MJ would have, but still, she'll be making some cash here, so are they pestering her the way the did Mike?

That's what I would like to know. Why aren't the VULTURES trying to make money off of Janet and harrass her to include the brothers in her tour? The question is why doesn't SHE offer her brothers a spot on the tour?

Because Janet didn't make a name off her brothers' fame, so don't expect her to do it now. Her brothers are WELL AWARE Janet does not play that shit. They KNOW better than to bother her about money, being included in her career be it music, tours, movies, or TV, or trying to make money off of her. There's a reason why they've NEVER tried it with her. Janet don't play that. Unlike other members of her family, she knows how to tell them "no", and not being a push over.

The people that you mention are all STILL selling records and at the height of their careers. Janet is not. She has not been selling albums recently. Again, her "up close and personal" tour is a ploy because she didn't think that she could sell out large venues. Btw, her "ploy" is working.

I don't think it's about being a "push-over", because Michael wasn't a pushover, or else he would have allowed Joe to manipulate him into the family "reunioun" tours. The real reason is that the brothers knew that people would be more interested if Michael was attached to anything that they did. The brothers knew that anything with Michael would draw MUCH MORE attention than it would with Janet. Another thing is that the family doesn'tt EXPECT Janet to help with anything as they did Michael. They knew the goodness of his heart when it came to helping family. Even some of Janet's fans don't expect her to help or do anything with her family, yet, they would be expecting Michael to do so. It's sickening that Janet has never been EXPECTED to help her family, yet, Michael was expected to help them. It really has $.h.it to do with being a "push-over".

Janet's not expected to help them, because A) Janet's career isn't an extension of J5 like Mike's, B) Janet has always, "done her own thing" if you catch my drift, and C) they all know better than to try Janet with the foolishness. And last time I checked, Janet fronted the bill for the deposit on the burial, paid Donatella to dress the entire family in custom made Versace, contributed to the boat she and Mike bought for Joe in '89, and was rumored to be supporting Katherine and Jermaine (at some point). So save that.

This thread is not about her alleged lack of family support, and the brother's not jumping on her bandwagon with the tour, it's about Janet's tour. So let's keep it that way. ;)

guess u were living under a rock these past 30 years, in 1978 Michael Jackson's career may have been an extension of J5 not in 2009 no matter how hard you try to twist and turn facts.

Me too!!

About asking for money. I think it hasn't got much to do with either MJ's or Janet's character, I think Joe is just too macho to ask his daughter for financial support, while asking his son was ok in his weird world.

Good questions.. and why isn't Jermaine pressing her about a family reunion tour? Shouldn't he be trying to get in on her gig? yeah and since Leonard Rowe was trying to get Janet and the brothers to talk MJ into touring, why isn't Leonard hounding Janet to put her remaining living brothers on her tour?

Selling records does not equal touring period. once again what ploy doesn't make any sense so if you don't think people are going to see you , how is " this up close and personale" suppose to move tickets? people are buying tickets because they want to see the show period.

that's great for a theatre tour. I wonder if she will sing 'live'. I can't imagine her in a small theatre actually 'singing' without all the bells and whistles.

looks like her theatre tour is a success, well good for her, a theatre tour is the right option for her.
Theatre tours are more intimate, focus is on the singing, (although I don't think that's good for her) rather than performing, there's no crowds.
The perfect location for Janet Jackson to prove that she's still relevant. :)

^ another great move on her part: announcing a tour in the dead winter season. Not many artists tour around this time of year. Less competition.
