It is shocking that Janet's The Best album flopped so badly in the UK

compared to Thriller, and Bad, technically they were FLOPS (even though i enjoy everyone of them)

And if you take those same numbers and hypothetically put them in janet's column and then compare Janet to Mike you'd call Janet a FLOP. BYE BOO .

But where did I call Janet a flop in my previous post? Show me where I said that? What are some of you getting so worked up about? Bottom line is that none of Michael's albums have ever done as badly as "20 Y.O." or "Discipline". He has NEVER failed to go multi-platinum.

Besides it's ridiculous to compare Michael's mega sellers to "Invincible" and "History" (which still did very well, 20 million+ I believe). "Invincible" was released in a time when illegal DL was rampant. How much were albums selling in 2001 when Invincible was released anyway? Albums were not selling 25 or 30 million anymore, so yes 9-11 million that MJ sold was excellent.

ok Thriller 82---- 100 million. Thriller 25- 3 millions. if you compare michael to michael, i'd say it was a FLOP. And if you cared to do some research about Janet versus pulling stuff out your bottom you'd know Janet is an international star in her own right. bless your soul boo. you see I'm a fan equally of both janet and michael's so i speak with little more objectivity. You can't handle this!

Now that's just stupid and you know it.

comparing one MJ album to another is pathetic and irrelevant and does not denote a flop. when an album is platinum, it's not a flop. now look who is calling MJ flop. you are making comparisons when you said you were not.

You're just refusing to believe it. MJ wasn't happy with his Invincible sales and many deemed it a flop compared to his previous work.

I don't care who deemed what a flop. I stick to numbers and facts. Numbers don't lie. I know MJ wasn't happy with the numbers, but I wasn't even talking about Invincible anyway in that post. I was talking about Thriller 25.

And once again Trueiopian, please show me Janet's incredible interntional numbers. You said I was wrong, so lets see some proof.

bingo. Michael was not just another celebrity. He was Michael Jackson and he no sell 3 million not acceptable. He was royally pissed. you remember he cussed out sony about this "success"

no, you clearly like Janet better, because you have not called any Janet albums flops.

and..three platinum is not a flop...and, it's adding to a phenomenal album anyway. and it went to number 1 again, as all MJ albums have, or at least top 5. and MJ is still the biggest selling artist of all time.

Don't forget "Thriller 25" sold 3 million+ while MJ was alive and "Number One's" went multi-platinum and all this was when MJ was alive. Michael doesn't have these flops you speak of Charismatic.

Trueopian, I am not a Janet stan like you so forgive me if I don't know her interntaional numbers. I do know she's much bigger in America than worldwide though, but If you'd care to share what her worldwide sales are, then i'm willing to listen.

You want to get caddy?

It doesn't take much to see how popular Janet internationally in the 90's. Yes, not to the heights of MJ but she did hold her own. Oh! and she's still very popular in Japan. She has a whooping 22 #1's in JANpan. That's more than any other artist. :D

MJ told Carson Daly that he was humbled by the SUCCESS of number 1 Invincible. being a perfectionist doesn't change that. and Carson Daly was very impressed. and MJ closed down Times Square, and mtv on that day.

Invincible did not sell 3 million. What the heck are you talking about? It sold 9-11 million. "Thriller 25" is the one that sold 3 million+ and it wasn't even a new album. Who else could have done that but Michael? It's a 25 year old album with some remixed tracks and sold that much in under 3 years. Those are excellent albums for such an old album. No one else but Michael could have done that.

MJ didn't release as much material. and, fans paid to see him, there, just for a face to face. there is Michael mania in Japan.

Well, I brought it up since he want to talk about sales. The majority of Invincible sales came from outside of the states. The singles off Invincible did poorly as well. Hell! All for You was far more successful then Invincible though it didn't sell as much.

You're running by numbers yet you're failing to see an album can be just as successful or even more without selling 30-40 million copies.

Janet's 400,000 records sales (that went to number 1) are equivalent to michael's 3 million record sales. Janet has never sold 100 million records from a single album, michael has. And if you think illegal downloading has anything to do with michael's sales during invincible in 2001 then why not be so kind and considerate of Janet sales because surely illegal downloading has increased with the ever growing internet. But see you can't do that because you are about as "fair and balanced" as Fox News.

I was asking for a specific number, but whatever you say.

Anyway, good for Janet and all her number one's in Japan.

LMAO!!! YOU ALL ARE CRACKING ME UP IN THIS THREAD!!

continue... :)

This s**t will get locked soon lol, just watch. I usually don't even get into these debates, but I wont sit around and watch people bash MJ on his own fan site! I'm a big MJ stan and proud of it too :)

MJ- 10 albums
Janet- 10 albums

I'm sure there's more Janet mania over there

it's been fun but i have to get some sleep. now should i fall to sleep to Janet or michael. um, i wonder.

calling him a flop is not bashing??

bwahaha, then try comparing Design Of A Decade to The Best/Number Ones (w/e the new one is called). By your standards, comparing Janet to Janet, it's a flop. Your reasoning is flawed to say the least, and you can't even admit it. And why you gotta always capitalise Janet's name but never Michael's? :mello: You're obviously doing it deliberately. You may not be outright 'bashing' Michael, but you're throwing shade in your own way.

Fox News weren't the only ones deeming Invincible a flop.

Yes, the only single to do so.

Carson Daly of mtv said it wasn't a flop. and you didn't mention that one single, before. that's all it takes for it not to be a flop is one hit single. but, Butterflies was in the top 20.
