Influence: Michael Jackson vs. The Beatles VOTE!!!

why can't I see Eleanor Rigby here? I've listened to many Beetles songs but this one is my favorite by far! are there more songs like this?

Eleanor Rigby is truly haunting... here's one video of it, from the 1966 album Revolver. It was a radical departure for a rock band in its use of strings.

Norwegian Wood is another haunting ballad, from the 1965 Rubber Soul album. John is singing, and you can hear George beginning to introduce Eastern influence. This is the first time a sitar was used by a rock band.

Both of these are from their "middle period," where they're getting more experimental, sometimes darker, and have moved away from strictly light pop, though they enjoyed returning to it often. Instead of singing "I Want to Hold Your Hand," or "She Loves You Yeah Yeah Yeah," these touch on more mature themes.

Both songs continue to be covered tonight by young rock bands.

BTW, it's Beatles, not "Beetles" ! :)
