Formule 1

OMG!!! What a race! Should I say that I'm more than dissapointed...

*cries*Kimi, Kimi, Kimi... Everybody were saying that he wanted to overtake Sutil but I think he just tried to use the brakes and it didn't work... Poor Kimi, poor Adrian.

What a biiiig, I say HUGE mistake from Ferrari because of the tyres. It wasn't Kimi's fault, still he suffered from it!!!!!!!!!!

I hate that I always have to look Hamilton's family in parc ferme... The race is not about his family, come on!!!!! Sometimes other pilots have their family there but they don't show themselves so much.

Poor Heikki, it seems he hasn't got any luck at all!

Massa was ok so was Kubica. Well done guys!

What will come next, I wonder?!

OMG what a race indeed!
Ok to say good things first: I'm happy for Kubica and Massa, though Massa did a little mistake and let Kubica pass him.

And that was the good part.

Kimi lost his lead in Championship
Kovalainen really doesn't have any luck at all!
I'm so sorry for Sutil he was soo close to get first points to his team! But it really wasn't Kimi's fault either! I believe too that Kimi tried to brake but they didn't work!
I am also sorry for Kimi, because he's my fave driver ( :D ) and I hoped him a better success. (Bad start for Kimi also.)
Then I'm sorry for Ferrari, they still didn't manage to get a victory in Monaco after so long time.. :(

Pfff... what else... Oh yeah, I'm sorry for Rosberg. He was driving so good race! And then happends this crash, luckily which wasn't very bad.

So.. I guess I can't wait Canada's Grand Prix and I hope that things got back to normal there.

edit: I was surprised though that in interview after the race Kimi didn't seemed disappointed at all. He was smiling a little bit and really seemed pretty happy.. He was so cute. Lol. :D

Where have you seen it???

Btw, my first thoughts were after the race that I might be more dissapointed than Kimi.

I've heard that in a 2 minutes interview he said 3 times "I feel sorry for Adrian"

The Force India wants him to be banned!!!! Can you imagine???!!!! It was a race accident, nothing special. It's special, because those would have been the Force India team's first points. But those were amazing moves from Kimi to avoid the bigger crash!!! OMG! One left, one right, one left... amazing! At the qualifying David couldn't do anything, and it happened to David just at the same place.

I've read it at the autosport.com:

"Raikkonen appeared to brake earlier than normal in an attempt to be cautious, but may have run over a damp patch that pitched his Ferrari into a series of wild slides. "

Felipe Massa - 3rd: "A shame to have ended up third because of a series of events that did not go in our favour, which can easily happen in these conditions and on this track. At the start, I was very quick and the car was perfect, but then I made a mistake at the first corner, braking on the yellow line and I lost a place to Robert. But after just a few laps I was right behind him and I knew I could push harder.

"We decided to switch strategies thinking the rain was going to return, but this turned out to be the wrong choice. On full tanks and on a drying track, the standard rain tyres did not have the same grip as the ones my nearest rivals were using.

"On top of that, there was a radio blackout between the car and the pits for part of the race. Given everything that happened, these six points are still important in light of the championship: we have only got through the first third of the season and there is still a long way to go."

Kimi Raikkonen - 9th: "A very poor race for me, right from the off. There was a problem with a wheel before the start and we broke the rules, which meant I was given a drive-through penalty. During the race, my main problem was trying to get the tyres to work as well as possible. Then we decided to change the strategy as we expected it to rain again, but it didn't happen. Twice I had to change the nose after breaking the front wing.

"So, as you can see, a long run of things going wrong which explains the 0 points. I am sorry for Sutil, who I hit with just a few laps to go. I lost control of the car under braking coming out of the tunnel and I could do nothing to avoid him.

"It's a shame how things went today, as we had the potential to do well. It's true that I've lost the championship lead, but I always said the championship would be a very long one. Now we must prepare as well as possible for Canada where we will try to make up for this disappointment."

Stefano Domenicali: "Yesterday, after a great qualifying, it was easy for us to act like prophets foreseeing a possible lottery for today's race, given the weather forecast. We cannot deny we are disappointed with this definitely negative outcome, the result of a combination of errors on our part and bad luck. We got off on the wrong foot, with an infringement of the rules in preparing Kimi's car on the grid, minutes before the start, which resulted in a drive through penalty for the driver.

"Then we decided to switch our strategy, going for a one-stop race, on the basis that we expected the rain to return and this did not happen. With hindsight is it easy to say we should have made different choices, but the reality is that, at every level, we did not meet our usual high standards. After this long preamble, the overall picture at the end of the first third of the season is still a positive one.

"We have taken four wins and the same number of poles from six races and we are still solidly in the lead of the Constructors' classification, with Kimi and Felipe still in the hunt for the lead in the Drivers.' Now we must look ahead and get as well prepared as possible for the Canadian Grand Prix. Here we showed we were capable of fighting for the lead and we want to do the same in Montreal, another track that did not suit us so well last year."

Luca Baldisserri: "We are very disappointed with this result which is definitely below our level of expectation. We made mistakes which we have to look at to ensure we don't do the same again and we also made a few strategy choices, which all things considered turned out to be wrong even if it easy to be wise after the event. We must draw the right conclusions from this weekend, without colouring our judgement with emotion.

"We showed we were competitive on a track that traditionally has not suited us, but we did not work at our usual high standard. In less than a fortnight we will face a similar challenge in Montreal, where in 2007, we had problems. We really want to make up for today's disappointment."

REALLY?! That's really stupid, there's no one who should be banned.

I saw the interview from Finnish TV and unfortunately I can't post it because I should pay to get to see it.. :(
It's a stupid rule that Finnish news site has, there would be so much great F1 videos..

^^^is it mtv3?

Q. Did you misjudge your braking distance with Adrian?

KR: I don't think so. It was just a racing incident. I just locked the rear brakes on the bump and you cannot really slow the car after that. There was nowhere to go, and not enough space to try and avoid him.

Q. There was also the incident at the beginning of the race with your tyres. What happened there? Was it a late call?

KR: It wasn't a late call. We started to put the tyres on earlier than the others, but unfortunately they had some problems with the wheel nut on one of the rear wheels and they could not get the wheel nut on. By the time they got the new one on it was under three minutes, so from that moment on it started to go wrong. And after that, everything went wrong. It was a shame that we lost four points, because it can make a big difference, but these things happen.

Q. Why was your race pace so far off today?

KR: I just couldn't get the tyres working. After the safety cars, unfortunately we had the drive through and that made it difficult again. It just wasn't a very easy day.

Q. Do you feel sorry for Adrian about what happened?

KR: It is the same in my career. I would also like to have had the four points but as I said, he is not often going to be in that position to score a fourth place and for sure it was more painful for him than it was for me, and I am sorry for it. But for sure if I could have, I would have preferred not to hit him.

Q. Was this one of the worst races of your life?

KR: Well, I don't think it is the worst race. I did good races and others where I didn't finish one lap. So today, many things happened and it went wrong already in the first part – but unfortunate things happen. I made a mistake and we made a mistake together.

It is not what we wanted, but it is not the end of my life. I am not going to start crying and shouting. This is an early part of the season and so far the season has been pretty good, and at some point you are going to have bad times. But at least we had a little bit of gap to the others so it didn't hurt too much really – I am only a few points behind Lewis. It is the early season still and last year we were much further away.

Q. If you could say something to Adrian Sutil, what would you say?

KR: I said it already – I said I am sorry for him and his team because probably they are not going to be often in the position to score a fourth position. Plus it was in Monaco. So it was harder for him than for me, but it was a racing incident and I could not go anywhere. There wasn't much space and I could not slow down.

Q. Have you spoken to Adrian?

KR: No, I haven't seen him but when I see him I will say sorry. So probably a bit hard for him, but it is racing and you learn from it.

Edit: It's really disgusting what is going on with this incident! They start to bury Kimi.... Everyone's attacking him, it seems they think that's the only accident that happened in Formule 1. They forgot that more races were over for Kimi because of other people's mistakes than how many there are that he'd caused!!! The second: I think we could count on one hand.

I've read in KR forums that a lot of fans are really angry at the commentators. (me too) All of them called him a complete idiot!!! All of them thought he would have liked to overtake Sutil... but this was not the case!!!!!!!!! Niki Lauda went too far by saying: I don't know how much Kimi has drunk before the race??? ............... what???!!!!! Are you serious Mr. Lauda????!!!! You should go and ask for an apologize from Mr. Räikkönen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so angry!!!!!!!!!!!! Was he the only one who has made mistake during this race??????? Hamilton did one, but he was lucky enough, again! Nobody is talking about that!!!

Really? :mello:
Here in Finland the commentators didn't say anything like that, so I can't really join your anger lol, but I really can imagine how you feel, believe me..
They are always so unfair towards Kimi. Either he is a hero or a total zero for them.

Maybe because he's Finnish, so they don't say bad words. But now really is true what Kimi have said: In Formule 1 you can be from hero to zero in a minute!!! It's disgusting how they treated that situation. Everyone is a human, so is Kimi, so he can make mistakes and as he said: it would have been 4 points for him, so this accident culd hurt him too. But now everybody feels sorry for Adrian, and only for him. It was a mistake from Kimi, he admits it, but it could have been much worse!

It's better to get over it and let's focus on the Canadian Grand Prix. I don't think that circuit would fit to the Ferrari (last year they struggled there a bit) but they say that they improved the car, so let's hope the best.

It worries me that he can't get the tyres in the best heat during the qualifying and during the races. It happened to him last year and he finally managed to do the best after the American tour. I thought that won't be the issue this year, but I hope when they will come back to Europe he will do his best races like he did it last year.

I kind of understand why this is getting so much attention because it would have been firts points to Force India team and it's a shame it didn't happend, but like you said Kimi is only human being and does mistakes like all of us, so this whole "let's blame Kimi" thing is just ridiculous..
Again, like you said, people need to get focus on the next race and hope same success to Force India there!

A warning for Adrian Sutil

Adrian Sutil's misery continued even after he shed tears in the pits following his exit from the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday.

The young German was hailed by many as the hero of the famous street race, as he carried his usually uncompetitive Force India to fourth place in the closing stages.

He was, however, taken out by world champion and former championship leader Kimi Raikkonen, moving many paddock observers to surmise that his and technical boss Mike Gascoyne's post-race visit to the stewards' office was to complain about the Ferrari star's driving under braking for the harbour chicane.

"We have asked the stewards immediately to look at it," Gascoyne confirmed to the British broadcaster ITV.

Räikkonen apologised to Sutil in Ferrari's post-race document, but it was actually Sutil who was in trouble with the stewards.

The FIA representatives officially warned the Force India driver for overtaking three drivers under yellow flags on lap 13.

"The stewards warn the driver of car 20 as to his future behaviour," part of the stewards' statement issued at Monte Carlo read.

^^^In a way it brought smile on my face ... this whole thing... They went to the stewards to punish or ban Kimi and at the end it turned out that Sutil isn't immaculate... What goes around comes around. Force India management was just angry that's why they had asked for punishment but it's obvious that it was a racing accident.

I wonder after such accidents how many pilots asked for apologises for several times... Kimi is keep telling about it, nobody feels sorry for him that he lost his first place in the driver's championship. I'm glad he told: I'm not going to shout or cry... :) He's not that kind of person. He will come back stronger, he proved it last year.

Interview with Adrian Sutil (he's a very intelligent guy, you'll see.)

Q. Can you put into words your feeling on that? To be so close to such a great result..

Adrian Sutil: I am just disappointed. It is hurting so much. We did a great race and we made no mistakes. We did a perfect strategy, everything went well. We did fastest laptimes during the race, and the performance was great for this car. For Force India this was an absolute highlight over the past few years.

So it just ended very, very sadly. Everybody was close to crying because it is just such a bad situation. Kimi had problems and crashed into my rear and destroyed my race. All the work we did in the race was for nothing in the end.

Q. Did Kimi talk to you about what happened?

AS: He apologised, so he is a great sportsman. He is a very good driver and I have to accept it. It was not done on purpose and it can happen to everybody. I have to live with it and just go on to the next race.

Q. Was it just a racing accident?

AS: Yes, it was just a racing accident. Absolutely. It was not like he was braking too late and crashing into my car. He lost the car, the conditions were very tricky so we cannot say he made a mistake. He just lost the car.

Q. Did you realise that Kimi Raikkonen was closing in on you?

AS: On the braking, you are more concentrated to get the corner. The braking was difficult for everybody – the tyres were cold and the car felt quite oversteery on the braking. In the end, I saw suddenly a red mirror and it was too late. He crashed into me as I had no chance to go anywhere else.

^Yep, he's cool :)
He's just being honest saying that Kimi just lost the car and it was just a racing accident. Media should take his word.

Heikki on Kimi

One of your fans wants to know about your friendship with Kimi, your fellow Finn. You said Kimi is a good friend of yours, how do you get along with each other, knowing that he doesn't say very much? Is he another person in his free time, or is it you, your good mood and your intelligence that makes him talk?

[laughs] no, I don't think so, it's definitely not the second one. Kimi is chatty, he is a really nice guy. I think, people just get a "racing" Kimi very often, the one, who is focused on racing, who is not interested in anything else, and that is when Kimi is quiet, he talks to his engineers, he talks to his mechanics, I'm sure, you know, he's very determined and focused on his job, but when we are sometimes outside the tracks he is a very friendly, very nice guy, and one of the nicest drivers on the grid in my opinion, not only because he's Finnish, but because he's genuine guy, there is no bullshit with him, he's very straightforward. We do get on well, but we don't see each other very often, he's based in Switzerland, and I am at the moment in Oxford, UK, so we don't cross paths too often, but we call each other sometimes, and on the track there been some races like Montreal or Indianapolis when if we had a chance we spend a day doing something but anyway, he's very cool, and it's not that I'm so clever to make him talk [laughs]

He's cool!

Alain Prost on Massa and Kimi:

"Maybe Kimi is not show his best nowadays but Massa is awesome. After the first 2 dissapointing grand prix DNFs he scored 34 points. He's brilliant and fast. Though I think Kimi is more stabile and it seems he's thinking about the world championship as well. That isn't a surprise for me. Kimi is the reigning world champion, Massa would like to be one so that the Finn don't wanna risk for a tenth of a second in this stage of the world championship. In my opinion since last year Massa has been one of the probable winners, is fast and perform more consistently."

I think he's right! I just hope that the best is yet to come from Kimi as we saw last year!

But please do it quick Kimi, hurry up, because I'm nervous... I want you to be the world champion this year, too! :punk:

Something popped in my head while reading your sentence: " I still do believe one of the ferrari drivers will become world champion this year"

Some months ago you have said that Ferrari's number 1 driver is Kimi. Why you have changed your opinion? Because Massa is great, I have to admit. It looks like Kimi is struggling in the qualifying and it's too bad. Why is that???!!! But I'm honest - as always - and I want KIMI to be the world champion again!!! What will be Ferrari team's next step? When they score almost the same points? They will (or they do it now as well) steal points from each other. McLaren only has Hamilton... I try to believe that he will make mistakes again.. I hope... I don't wanna say bad things about him, because it wouldn't be nice but he can be world champion later. The whole career is in front of Hamilton.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOO KIMIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Boat, hotel, boat, hotel, track

A theory has been floated as to why world champion Kimi Räikkönen had such a poor Monaco grand prix last weekend.

After qualifying behind his teammate Felipe Massa for the fifth time so far in 2008, the former world championship leader made two driving errors and was not on the pace.

Keke Rosberg, the 1982 world champion who is now a broadcast commentator for German TV, speculates that his Finnish compatriot was distracted by his off-track activities at the Principality.

"His eternal back-and-forth between the ship and the hotel room seemed not to be without consequence," Rosberg, 59, suggested to the German magazine Sport Bild.

At Monaco last weekend, Räikkönen's managers David and Steve Robertson offered to customers a spot on a luxury boat, with the 5000 euro per-head fee guaranteeing several personal appearances by the famous Ferrari driver.

On the other side of town, however, was Räikkönen's hotel - 'Columbus', which is owned by his former McLaren teammate David Coulthard.

Sport Bild claims that throughout the weekend, Räikkönen, 28, was "constantly" buzzing between the boat and his hotel on a scooter.

Reportedly, Räikkönen got over his Monaco disappointment by taking in the Kiss concert in Helsinki this week.

That scooter looks great!!!! It even has the Nr. 1 on it!! It was really made for Kimi.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOO KIMIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first of all I'm an adimitting ferraristi!!!!!!! :hat_wave:lol never call me objective again!!!:hysterical:

second I'm still sure Kimi is the no.1 at ferrari but I think the only one who can really bring him in danger not to win the championship again is Massa... cuz he has the only car which can compete with Kimis. But all on all I don't think Massa will make it through the whole pressure in the end of the championship... there I see one of Kimis advantages, he's just the strongest in dealing with pressure and still performing like a champion.
While McLaren Mercedes is strong also they are not as strong by car as ferrari is. Team wise they can't ever compete with Ferrari. Also they just don't have a driver as complete as Kimi is in all abilities a driver needs in my opinion.

I know you are a fan of the team Ferrari, but still I think you think more objectively like me...

Thanks for your words! They really can calm me down. :)

Yeah, when it comes to remaining cool then Kimi is the nr. 1. :punk: He's the Iceman in the red (most competitive) car!

... and as a team: Ferrari is just amazing and unbelievable!!!

To speak about other F1 pilots...

What do you think about Nelsinho Piquet? Could he improve in Renault? Looks like he's struggling and one thing he needs the most is self-esteem. Poor guy. I really feel sorry for him.

Well, to have my word said in the "is Kimi 1st in Ferrari" thing I have to admit I have felt little nervous because of Massa have done so well in races, too.
It might get harmful to Ferrari if Kimi and Massa are constantly competing againsts each other and, like Kinga said, steal points from each other. After all I don't want Ferrari happend the same what happened to McLaren last year(and I think you don't either), when Alonso and Hamilton were competing with each other and were basically their worst "enemies"..

But as we saw in Monaco, Massa did some silly mistakes when he was on lead, and he has done lots of mistakes in the past too, while Kimi almost never does mistakes when he's on lead.
So on that point, Kimi would be stornger, because like you guys have said too, he doesn't take the pressure to himself too much.

I do still believe we have World Champion from Ferrari, and most likely it's Kimi. The season is only began and there are lots of races still to go.

But let's not forget that anything can happend, even if we as Ferrari -fans didn't like it.. Though that's something we don't have to think about right now :D

About Nelson Piquet Jr... Hmm.. I think he could have done a lot better with better car. Renault isn't the most strongest team at the moment, you now  Nowadays it depends so much of what kind of car are you driving..

p.s. Nice 1000th post, Kinga :cheeky:

^^^Nice post, Hanna!

I agree with you 100%!

It's too early to say anything, there are still 12 races to go. Anything can happen, but I hope Kimi will be stronger during the European Grand Prixs. I think McLaren should gain some race pace, it was easier for them in Monaco and maybe it'll be easier for them in Montreal. But we don't know what Ferrari's pace would have been in a dry race in Monte Carlo. They say they keep improving and the qualifying results showed it. But I have to admit I'm a bit frustrated because of Massa's great results... Let's see how these 3 will cope with the pressure. Massa is too emotional guy, Hamilton needs some experience, he's too young, so maybe Kimi, I hope he can make it again...

Some shocking/sad news (though I don't know weather it is the truth or not ):

I've read somewhere that he said the following at the Kiss concert's after party: 2009 will be my last year in F1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm happy that you think that way too :) I'm not alone with my thoughts :D

Yep.. I just today read from magazine that people who work and are close to Kimi wouldn't be surprised if he quits after 2009.
Also was said that Ferrari usually does contracts with drivers 1½ year before the season begins, so now would be the time do contract for 2009 and there is also rumours Alonso has signed for Ferrari to replace Kimi.

As much as I hope it's not true.. I don't know.. As Kimi's manager said: Only Kimi knows what will happend and we will have to wait until he makes his decision.
