Hanna: thanks for your answer. You are right, you have your heros for rally and for F1. :) And I'm also addicted to F1 but more to Kimi! I mean I've always liked F1, I had my fav drivers (Alain Prost and Mika) but... that crazy feeling is just for Kimi! :cheeky:

Because he's 3 in 1 :cheeky:: very very talented, extremely cute and sexy and handsome  and I just like his personality!!!:punk:

Michael Schumacher about Michael Jackson:

"Were you shaken by the death of Michael Jackson?"

"Yes, very much. I was a fan of his. We met at one of my last races in 2006 in Bahrain at Salman bin Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa's place.

"How did you find Jackson?"

"I was amazed how could somebody, who is such a giant on stage, be so insecure, shy and fearful in real life. That was probably because so many people took advantage of him."

"Did he know you?"

"He was a huge motorsports fan and we were talking about that. He wanted my autograph by any means, so of course he knew me. I got the news of his death at 3 in the morning by an SMS. I was playing poker with my friends and was just getting ready to go to bed."

^^^thanks for this! I've read it somewhere that Schumi likes Michael's music. It's quite funny though that Michael wanted Schumi's autograph. Can be that they exchanged their signature!!!

Schumacher latest to sign up for Virgin Galactic trip

Seven times Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher is the latest high-profile celebrity to have pre-booked a space flight with Virgin Galactic, Arabian Business can reveal.

The emergence of Schumacher as the latest big name sign-up to UK entrepreneur Richard Branson’s commercial spaceline company comes just a week after the 40-year-old F1 racer announced a stunning comeback to the sport, following Felipe Massa’s crash in the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying.

Will Whitehorn, president of the world’s first space tourism company, Virgin Galactic, said in an interview with Arabian Business that the 300 customers who had already booked their $200,000 flight into space was made up of a ‘long list’ of actors, politicians, famous sportsmen and scientists.

Whitehorn said former racing driver Niki Lauda, French designer Philippe Starck, X-Men film director Bryan Singer, physicist Stephen Hawking and US actress Victoria Principal were among those who had also signed up to the venture.

Last month Abu Dhabi's Aabar Investments bought a 32 percent stake in Virgin Galactic worth $280m, valuing the company at $900m.

“There is a long list of 300 hundred people, who come from all walks of life. Many are scientific entrepreneurs, some of them are from the financial services industry,” he said.

“We’ve got a couple of politicians but they don’t want their names released at the moment,” he added.

When asked whether former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair was among those who had booked, Whitehorn replied: “I’m not sure whether it’s something he wants to do or not. I haven’t asked him.”

Virgin Galactic aims to operate the first commercial flights to space by 2011. It has collected $40m in deposits from pre-paid customers.

Here's Kimi's (and there you can see the other pilots' questions and answers):

Kimi did extremely well!!!
icon2_laugh.gif
I thought he wouldn't care and would score only 40%...

The questions were quite easy (I mean for Kimi)!
icon2_biggrin.gif

IMO he should've known Grönholm's results and Jody Schekter's WDC in 1979, and his own result in the Formula Renault series.
icon2_laugh.gif
These 3 more correct answers would have put him on the first place.

And what about this fan fiction!?!

Here is how I see the race in Spa playing out:

Imagine Kimi qualifying like say 17th. Random grid position. Lets say the car is actually not any better than that, because Ferrari stopped developing and is now concentrating on the 2010 car.
But at the race start, the Kimi gear suddenly kicks in and he starts a glorious onslaught blowing past people left and right on the track.

Kimi is told to slow down by a scared Ferrari team on the radio. They think they are reading the data wrong. "But.. but, you cant go through Eau Rouge in 7th gear full throttle in the wet - and with KERS fully applied...!??"
Kimi doesnt react to the team radio. They think they hear him laughing but they cant be sure as it also sounds like machine code. He just goes faster. A 1200 fps high framerate camera catches an image by chance. It shows Ice forming around the edges of Kimis F60.
Some drivers just pull off to the side of the road and and chants: "Thats not possible. Its just not possible!"

He proceeds to lap the entire field twice. Drivers now start to go into the pits to park their cars just so they can stand and watch and marvel at Kimis drive. Kimi is on his own now on the track driving like a man posessed. Track marshalls have tied themselves down in fear of being sucked into the vortex created by Kimis speed. It seems that time itself slows down. All electronic equipment at the Spa circuit breaks down and there is fear of a rift in the time-space continuum. Animals are summoned by the vibrations of the earth created by Kimis awesomeness and starts to gather at the track alongside the spectators to witness this wonder of nature and raw force. The vibrations travel around the globe and the lost city of Atlantis is raised from the ocean floor.
Hamilton looks at the red blur going by and mumbles to himself "Kimi makes me want to be a better person". Some drivers are seen openly crying and saying they are scared. Webber utters - "Why do we even bother? He is not in the GPDA because he clearly isnt human!"

Stars and planets now start to drift apart in distant galaxies and the universe is audibly coming apart at the seams. Luckily Kimi then crosses the line at the last lap and slows down. There is no cheers. No airhorns. Kimi lifts his hands in victory - but the circuit is enveloped in silence. People are just gazing at him in stunned awe. All TV screens just shows white noise.
He does his Spa victory donut and pulls into parc ferme. One reporter dares to run up to him while the rest is just covering from afar. "Kimi! What.. I mean.. How.."
Kimi: "For sure the car felt good today. I was really focused on the race. I think so I could have gone a little faster but there was no need to risk it. Lets wait and see what happens at the next race."

The Scuderia measured the temperature of his car after the race. It was at absolute zero. Minus 273 degrees C. It had to be sealed off. It only started to heat up after Kimi had left the circuit. Tests are now being performed on the car by the US government.

Yes. I think I would like his race to go something like that.
Amazing, isn't it?:yes::punk:

Thanks for the pics again! They're so cute especially that one with the children..

Schumacher cancels F1 comeback

Michael Schumacher has had to cancel his Formula 1 comeback as a result of the neck injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash earlier this year. In a statement issued on his website, Schumacher said that he told the team last night he was not fit enough to race as a replacement for the injured Felipe Massa.
"Yesterday evening, I had to inform Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo and team principal Stefano Domenicali that unfortunately I'm not able to step in for Felipe," he said.
"I really tried everything to make that temporary comeback possible, however, much to my regret it didn't work out. Unfortunately we did not manage to get a grip on the pain in the neck which occurred after the private F1-day in Mugello, even if medically or therapeutically we tried everything possible."
Schumacher suffered a sizeable accident during a German superbike test at Cartagena in Spain on February 11 - which forced him to abandon entering motorcycle races. It had been hoped that the injuries he suffered in that crash would not impact on his F1 return, but medical examinations have indicated that problems remain.
"The consequences of the injuries caused by the bike-accident in February, fractures in the area of head and neck, unfortunately have turned out to be still too severe," added Schumacher.
"That is why my neck cannot stand the extreme stresses caused by Formula 1 yet. These are the clear results of the examinations we did on the course of the past two weeks and the final examination yesterday afternoon.
"As there were no improvements after the day in Mugello, I decided at short notice on Sunday to do that thorough examination already yesterday.
"I am disappointed to the core. I am awfully sorry for the guys of Ferrari and for all the fans which crossed fingers for me. I can only repeat that I tried everything that was within my power. All I can do now is to keep my fingers crossed for the whole team for the coming races."
Schumacher had been due to test an F2007 at Mugello in Italy from today, but there is now little reason for him to see through with that running.
It is not clear who Ferrari will now slot in as the replacement for the injured Felipe Massa, with the team having little more than one week to find a suitable driver.

Oh, well I wasn't that excited about it anyway. Sorry for the Schumi fans though.

http://www.tsn.ca/auto_racing/story/?id=287468

GENEVA -- Michael Schumacher has described cancelling his much-anticipated Formula One comeback as a "really sad moment."
He had wanted to help the Ferrari team by replacing its injured driver Felipe Massa but was unable to do so because of lingering pain from a motorcycle crash six months ago.
"It's a really sad moment, probably one of my toughest," Schumacher said. "I felt back alive and now I had to cancel all this."
The German, who retired at the end of the 2006 season after a 15-year career in which he won 91 races in 250 starts, said any talk of later returning to F1 was speculation.
"From a purely medical point of view, there are no reasons why that couldn't be the case. But it's certainly not a topic that I'm considering right now," he said.
Schumacher, visibly subdued sitting between his doctor Johannes Peil and manager Willi Weber, said the euphoria surrounding his possible return was "extreme, and so of course the disappointment is extreme, too."
Peil said it was a fracture at the base of Schumacher's skull that prevented the return, rather than the fractured vertebra and rib he also hurt in the bike crash earlier this year.
It was too early to say whether the injuries would heal enough to allow Schumacher to make a later comeback, Peil said.

From all this talk I get the picture that Schumi is, however, thinking about comeback.

Renault cleared for European Gp

Renault and Fernando Alonso have been cleared to compete in the European Grand Prix in Valencia after winning an appeal against a one-race ban. The French team were punished after allowing Fernando Alonso to leave the pit lane with a loose wheel, which then came off, at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
However, Alonso will now be able to race at his home grand prix this weekend after the ban was overturned.
Motorsport's governing body (FIA) will instead fine Renault £30,000.
Alonso's right front wheel came off and bounced across the track at the race four weeks ago, race stewards subsequently ruling that the team's pit crew knew the wheel was not properly secured and failed to tell the driver.
But Renault team manager Steve Nielsen had said he was confident the team's suspension would be lifted.
"I've been optimistic since we got the penalty. We feel it's unjust," he said.
The stewards said Renault's pit crew "knowingly released car number seven from the pit stop position without one of the retaining devices for the wheel-nuts being securely in position."
o.gif

They also determined that "being aware of this, Renault failed to take any action to prevent the car from leaving the pit lane... and failed to inform the driver of this problem or to advise him to take appropriate action given the circumstances, even though the driver contacted the team by radio believing he had a puncture."

However, Nielsen insisted his team did not realise there was a problem with Alonso's car.
"We admit we did some stuff wrong, but we don't think that the penalty fits the crime," added Nielsen.
To argue their case Renault used comparative footage from races where drivers breached safety rules - but either went unpunished, or were punished less severely.

Changes to qualifying in 2010 rules

The FIA's new sporting and technical regulations for the 2010 Formula 1 world championship, published today, feature changes to the qualifying procedure to accommodate the expected 26-car grid next year.
The hour-long session will still be split into three segments, but will now see the slowest eight dropped in the opening 20-minute Q1 session, and another eight in Q2 to allow for 10 drivers to contest the shoot-out over 10 minutes.
Moreover, in a move that will please fans, Q3 will now be run in low-fuel configuration with the regulations taking into account the re-fuelling ban for 2010.
Other significant points in the document, posted on the FIA's website, include a continuation of the current points system, as opposed to Bernie Ecclestone's previously mooted winner-takes-all medals scheme.
Each car's minimum weight has been raised to 620kg, to take into account the added weight of KERS - which will still be allowed under next year's regulations, despite FOTA's agreement not to use the system.
Tyre warmers will also be allowed, despite previous indications that they would be banned on cost-saving grounds.
The re-written regulations also no longer contain any reference to the proposals for a two-tier Formula 1, that was at the centre of the row between the sport's governing body and the Formula One Teams' Association prior to the signing of the tri-partite Concord Agreement last month.

Kovalainen told to raise his game

Heikki Kovalainen has been told that he needs to raise his game over the remainder of the season if he is to have any chance of keeping hold of his seat at McLaren in 2010.
AUTOSPORT understands that Kovalainen's option for next year with McLaren has now lapsed, although the team has not ruled out retaining the Finn. Team principal Martin Whitmarsh has made it clear however that Kovalainen needs to deliver more in the next few races than he has shown so far this season - and the Finn was informed of the situation during a factory visit on Wednesday.
"Heikki is doing, as a team player, a fantastic job in this team," Whitmarsh said in a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes 'Phone-In' media call. "On his own evaluation he has not raced as well as he would have liked and we would have liked him to this year.
"I was frankly just talking to him on the subject a few minutes before this call. He is working hard...
"A lot of us want to see Heikki get some good results this year, and that will ensure that he remains with us. That is certainly our wish. His goal going into Valencia this weekend is to win - and he is capable of winning the race this weekend.
"He has been a good qualifier, he has done some good qualifying times, and he is capable of qualifying well and winning this race. So that is what he is going to focus on, and I've just had that conversation with him. Then on Sunday evening he will start thinking about Spa, and that is what we want him to focus on - not all the speculation."
In a boost to Kovalainen's situation, McLaren is adamant it has not begun discussions with any other driver yet about a seat in 2010, despite fresh rumours linking Nico Rosberg with the outfit now that the German's previous likely destination BMW Sauber is out of F1.
"Speculation is normal," said Whitmarsh. "We are not commenting on it, but I can confirm that contrary to some of the speculation we are not in discussions with any other drivers outside this team at the moment."
And, denying any talk that McLaren was under pressure to take a German driver to appease engine partner Mercedes-Benz, Whitmarsh said: "In terms of nationality, obviously some nationalities from a marketing perspective are more convenient, but McLaren continues to have the strategy and policy that we will get the two best drivers in our cars every season, and that is what we will continue to do."

Ferrari Valencia Gp preview:

In Valencia Luca will meet another old friend of his: Kimi Raikkonen. “We’ve got an excellent relationship and I’m sure that we’ll work very well together as teammates. He’s got his character, but that’s nothing new; I feel very good when we’re together.”

Kimi Valencia preview:

I’ll have a new teammate at Valencia. Instead of Felipe – and I want to wish him all the best for a speedy recovery again – there will be Luca Badoer. He has been the official Scuderia test driver for many years, and I’m glad that he finally got the chance to race a Ferrari. I really wish him good luck and I’m sure that we’ll work well together.

Sounds good that the 2 likes each other, don't you think? I've always felt that Kimi likes Luca and vice versa. :D I think Kimi likes him more than Felipe.

It's interesting to see how Badoer survives from the races.. the last time he drove F1 was very long time ago, wasn't it?

Yes, 10 years ago, in 1999. But he drove 150,000 kms in an F1 car since then.

^ Ooh how cool!!! His hair is huge

I have to say my history teacher reminds me of Kimi :D He doesn't actually look like him but there's something that makes me think of Kimi when I'm on his class.. lol.

is kimi coming back in f1?
Umm.. he never left? :cheeky:

Aww man.. I'm happy for Heikki, wish him good race for tomorrow, too, but what I really wish is that Kimi's speed is little better than today. I hope he could improve couple places..

That's what Kimi said:

Kimi Raikkonen: “Honestly, this was one of the best qualifying sessions of the season, even if we are not as quick as those on the front row. Our final result will depend basically on how the start goes. It will be very important to make up a few places, because if we end up behind a slower car, then the race is compromised. I think we are reasonably competitive in race trim, as could be seen in Q3, while we are struggling a bit on light tanks. So far, it’s been a good weekend and I am happy with the performance of the F60.”

So, if he's confident, we should be too!! The start will be crucial!!!! Kimi could get P3 by the end of first lap!!! Gooo Kimi! You can do it! And he even could win the race that way because he's heavier than the McLarens.

I would have liked to see Kimi P5, I think he would have liked to get that result too but anyway, good job!

Seeing him in the parc ferme without helmet, with sweaty and messy hair!!! OMG! Heart attack, nearly. Seeing his name at the 10th position at the end of Q2, heart attack, nearly.
icon2_laugh.gif

Hamster is on pole, that's not nice...
icon2_sad.gif
Heikki could have been in P1!!! But he messed it up, what a shame!

Was Kimi really second on Hungaroring? I don't remember that at all..

Anyways this day was a good one for Kimi :) I think we can expect good result from Spa!

^^ You really don't remember Kimi's result from Hungaroring? :tease:You must be joking!

Yes, it was indeed a good job from Kimi in Valencia! He did everything he could!:punk: I'm so proud of him. Sorry, to say this to you but I was so sure that Kimi will beat Heikki during the 2nd pit stop. Heikki is just too slow, or Kimi is too fast. Plus I think the McLaren is a better car right now than the Ferrari. When they showed that Kimi's in front of Heikki I was jumping up and down as if Kimi would have won the race.
icon2_laugh.gif
So amazing! I was pleased with Bari too. I don't like him that much but he's much better than Hami and he deserved a win after so many years.
icon2_smile.gif

Our commentators praised Kimi!!!! I was like: did I hear it well?
icon2_laugh.gif
They said that he was driving faultless and did a precise work all the time during the race and slightly, quietly climbed onto the podium!!!! And when Kimi tapped Rubens' shoulder they were joking like: that was the most emotional Kimi moment in years!
icon2_biggrin.gif

Poor Luca, what childish mistakes!? Well, to be honest, still I like him much more than Felipe and I think Kimi thinks the same. :)

I think my father hasn't seen Pussycat Nicole before and he was amazed!
icon2_laugh.gif
I must admit: he's beautiful.

I can't wait till Spa! Thank God, it's not that far away. We don't have to wait 2 weeks! :wild:

OMG!!!! The race in Hungary!!!!??? The place where the biggest Kimi fanbase is (apart from China)!!!! OMG! LOL And that was one of the tracks where they were expecting good result from Ferrari! And it did happen, actually! :);D
