Formule 1

3 Days!!!! OMG that's so little :wild: I'd be freaking out if I were you.. ( and I think you might be just doing the same right now  )

I'm so excited..........:wild: I think you can imagine, knowing my passion for my beloved Kimi and of course for F1 in general!!!:D

I can't think of anything else at all.

I'm optimistic right now, that no one can stop Kimi from winning this GP. It's his "home" GP so the track must be nice to him. I have to think that way, I hope my positive energy will be with him all weekend.

The weather is beautiful, sunny and hot and they say it will be the same during the weekend. I so hope that Kimi will fly in his hot red Ferrari in this hot weather!!!!!:angel::angel:

I would like to see his shy smile on the top of the podium!!!! I wouldn't mind if Heikki were 2nd. That would be great! (stealing some points from Hamilton and Massa... )

PRE-Hungarian GP - No stress!!!

Obviously, it's not a secret that I am not happy how things have gone during the last five races. To be honest, I felt very disappointed with those three successive races in Montreal, Magny-Cours and Silverstone. Each time, I was in a good position to win the race and for whatever reason things did not work out the way I wanted and we lost.

I have never been stressing too much and I'm not going to start right now. I just keep my head high and push as hard as I can in the next race again. That's what I have been doing every time we've had some difficult races back to back.

It's never nice to go to the media after a race without a win. I love to win, not to explain why we were not able to win.

Last weekend in Hockenheim was the most difficult weekend of the year. Of course I was disappointed and frustrated not to find a good balance in the car.

Now we are in better shape. We had a very productive test, especially on the second day which was good and the car felt well balanced again.

The team has been effective in developing our car and we are confident we should be competitive in Hungary. The Ferrari seems to like hot weather so hopefully and finally, we will get a hot weekend. That's what we've been looking forward to the whole summer.

Obviously McLaren have improved their car over the past two races but things can change again very quickly. I have won in Hungary and also finished second twice there. Two years ago, I took the pole position but so many things happened during the race that the pole didn't really help. This is one of those circuits where it's very difficult to overtake. So it's very important to have a good qualifying lap on Saturday.

It's still too early to make any predictions about the championship. The top three are inside 7 points so the positions can change only after one race. It's useless to worry about what has happened. Let's just look ahead. There are eight races to go and then we will see who is at top in the end.

We are just over the half way point in the season, so it's important to score consistant points over the remaining GPs. Hockenheim aside, I have been in a good position to win races and that will happen soon again.

The championship is going to be very close, and I look forward to winning races again.

One more push and after Hungary it will be holiday time. It's always nice to have a break and charge the batteries for the rest of the season. After testing in Jerez I had a couple of days to enjoy the beautiful Finnish summer in the sea with the boat.

Now we are on our way to Hungary. We will have our fourth wedding anniversary with Jenni on Thursday, but I'll be in Budapest then - hopefully to win the race.

Again some optimistic words from Kimi! :)GOOOO KIMI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:clapping::clapping::clapping:

Gosh it seems so long ago when Kimi had a good race last time...
Let's hope you, Kinga, bring some good luck to him this weekend! :cheeky:

^^^yeah, he needs some good results this weekend! At least a podium finish but I would be more than happy if he could win this. I don't want Hamilton to score his 5th victory this season. At least not now. Kimi needs this win, it would be good for his soul before the 3 weeks holiday.

Tomorrow is the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:punk::punk::punk::punk::punk:

Kinga hey have lots of fun!!!!!
And pack lots of luck for Kimi and Ferrari in your bags ok!!!!!!!

McLaren keep Kovalainen for 2009

_44879079_heikkibody226.jpg
A run of bad luck has seen Kovalainen lose valuable points

McLaren have ended speculation about Heikki Kovalainen's future by confirming he will race for the team alongside Lewis Hamilton in 2009.

The 26-year-old Finn was pleased with the decision and said he was ready to commit to the team.
"I want to be a successful with them - hopefully, we can announce at some point in the future that I will stay for many years to come," he said.
"I'd be happy to finish my career with this team, to be honest."
Team-mate and world championship leader Lewis Hamilton said he was delighted with the announcement.
"It's great news - the atmosphere in the team is fantastic, and a lot of that is due to Heikki being there and how we have worked together," said the Briton.
"So I welcome it, and I really hope he stays for longer."
The Finn, 26, has collected 28 points so far in his debut season for McLaren but the team believe he can progress.
McLaren chief executive Martin Whitmarsh added: "He is a brilliant young racing driver.
o.gif

"But there's no magic in Formula One and we still need to work with Heikki to extract his full potential."
Kovalainen joined McLaren from Renault for the beginning of the 2008 season with Fernando Alonso moving in the opposite direction.
After a progressive season with Renault, the Finn was expected to provide a tough, but more amicable, team-mate for Hamilton at McLaren.
However, after 10 races, Kovalainen trails Hamilton by 30 points in the drivers' standings to see his own title chances fade.
A topsy-turvy season has seen the Finn perform well in qualifying, capturing a maiden pole at Silverstone, but struggle to make his grid positions count.
Kovalainen's only podium of the season has come with third place in Malaysia and the Finn has been working with the team's engineers to improve his set-up ahead of this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.
But McLaren, who were rumoured to be interested in Williams's Nico Rosberg, have chosen to stick with Kovalainen as they look to build a period of stability at the team after a 2007 season upset by strained team relationships and the McLaren-Ferrari spy row. Whitmarsh added: "We welcomed Heikki on board at the start of the year. "He is under contract to McLaren Mercedes and will race for us in the 2009 season."

^^^It's good! :)

Kinga hey have lots of fun!!!!!
And pack lots of luck for Kimi and Ferrari in your bags ok!!!!!!!

:hat_wave: :hat_wave: :hat_wave: :hat_wave: :hat_wave:

Hey! Thanks!

Sure, my bags are packed, they are so heavy!!!

Goooo Kimi! Gooooooooo!

The weather won't be the issue this time so I hope there would be good race pace for Ferrari!!!

Keep the tyres heated Kimi - for the qualifying!!!!!

:hat_wave::hat_wave::hat_wave::hat_wave::hat_wave:

^ Hey so will you have any big flags with you or something where I can spot you???
I want to know if I see you from tv!!

Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :hat_wave:

I'm back at home!!!!!!!! I can't believe I saw this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was simply amazing!

I'm speechless at the moment. I don't know how I would be able to describe my feelings. I'll try but I have to calm down a bit. I'll write my thoughts down as soon as I have a little time. There's so much I would like to tell you. So wait a little bit... :)

Anyways, the results are not so good, but let's wait and see tomorrow's qualifying session and the Sunday's race. They say even warmer weather for tomorrow and for Sunday. Fingers crossed for Kimi!!!!!!!!!

^ Can't wait to hear what you have to tell us! :wild:

I love our commentators
They were so happy for Heikki and his great result on qualifying and the ywere just screaming: "very well done for Heikki he is 2nd (and then Kimi came... 5th place) but very bad job for Kimi he's only 5th very hard weekend for ferrari! LOL.

Anyway, it is bad result but *sigh* I guess everything can happend and I'll keep on :angel:it goes better tomorrow.

Oh dear GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(:( Kimi is 6th again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kimi Räikkönen:
"I made a mistake on my final flying lap which cost me precious time, and that followed on from not having got a great lap on my previous attempt, which explains why I'm sixth. Of course I am not happy and, starting from the third row, my race will be an uphill struggle. I will try and make the most of this situation, given that the car today was not that bad. We are going through a bit of a difficult time but we mustn't give up: all we need to do is put together all the pieces of the jigsaw and then the results will come to us again."

I said to myself that Hungary would be the turning point. If McLaren keep this speed and Kimi keep making errors during qualifying then I can state that Hamilton would win this championship.

I have been supporting Kimi through his ups and downs for several years, I've always believed in him but I don't know what's happening with him... I just can't believe that he always makes mistakes, he always has to talk about that he had problems with the balance, he had problem with the tyres. It seems that nothing's working well for him. I haven't seen him in such low-key period in his whole career. There were one or two races where he was not that good but everytime he turned around things quite easily. It seems that his luck faded away when he hit Sutil in Monte Carlo. Since then nothing good has happened.

It annoys me that Massa keep doing better during qualifying and Kimi has no answer to that.

Maybe I'm too pessimistic but now I don't feel Kimi could defend his title. My worst dream is to see Hamilton's big grin in Brasil (or earlier) on the top of the podium becoming world champion. It seems my worst dream would become reality......

So I'm not in the best mood to talk about my Friday experiences but I'll give it a try...

It was very very good... of course. :D Everything was so great I wouldn't expected it that it would be so so great!!! I've seen F1 cars from the close distance I could reach them. It was a surprise to me that they are so little, they seemed that they are just toys or match boxes... haha I've seen Ferrari, Toyota, McLaren, Renault, Red Bull. They really look amazing in real life. The cock pits are so little, too.

When we arrived we could see a lot of shops where you can buy F1 merchandise. Haha I bought a Kimi cap from the McLaren era. That was the cheapest.

So we sit the opposite of the pit lane. Sorrily the Ferrari box was far away from us. We arrived early so we walked there to see it, but it was too early, not much life happened there at that time. We sit the opposite of the Red Bull, Toyota box. The life in the pit lane was quite busy so we never got bored. The first 45 minutes of the first free practice was kinda boring because almost nothing happened. Kimi and Massa came only after this. When we first heard the voices of the cars... that was just unbelievable. I didn't think that it would be soooooooooooooooooo loud!!! OMG! That was a cool feeling! Do you know which car has the most beautiful sound??? Which has the loudest and the nicest voice??? You would never guess I think! It was the HONDA!!! Honda's voice was amazing!!!! Ferrari's and all the other car's voices seemed not that great.

We could see all the pilots doing their work during the 2 practices. All the drivers set about 20-25 laps during the first free practice and about 35-40 during the second. We hardly know the results because we couldn't hear the loud-speakers. The screens were not that big so we couldn't see the results from there.

I still cannot believe I saw this, because that was my dream. It was a cool experience and we will go next year definitely. It's not worth to go to the GP I think because you don't know the result when you are there. It was a good decision to go on Friday because we have seen 3 hours of pure F1. We sit in the best place, we saw the pit lane work which was great. The sounds in the pit lane was amazing, too. Sometimes the pilots stopped at the end of the pit lane to wait for other cars on the track and when they started.... aaaaaahhhh

Ferrari has the biggest fan base, that's sure. It was soo cool to see those people. Young or old, boy or girl, man or woman, they were all in Ferrari T-shirts. If someone a Ferrari supporter then he or she is most definitely a Kimi fan (or Schumi). I hardly could see any Massa fans. I've only seen some Alonso and some Hamilton fans (really some, I can count them on one hand!). It was great to see those Kimi fans! When Kimi come, everybody was screaming and waving!!! But just when Kimi came with his car!!!! Oh, and Kubica has a lot of Polish supporter. They came just because of him from Poland. THey say that there are 50,000 Polish fans there!!! There were thousands of Kimi fans, but they were Hungarian. I couldn't hear any Finnish talk... It was a surprise for me. I thought that Finnish people also come to see Kimi or Heikki.

When we saw these cars with 290 km/h... OMG! That was just great! I thought they are really toys!!! They look so different from what we can see on the tv. They are so little and fragile... and the pilot's helmet is so little too..

Overall it was a very nice experience and I liked what I've seen very much. I will watch F1 with different eyes from now on.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and pictures with us, I really appreciate it. Other than Kimi's poor qualifying it sounds like you had a great time. Hopefully Kimi will at least finish on the podium Sunday (but a win would be nice!) :)

^^^You're welcome! :)

I was there on Friday so I didn't know what would happen today. So I was very happy till the qualifying...

I so hope that maybe he could reach podium but it's unlikely IMO... If there won't be any issue with Hamilton's, Kovalainen's or Massa's car then it's almost impossible. The 4th place maybe...

Btw, are you a Kimi fan or other driver's fan? I haven't seen you here in this thread before. But, please, if you feel like, then come here often. :D

I'm a Ferrari fan and longtime F1 fan. I'd prefer to see Kimi win the WDC again this year, but as long as it's either of the two red cars with a prancing horse on it it's fine by me, lol. Nice to meet you!

Kinga! Don't give up the faith! There is still chances to Kimi win teh champion, this circuit just fits better to McLaren!
The last races of the seasons there are 3 races that suits better to Ferrari and Kimi has good change to win there, McLaren is better only in 2 races and the rest are equal.
Everything is still open!
Go KIMI!! :hat_wave:

Hi there!
Feel free to post your thoughts about races or anything related to F1 because basically it's me and Kinga and sometimes Mechi who are posting here and it would be nice to have new opinions too.. :)

Wow. Great race by Massa and then it all blows up at the end, poor guy. Especially after his fantastic start.

McLaren gets yet another gift. Heikki gets the win and Hammy gets to keep his lead in the points.

Kimi manages a podium so that worked out nice for him, maybe he can build on it and get the lead again in the WDC

This race left a very good taste in my mouth.

It was good to see Kimi back at podium even if it was "only" 3rd but I'm not in the mood for complaining right now.
I'm so happy for Heikki's first win even though it came because Massa's dramatic blow up. (Massa's start was amazing!)

I have to say again - you can't do else but love our commentators:
When Hamilton's tyre blew up, our commentator's first reaction was "This is great!" but of course he had to repair it and after a while when Heikki was leading and Kimi was 3rd he said: "That was very unfortunate what happened to Hamilton" LOL

It was sad that Massa had to retire so little before the end but as a Kimi fan - better this way than that Massa would've won and Kimi 4th..

Today proves that Kimi still got the speed and really it isn't all about Hamilton. Though OK it had a lot to do that Hamilton and Massa dropped from the front but still..

Go Kimi!! :hat_wave:

wow, it's all good then. Welcome to the "family"... Great to have you here! :)

:hat_wave: Gooooooooooooooo Kimi!!! :hat_wave:
*giggle* sometimes the luck is with those who deserve it!*
Now hear what I'm saying (most of all Mr. Hamilton listen to my words! lol): It doesn't matter who leads... it only matters who wins the championship! THINK OF LAST YEAR!

:hat_wave: :hat_wave: :hat_wave:

Now today that was bad luck for Massa and this way Ferrari and also for Hamilton and this way for McLaren... but usually things do make sense after a while!

OMG!!! What a race!!!!

I have so much to tell ....

Now, that's THE Kimi I would like to see everytime what he did in the last 15 laps... was simply amazing! That's why I love him, that he's soooo fast! No one can beat him!!! It's a shame that because of his pure qualifying performance he got stuck behind Alonso. He (and the team) really needs to solve this problem!!!

The first 50 laps was so boring I was really sad that Kimi was only the 7th position, stuck behind Alonso for damn 50 laps!!!! He couldn't do anything. I knew that Alonso won't do any mistake so I trusted only in the box strategies. Kimi did an excellent job overtaking Alonso during the second pit stops!!! That's what Kimi can do sooo great! When no one is in front of him no one is faster! That's sure. When he came out of the pit stop our commentators thought that Alonso was far before him and it turned out that he was far away behind him!!!! :) Simply amazing!

It's so sad that he was only 6th on the starting grid he could have managed to get a better result but overall I'm so happy to have seen him on podium again! I said that a 3rd place is maybe possible and it's not the end of the world. My bitter thoughts are far away now, I trust in him unconditionally. He showed and proved that he likes driving and he CAN drive! He set the fastest lap again!!!

I said to myself that Hamilton might have an issue with the tyres because he's so aggressive. It happened... I don't feel sorry for him at all. (Sorry.)

I do feel - honestly - very sorry for Massa. It was an amazing start from him and he built a nice gap between Hamilton and himself. It was a great driving for him and he didn't deserve this at all.

Though Heikki was lucky (just like Kimi) I was very very happy to see him on the top of the podium. Two Finnish guys on the podium was great!

I have to mention Timo Glock, too. He did a fantastic job and he didn't let Kimi to get past.

I was very frustrated when I saw Kimi pushing the buttons on his steering wheel just 2 laps before the end of the race. I thought that maybe his engine or car is in trouble, too. Now, I couldn't have taken it.

It was a very exciting race and I'm happy that Heikki could win his first GP here in Hungary.

They were so sweet on the podium and during the interviews... Kimi was like father to his son with Heikki.

Our commentators were joking and said: wow, what a party would be in the evening with the 2 Finnish friends... :)

So, I'm in a much better mood, nothing has lost!!!! Kimi will fight! I know it and feel it!

It's good that they will have a 3 weeks rest. I hope Kimi can rest and chill out with his wife and friends. :)

Keep flying Kimi!!!:clapping:

:hat_wave: Gooooooooooooooo Kimi!!! :hat_wave:

Amen to that!!!!!

You're welcome. I'll post more pics soon.

How about coming to Hungary for the next year's GP? That would be great! :) We would spend the days together. At Hungaroring you could feel yourself as if you were at home because of the plenty Finnish flags
About the other thing you mentioned in your post. Maybe there are tracks which suits McLaren or Ferrari better... yes, Kimi has good chance to win at those circuits, but the problem is the qualifying. If he and the team can't make the things in order... then the situation is like in Hockenheim and in Hungaroring... It seems that since Spain he has big problems in the qualifying and Massa doesn't have any. I just don't get this... Why they can't solve this? It's absurd that he is always behind a Toyota or a Renault... He is the reigning world champion afterall... isn't he?

SOmeday I will come to Hungarian Gp, if not next year then the year after that when I'm of age

I love this pic. Kimi looks so sad but Heikki seems to try to cheer him up a little bit

^^^Ok, so when you would come, we have to meet :) and we will go to the GP together!!!! :cheeky: That would be so great!

I think Kimi was not sad but that's just a typical face expression from him. I like this expression of his. He's cute! I think he was more than satisfied after that awful qualifying because he wouldn't had gotten the chance to have a podium finish if Massa or Hamilton hadn't finished the race before it ends and his friend won his first GP in F1. :)

What about this picture???!!! When I saw them lift up the bottle of champagne to have a drink at the same time.... I started to laugh hysterically...:D:D

^^^you do like the Puma shoes...? From this picture I like the crotch grabbing the best...may I say...

I've read some sentences from a Hungarian girl who was there on Saturday and on Sunday at Hungaroring and she said the following (really interesting, but I'm not surprised at all):
When the 3 pilots (Hamilton, Kovalainen and Massa) came to the photographers and to wave to the fans after the qualifying Hamilton was booed and people whistle!!!!!
When he had his tyre blew up during the race people started to scream from joy and jumping up and down...
So it seems we are not the only ones who doesn't like Hamilton at all. It seems they hate him. :*****:
It seems 90% of the people in Hungary are Kimi's and Ferrari's fans! :punk:

I'm so proud!Hungaroring is heaven for a Kimi fan!!! :punk:
I've never thought it would be sooo amazing! I was so proud in my Kimi T-shirt...:dancin: I felt if I was a member of a big family!:D

Watch these pics! They speak for themselves...:punk::punk:
