Controversial MJ Documentary Leaving Neverland [GENERAL DISCUSSION THREAD]

As for that b:censored:. On my H8T list she goes and I bet ya that her dad Lenny is really ashamed of her right now.

Exactly. Funny you mentioned John Landis too, as personally I knew both of them independently from MJ (for film buffs they are unavoidable, plus QJ produced some quite accessible jazz tunes for the general public as well, not just for die-hard jazz fans). But you're right they are famous/recognised mostly in their own fields. However their bitterness is a bit incomprehensible, why weren't they just happy about the bigger exposure? If anything, they profited from their association with MJ, not the other way around. And I'm sure quite a lot of MJ fans bought QJ albums initially because of their fandom but ended up enjoying them - looks like a win-win situation fore me...

Ego....

Yeah landis was big in his field. American w.w in london scared the bits off me!! I was all of about 8 when i watched it? Mind you it still does now?

It's sad to see, because pop culture has a massive power when it comes to formin opinion of it's consuments. Younger viewers who haven't read much into the case will take their word for granted and just run with it until someone challenges them.

And they'll likely dig their heels in and refuse to even look at the other side. I was worried about the long-term effects of LN, and it looks like this is the start of it. :(

Just ignore people who believes he guilty. at this point they doing it on purpose. they know exactly what they doing and get mad and block you when you call them out.

I hope Prince, Paris, and Bigi be careful. it's really sad they been going through this crap since they was kids. follow by Michael died then it's been 10 years since he been gone. like they still pretty much grieving! their dad never coming back and people keep doing crap like this. they don't care who they hurt. I hate this world!

I disagree. We have to stop thinking what a few people say or do represent everyone. MJ music is still popular. When have you seen an artists who has been dead for 10 years whose still revival current artists.

I agree. Remember this for example I have never met Charles Thomson but he seems to me like a thruth teller sometimes almost a bit mean but he said on the Square one premiere that he was chocked by the number of people who said they used to think MJ was guilty but LN seemed fake and it was what got them started in investigating all the allegations, including Danny Wu himself. I mean this has been going on since 93 and I have seen a lot of people on twitter who said that as well, they actually became fans after researching BECAUSE OF LN.

Regarding Danny Wu I hope he is ok because he has been stuck in China since he went there to celebrate the Chinese New Year because of the Coronavirus.

I’m one of them. :)

Initially I only wanted to find out what’s up with those (to me) new allegations. But when I was done with researching those, I stumbled upon a quote by MJ, that he hoped that one day people will understand him, and I thought ok, fair enough, challenge accepted, and here I am. :)

Did you see his coronavirus mini-documentary?
Yes, as I understand it he is still stuck in Chengdu and don’t know when he can go back because his flight is cancelled.

That's actually fantastic. That's exactly what that bald headed piece of trash Dan Reed didn't want. At the end of the day there will always be people that just let the media be their guidance and they eat it up, their loss, not Michael's and not ours.

The other day I watched the taped conversation Michael had with Smuley. This is something all those believers of LN should hear/watch, that is how Michael really felt. I don't like Smuley one bit because in the end he turned out to be a snake as well. One time he says he was like a child, not a monster at all. And then later he goes all "he might have done something unforgivable". Michael had way too many of these sharks circling around him sadly.

But as much of a two face a hole Smuley is, those tapes do bring us the real MJ. I'm not going near his books though.

I'm not sure if he said anything about just MJ in particular, but as his main focus on twitter is false accusations and its serious consequences, there were often interactions with MJ supporters under his tweets.

He was accused with historic CSA, tried and acquitted (I guess that's the force behind his mission to help others with similar situations and raise awareness for the topic in the public): https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-29712967

It's a sad news about his declining health. :(

Just been anounced that hes died. R.I.P

Sorry to hear this. :(

Charles Thomson made a mini-thread about Simon Warr’s story of being falsely accused:

Recommended reading for everyone here.

It sounds so cold to say that it was an interesting read, it destroyed his life. Anyway I am really sorry to hear he passed away. He tweeted just a couple of days ago that he was ”unlikely to be on twitter again”. I am going to read his book, just ordered it from Amazon.

Michael pretty much out did everyone. he helped and worked with other artists and some artists didn't get notice until they partner up with Michael. Michael been gone for 10 years and his first solo album as an adult was release 40 years ago. his music still being played and still on the top of everyone.

at the end of the day be happy for this man. he been doing this since he was basically 5. bless him.

Justice for Michael Jackson
Tim White February 20, 2020 In The Objective Standard, Spring 2020

Author’s note: Please be advised that some parts of this article contain graphic descriptions of alleged sexual abuse of minors, where it is necessary to address those claims.

I’m a perfectionist. I’m never totally satisfied. I always wish the world could be a better place. Hopefully, that’s what I do with my music—bring happiness to people, bring some joy and peace into their lives. —Michael Jackson

The story of Michael Jackson’s child abuse trial in 2005 is one of the most complex and controversial in recent memory, from both legal and ethical perspectives. In preparing to write this article, I read the court transcripts—which total nearly eight thousand pages—in their entirety. I watched all of the major films and documentaries about Jackson (so far as I know), including Living with Michael Jackson, Man in the Mirror, and Leaving Neverland. I spent hundreds of hours scouring the internet and public archives, listening carefully to what both Jackson’s supporters and accusers have had to say.

Jackson was publicly accused of child abuse twice while he was still alive. In 1993, the Chandler family briefly pursued a criminal case against him but quickly dropped it and filed a civil case that was settled out of court. In 2003, the Arvizo family filed a criminal complaint, and the subsequent case went to trial in 2005. Jackson was fully acquitted, but four years after his death in 2009, James Safechuck and Wade Robson publicly accused him of molesting them in the late 1980s and early ’90s. Both filed civil suits against Jackson’s estate, and both suits were thrown out. In this article, we’ll examine these incidents in chronological order.

Michael Jackson was an incredible entertainer. He set and broke dozens of records during his career, produced the best-selling album of all time (Thriller, 1982—at least 100 million copies sold worldwide to date), set thirty-nine Guinness World Records, and won forty Billboard Awards, thirteen Grammys, and twenty-six American Music Awards. Even after his death, his achievements continue to rack up. He has the highest posthumous earnings of any celebrity: As of 2018, he had earned $2.1 billion since his death.1

Few people—even those who don’t like his music—would dispute that Jackson was a brilliant entertainer. But although most people know how passionate and skilled he was, his achievements have been overshadowed in recent decades by allegations that he sexually abused numerous young boys between 1988 and 2003. These allegations have become so commonplace and pervasive that many people speak of Jackson as if he were obviously guilty. As Jackson said at the outset of his trial, “Lies run sprints, but the truth runs marathons. The truth will win this marathon in court.” It ultimately did, but public opinion often fails to keep pace with the facts.

On March 3, 2019, the allegations against Jackson once again became a hot topic when director Dan Reed released a four-hour “documentary” titled Leaving Neverland. “Documentary” is in scare quotes because little about Leaving Neverland is factual, and Reed knows it.2 The film presents no new evidence or witnesses but relies entirely on testimony from only two alleged victims, both of whom have changed their stories many times over the years—a fact Reed declines to mention.

Jackson, of course, did himself no favors. He was eccentric, eclectic, and, at times, just plain weird. He often behaved unwisely, but lacking wisdom is not a criminal offense, and there is almost no evidence to suggest—much less prove—that he ever harmed a child. On the other hand, there is a great deal of evidence showing that many people had motives to knowingly make false claims to the contrary.

Michael Jackson received justice, but only in the legal sense, when he was acquitted in 2005. For all intents and purposes, his career and personal life both were over after that. He suffered tremendous emotional trauma as a result of the trial and the years of sensationalized, irrationally biased, and sometimes flagrantly dishonest media coverage.3 He fell deeply into debt, developed a serious drug problem, and struggled to compose music for the rest of his life. The legal system had exonerated him, but the public had not—and still hasn’t, by and large.

Jackson’s memory and his living relatives deserve justice in the fullest sense. Other publications and media outlets sometimes have told his story accurately, but not loudly, frequently, or rigorously enough to drown out the lies. This article is an effort to tell the truth about a great—and greatly misunderstood—man. . . .

Anyone willing to take the time to assess Michael Jackson’s case carefully and objectively will learn that he was no child molester. The facts simply don’t support that horrific accusation.

1/11 So @hulu have aired a new TV series starring @ZoeKravitz (daughter of @LennyKravitz & Lisa Bonet). It features what I can only describe as the most uncomfortable & downright cringeworthy scene ever, where her character along with @DaVineJoy viciously slanders @michaeljackson pic.twitter.com/JcRa7l0yGW

LOL at this pompous slogan. The good old "know-it-all underground music store seller opinionist" trope. Who of course know better then you, have better taste than you, and are very original! Too bad this "originality" is just the listing of the obligatory works of the decades-old pop/rock canon they never dare to challenge.

And of course one of the characters wears a Lou Reed shirt at some point - nothing against Reed, it's just that these kind of cliché characters always have to wear these kind of shirts. You know, because they are so knowledgeable at music and so original!

I guess this show is cringeworthy even without that MJ scene...

I love this comment so so much! I'm still not over the fact that Zoe Kravitz didn't object to that horrible dialogue (she's a Hollywood darling, I'm sure she had some power over this). I would have refused to say the words and sent the writers back to the hole they crawled out of to come up with such a delusional script.

Did ya'll see that shit with Snoop at that show of Jada Pinkett Smith? Pathetic! So because he was going off on Gayle he was also going off at Jada? That woman is nuts. But it all makes sense, she's friends with HOprah and I'm sure with Gayle too. I like Will Smith but his wife is coocoo for cocopuffs.
