The Estate of Michael Jackson and Michael Jackson ONE are kicking off a three-day birthday celebration in honor of the King of Pop.

It's happening on Aug. 27 at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. They will unveil a spectacular, iconic piece of Michael Jackson memorabilia, the fourth to be loaned by the Estate and installed at Mandalay Bay.

The unveiling will take place just prior to the 7 p.m. performance that evening. During the unveiling ceremony, which will take place at an exclusive meet-and-greet from 5:30 to 6 p.m. with members of the Estate and surprise guests, patrons with tickets to the show will have the opportunity to witness the live reveal of this historic, one-of-a-kind piece.

This event is open only to those with tickets to Michael Jackson ONE during the King of Pop’s birthday celebration August 27-29.

Guests who attend performances on those days will also receive exclusive access to the various festivities all three days including on Michael Jackson’s birthday.

Michael Jackson’s pinstripe suit worn during the filming of from the “Smooth Criminal” short film will be displayed in the lobby of The Michael Jackson ONE Theater starting Saturday, August 27! This suit, featured in one of Michael’s most unforgettable dance sequences styles, can be seen by all attendees of Michael Jackson ONE at The Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

I was instantly suspicious as to whether or not it was the one from the This Is It Smooth Criminal video or the original Moonwalker one.

Is it definitely the original one?

It looks like the outfit, used for This Is It filming, not the Moonwalker one. Also, if the original hat from Smooth Criminal 1988 video is presented at Hard Rock Cafe in Cairo, Egypt. I've got fresh photos of that to share.

Michael Jackson's Estate and Cirque du Soleil Celebrated the King of Pop's Birthday in Vegas With Style

Earlier this week, the world celebrated what would have been Michael Jackson's 58th birthday. The celebration by fans included a massive outpouring of appreciation for the King of Pop on all social media platforms throughout the day. In Las Vegas, Michael Jackson's estate and Cirque du Soleli kicked off the birthday festivities with a number of special events centered around the live "Michael Jackson One" Cirque show, which has now been running for three years.

As part of the celebration, members of MJ's estate were on hand to unveil the exact suit that Michael wore during his infamous "Smooth Criminal" short film as the latest piece of memorabilia featured at the Las Vegas event hall. Throughout the weekend and into the week, parts of the celebration included a special "Michael Jackson One" boutique with three never-before-seen paintings by Nate Giorgio, which were inspired by the show.

If you've never been, the "Michael Jackson One" show is a special event that blends together the excitement and entertainment of a legendary Cirqe du Soleli show with the classic music of Michael Jackson including his hits "Thriller," "Smooth Criminal," "Man in the Mirror," "Beat It," and many more. For the birthday celebration, the "Michael Jackson One" team put together a very special show that was followed up with a VIP experience that featured commentary from Jamie King, cast members, and more. Nice. But I have a really stupid question: why are they calling Smooth Criminal infamous. That's famous for a bad or evil reason. Hitler was infamous, for example.

I've seen this before-people calling Thriller infamous, or the Bad Tour infamous. They're famous, NOT infamous.
Is it that they don't understand the meaning and think they're being complimentary?


(That suit in the pix looks more like the original SC suit than the TII one to me).
 
Not a stupid question but a good one! I feel of late more and more people have started using infamous in place of famous. It could probably be a coincidence or plain ignorance, but it definitely is a misuse. Both words are not synonyms of each other. In extremely rare cases, infamous sounds more appropriate than famous, but not in the above mentioned context. :)
 
I couldn't think of any so I pulled this from the internet, it probably sounds more appropriate to say "We climbed the infamous Mt Everest" than to say "We climbed the famous Mt Everest." It may sound good but it's definitely wrong.
