Britney Spears

I can't believe I'm saying this but for the first time in many years I am actually very curious about her new music lol.
I looked at my cd collection today and noticed I have 4 of her albums (her first 4).
( I was heavily in the teenpop scene in the beginning)
I guess I, like many others, grew up with her around.
I didn't like her music enough to buy her last 2 though ( plus I was way preoccupied by Michael)

I think I'll give her a fair shot this time around.
A part of me wants to support her now for some reason. I don't know what's happening to me. lol

I have to say though that "3" song was definitly not for me.

edit: I think a big turn of for me was that she started to sound generic to me.
I would like to hear something more personal from her, something that seperates her more from the others.
Almost like I'm waiting for her to have a "Madonna, ray of light" type of album. Something that will make people stop and rethink their perception of her.
I don't know if that will ever happen though, but I think she would get more respect for her music that way maybe.

I would also like an album that would make her be taken more seriously, but we must remember that she's still a very young woman and even Madonna wasn't able to make ROL until she was almost 40. Britney has plenty of time.

As for why you are becoming more inclined to Britney, it's probably because of the all the MJ trauma we have suffered over the years. We lost MJ to media negligence (I hold them responsible for his woes... after all he could have slept had they left him alone) and Britney seemed to be going down the same road so I can understand how someone would want to support her. She needs it. The media and general public are still very harsh on her but luckily she has some really great devoted fans.

sorry for being a ninny, but what does ROL stand for??

thanks,

Really? I'm a Britney fan so that's awesome and really impressive, but what is the source of your information? I'm only wondering because the song came out just today.

My ears couldn't stand for the new single.. Sorry.
I miss the old Britney.. I was big fan of her as I am with Michael.. But when she changed.. I wasn't really a fan anymore. But of course it's really sad about the papparazi.. I don't like that everybody hate her and make fun of her. She have been through a lot of things. It makes me so mad when I see the papparazi follow her 24/7.. She dosen't deserve it.. :(

BRITNEY SPEARS SHATTERS RECORDS WITH
“HOLD IT AGAINST ME”

#1 On iTunes Songs Chart

Sets New One-Day Precedent As Single Tops Charts Within Hours Of Its Release

britbed.jpg

New York, NY - Perhaps USA Today sums it up best, "Spears’ new single delivers enough dizzying dance-pop ecstasy to ensure another chart-topping ride...”

Following the digital release of "Hold It Against Me" on Monday, 1/10/11, Britney Spears shatters all previous records for the most number of spins for a first or one-day at both Mediabase and BDS, according to one of the radio industry’s top analysts Kevin McCabe, founding principal of Musicrunch.

“Top 40 outlets across the country immediately put 'Hold It Against Me' in rotation and received instant-reaction airplay at America's most-influential stations including Z100 and WXRK in New York and KIIS and KAMP in Los Angeles,” states McCabe.

Sharon Dastur, program director for New York’s Z100, one of the top influential pop radio stations in the country says, "Ever since we played it yesterday, the reaction has been phenomenal. The audience loves it!"

In addition to the overwhelming fan response at radio, the sales story is also impressive; in less than a day of its release, "Hold It Against Me" is the #1 Song on iTunes.

Britney had 619 spins at Mediabase in what was only a partial day of spins for Monday, 1/10/11. At BDS, Britney had 595 first or one-day spins - also on a partial day's worth of airplay. Britney's big one-day powered her onto the BDS one-day building chart at 16* and perhaps even more impressive was her audience debut at 7*.

As expected, Spears is also a trending topic on twitter worldwide.

Britney Spears Single "Hold It Against Me" #1 On iTunes Everywhere
Britney Spears decided to release her song a little early on Monday but don’t hold it against her. “Hold It Against Me,” the first single off her upcoming seventh album, is already #1 on iTunes everywhere and is the fastest-moving track on radio.

“if I said my heart was beating loud/If we could escape the crowd somehow/If I said I want your body now/Would you hold it against me?” Britney sings over a fist-pumping dance beat in this pulsating melodic come-on.

The song just hit iTunes late Monday night, where its available exclusively until next week, and it’s already #1 in countries like the U.S., Italy, France, Greece, Mexico, Norway, Spain and Sweden, among others.

The song also had radio’s biggest debut yet. It earned over 700 spins in just one day, beating out recent first single debuts from her peers like Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” and Rihanna’s “Only Girl (In the World). It’s also one of the biggest radio days for any song, period.

“Hold It Against Me,” produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke, is the first taste of Britney’s seventh as-yet-untitled seventh album. It’s the first since 2008’s “Circus,” which yielded the #1 hit “Womanizer.”

The album is set to hit stores on March 15th. Along with “Hold It Against Me,” it’s also said to feature the another Martin-production “I I I Wanna Go,” among others.

I wish luck to Britney! :wild:

I think Britney is a sweet girl but that song is just awful. I guess I'm too old for this ( LOL...)

I like Britney's voice and her style (both as an individual and an artist). And, God, her smile is gorgeous...-->fainted... :)

Wow! That's great! Good for her. :)

I love the fact that despite all the naysayers and nasty people who always downplay and underestimate Britney, she always bounces back, stronger than ever. She's done it for the past 12 years. Go Britney!

i've always been one of those ****ers. she's a pretty good dancer and used to look good but that pathetic voice of hers generates zero emotion. all her songs are basically the same 'come on' crap we've seen for 10 years. the fact that her crappy music is #1 shows how dumbed down and valueless the masses are. she's like the fast food of music. she's more tolerable than the human wreckage Lady gaga though.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to illustrate exactly what this topic is about.

UPDATE: Britney's new song, "Hold It Against Me" will debut at #1 tomorrow on the BB Hot 100, becoming her fourth #1. Congratulations to Brit!

i like britneys music a lot.

didnt know she has a new song though

That's because the song was just released and is already #1. That's the power of Britney. She's been in the game for 12 years and is still going strong. I am really amazed at how much her fans care about her after all this time. Remember, much like Madonna, critics said she'd be gone within a couple years time. And unlike Madonna, Britney suffered a really terrible media and public flogging the likes of our dear MJ and survived. Madonna did suffer a pretty terrible media backlash in 1992 but I would have to say Britney suffered much more. Cameras following her around, twisting and turning everything she does and provoking her to lash out. 2007 was a crazy hard time to be Britney or a fan.

True.. but luckily Britney had her family who cared about her. Her father stepped up to the plate and saw his baby needed help and was struggling. He took over. MJ has never had that from his family sadly and now he's gone
