Due to the various fakes over the previous years you have expected that a brand-new track that Michael Jackson has recorded in 2007 would still feature the INVINCIBLE-era like voice.

Can you remember what Michael went through in his past years and that it has been several times reported that he started working on brand-new music that "will shock the world" with a new style that will be even new to his long-time fans.


Well, if you don't like the song, that's up to you, but as a contributor to "For The Record" and as an audio expert of Michael Jackson's singing voice (and owning a collection of unreleased songs as well) I can confirm that "Breaking News" is sung by Michael Jackson, the King of Pop.

This is it! Neither blame Sony Music nor the MJ Estate, but rather start accepting it.

This is my 2nd and final posting on the authenticity of "Breaking News". Don't see my posting as a personal insult, I'm just speaking for myself. Thanks.

I think this is quite a good and mainly catchy song, but after one time listening to it I didn't want to hear it again because I felt weird. Now I don't know whether that is because it's MJ's very first posthumous 'new' songor because it might not be really him. I can't comprehend Sony and Teddy and so many others who would have to be involved doing something like this. So for now, I'll give Sony the benefit of the doubt, also because I would feel like insulting Michael if this does turn out to be him. With autotune and other techniques, who knows what production reasons/styles are behind this song. Hopefully Sony can prove the autheticity by releasing the material Michael recorded. I would have loved us fans to just enjoy and be happy though, without all this doubt and confusion, so I think Sony and everybody who loves MJ would have been better off with another first song of this new album :(

I can because I believe its him as well. I think most of the questioning going on wouldn't even be there if it wasn't first suggested by people who the fans believe in that its not him.

Sony just needs to properly PROVE that it is Michael Jackson, screw the forensic bs we just want unedited acapellas, to just hear him naturally singing it without all of the editing that has gone on.

Its that simple really but inevitably it won't happen and this will go on & on.

Hopefully Sony have the brains to get this sorted ASAP

^ Hold My Hand was recorded in 2008. Voice on that sounds nothing like on Breaking News recorded in 2007.


And how many songs in the past as Michael sang his first name and last?

Korgnex, you may be in whatever company you want or have whatever unreleased you want or be an expert in MJ's singing voice, my opinion on how fake it is has nothing to do with the family, or sony, or if the song is good, my reason for thinking it's not Michael is because I don't recognize MJ's voice in this song. It's not him, period. If you believe it's him, fine good for you, but let other people be entitled to their opinon without being judged please.

MJ Fans are ALSO expert in MJ's singing voice. And what I hear is not Michael.

This is not nice.

I know, I've just tried to do it in hope that if MJ's voice got deeper it'll be easier to recognize him with raised pitch. Unfortunately, it's not.. :scratch:

Why not? Beatles, Elvis? they had many releases of old unreleased songs in the last years.
And the new contract is about 7 albums. the first (this one) will be with songs recorded in the last ~5 years. they are trying to do some kind of comeback. the follow up's will be with songs from older album sessions. even so, they can be updated. but mostly for worst. i don't mind something like the TUC full with demos or half produced songs.

I've read your comments about someone trying to sell/leak or whatever, unreleased song "breaking" in one other board. If thats what makes you think this is 100% MJ, thats not a prove.

I wonder... if we didn't hear about the Jackson's misgivings over this song (and others) would we have believed it was Michael singing or do you think fans would still be saying it's not his vocals? I don't think it would have crossed my mind to even doubt it was Michael tbh, but after hearing about the Jackson's doubts, I too am doubting it.

Personally, I think Michael made a rough demo & didn't sing full out then the Cascio's filled it out, possible with an impersonator. I would say this was about 30-40% MJ at most.

Sony released a statement; the link from bbc i dont know, ofcourse they say its him because they cant be telling now its not him.. amagine that would happen..

then they have multipale illegal stuff going on..

I think there seems to be some confusion and anger between fans, i.e. people are "pro-Sony" or "anti-Sony." I'm here to tell you, I have nothing against Sony. I know MJ had a problem with them, but I'm sure MJ did some things that were not cool as well. Then again, none of us really know for sure what the story is behind that feud. Regardless, my point is, I want it to be MJ. How could we not? I'm not sitting around waitng to condemn the powers that be, nor am I sitting around protesting releasing anything because "that's not the way he would have wanted it." I want the stuff released. I want it all released one day. But this? This is what they gave us?

I didn't know they were talking about this song, but others on the labum, so for me, no matter they talked abot it or not, I didn't believe them. And I was so excited this morning opening the computer and listening to that song...

This is an epic fail.

And it makes me really sad and frustrated. I' having the same frustrating feeling as when Joe was named best father of the year.

ok, ppl may have already said this. But can we stop with all the sony bashing (which is a shocking thing for me to say) cos its getting stupid!! the only thing sony are involved in is the distribution of the album. Its the estate whp picked the songs, put them together and sent them to sony. Maybe we should be getting on their cases to. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying sony ain't guilty of anything, cos that would be stupid, but give em a bit of a break aye.

Also, LOVING the clip of Do you know? (where your children are?) BUT, wtf have they done to another day? the rhythm sounds all confused with its self and there are those horrible overpowering sounds over the chorus. At this point i'm prefering the leaked version!

We have WBSS 2008, HMH, we have THIS IS IT. It's odd that you think this is MJ, since I know you know a lot and really know MJ's voice. Looks like I was wrong.

I didn't expect his voice to sound as it did on Invincible because we heard what his voice sounded like in 2009 in the movie TII. I expect something recorded in 2007 to sound more like he did in the movie. The verses of "Breaking News" do not sound like they were sung by Michael Jackson at any time. It is not so much singing style as annunciation. I have never heard Michael sing "wanting" or any similar word the way he does in the first verse of this song. I have never heard him say his name like he does in this song. Do you have vocal analysis software? Perhaps we should bring in the FBI?

I wonder what would say those that actually listened to the original and said they think it is Michael when they hear your version. Maybe that would be high-pitched for them? :wild:

i thought WBSS 2008s vocals were taken from the old demo and werent new vocals?, This is it was live vocals so you cant compare them to a studio recording, so HMH is the only real comparison you can make, and for the record Im undecided on whether I think its him or not the whole thing seems fishy i don't know what to make of it.
